U.S. AID TO ISRAEL: PROFITS TO THE MERCHANTS OF DEATH

U.S. aid to Israel has averaged $15 MILLION DAILY for the last 50 years -- one-third of the foreign aid budget. Less widely understood is that OVER 60 PERCENT of U.S. aid to Israel goes to U.S. armaments corporations. From 1997 to 2002, over $5 billion in U.S. aid to Israel went to Lockheed-Martin, including $2.5 billion for 50 f-16 fighters, and $2 billion for support contracts, spare parts, low altitude and infrared night targeting systems, and Multiple Launch Rocket Systems. Boeing sells Israel Apache helicopters. United Technologies sells Blackhawk helicopters. Raytheon sells Patriot missiles. Northrop Grumman sells radar. Exxon/Mobil sells jet fuel. The list goes on and on and on. The last thing U.S. corporations need is peace.

Spencer Abraham
ENERGY SECRETARY

Corporate Connections:
General Motors; Ford Motor Company; Lear Corp.; DaimlerChrysler

A one-term senator from Michigan, Spencer Abraham was the No. 1 recipient of campaign contributions from the automotive industry, receiving more than $700,000 for his failed Senate run in 2000 from contributors like General Motors, Ford and Lear Corp. One of his top contributors, DaimlerChrysler, is introducing an extra large SUV to the U.S. market this year. Daimler's SUV, considered a "military spin-off," is a foot longer than the SUVs currently on the road and will only get about 10 miles per gallon. The debate over whether to raise or lower fuel economy standards is expected to surface again this year, especially as the country struggles with an energy crisis. Daimler is one of 139 companies that joined the Coalition for Vehicle Choice, a lobbying group that opposes setting fuel economy regulations. (The current standard for SUVs is 20.7 miles to the gallon.) The coalition gave Abraham $178,674 in 1999-2000. "But he did not receive ANY contributions in 2002, which is what this post claims."

--that is NOT what the story claims--the very first line is:
Pro-Israel- PAC Contributions to Senate Candidates **2002 Cycle** and Previous Career Total -(PCT)- 1978 through December 31, 2001

--do you know what the word "CYCLE" means?

ELECTION OVERVIEW
2002 CYCLE
Stats at a Glance
Based on data released by the FEC on Thursday, November 14, 2002. All figures are based on FEC reports filed by Members of Congress through October 24, 2002. ***They cover financial activity that took place between Jan. 1, 2001 and October 16, 2002***.

--DUUUUHHHHH . . . anything between Jan. 1, 2001 and Dec. 31, 2001 FALLS WITHIN THE ***2002 CYCLE***.

THE SOURCE DATA IS ALL FILED AS REPORTS TO THE FEDERAL ELECTIONS COMMISSION (FEC) BY CANDIDATES THEMSELVES (unless, of course, the *candidates* or the FEC fictionalized the numbers)--

Jan. 1, 2001--Oct. 16, 2002: and Spencer Abraham *could still receive contributions* ($1000 listed) for that CYCLE, *even* in early 2001, a couple months *after* he lost.

Still Waiting for Data
These candidates are included on this list either because the Federal Election Commission has not released their reports electronically or their reports have not been filed with the FEC. The list is based on data released by the FEC on Thursday, November 14, 2002.

--duuuhhhhhh. . . how much more *obvious* does it have to be?

next time, GET OFF YOUR ASS and do some RESEARCH before posting wiseguy comments.
