I have been going to a lot of events lately that have been posted on Indymedia, and what I am seeing is that if the same people that show up at most events do not show up, then very few show up. In otherwords the Peace and Justice movement is losing ground not gaining ground. What will it take for the Peace and Justice movement to succeed? Unity, Solidarity, and a commitment to creating Peace.
I am almost sick of reading posts on Indymedia. Everyone is so negative. I can understand because after trying to make a mark in the peace movement, I have been beat up, censored, and all my efforts are taken for granted.
I really wonder when people are going to realize that the peace movement is about healing trauma. The peace movement is about healing trauma within yourself, within your community, and within the world. I would suggest that we all start by creating a community of people that are willing to work for Peace.
We need to define goals, make strategies, and plan for success. I see so many people talking about how the media will never change. Well if you don't change the media, then you are not going to win this war. TV is the drug of the masses. They listen to and repeat whatever it says. If it says the Peace and Justice movement got Pepper sprayed, then none of those people are going to join the movement. So what I suggest is that we do not make any negative media for a while, until our numbers are much greater.
I was at the Merrick Banneou action with myself and 5 other people. Peace Quake had more empty chairs than chairs that are full. This movement is not going to make it unless we do some radical reorganizing.
I would suggest we all start off with personally making peace with everyone we know. There are many people that are infighting within the peace movement. As long as this is going on there will be no growth, and a lot of people will leave the movement because of this. Der people. You can't censor someone and not expect them to come back at you with a suicide bomb or something. I mean really? What have you learned from the Isreal/Palestine conflict? We need a method of conflict resolution within the peace movement. We need to understand what it takes to make a successful movement fast.
I highly recommend we all band behind Kucinich. His first day in Office he will cancel WTO and Nafta. If you are involved in wanting to stop WTO and Nafta then you should be behind Kucinich. That is the simplest, most effective way to stop that problem. I have heard all sorts of shit about how Kucinich is a democrat and had people yell at me as I hand his information out. Well Kucinich was at Seattle WTO. I don't know what else I can say. Imagine if you all who think you are so hardcore because you perform direct actions that piss off the community banded together behind Kucinich. Imagine if after all your direct actions you were intelligent enough to infiltrate the government to work from within to create a better world, and then all the people that you have stood with at WTO and other events turned their backs on you.
Kucinich needs support. I suggest you all help him now. Learn about the issues, figure out how you can help him. Fast. http://www.kucinich.com
And make peace people. If you are around someone that freaked out for whatever reason. Help that person. Don't shut him out. Don't censor him. To try and get a felony against him. He needs your help not your anger. Why do you think the peace movement is falling apart? Are you making peace? Are you participating in events. Are you shutting out those that are willing to participate in events?
Make peace now people. Bring more people into the movement. Figure out what it takes to be successful. Know your enemy. You enemy is highly funded, highly militarized, and they own the media. Can you win? Oh yeah, you can. You just have to be smart and work together. Heal each other. Stand for each other not against each other.
I don't know. I am thinking of just killling myself. I am sick of all of you losers. You all are letting Rachel Corrie down. If you were all more effective it never would have even happened to her. I know she went crazy too. Does that matter? Are you going to help each other? Ever?
The following is Rachel Corrie,
Anyway, I'm rambling. Just want to write to my Mom and tell her that I'm witnessing this chronic, insidious genocide and I'm really scared, and questioning my fundamental belief in the goodness of human nature. This has to stop. I think it is a good idea for us all to drop everything and devote our lives to making this stop. I don't think it's an extremist thing to do anymore. I still really want to dance around to Pat Benatar and have boyfriends and make comics for my coworkers. But I also want this to stop. Disbelief and horror is what I feel. Disappointment. I am disappointed that this is the base reality of our world and that we, in fact, participate in it. This is not at all what I asked for when I came into this world. This is not at all what the people here asked for when they came into this world. This is not the world you and Dad wanted me to come into when you decided to have me. This is not what I meant when I looked at Capital Lake and said: "This is the wide world and I'm coming to it." I did not mean that I was coming into a world where I could live a comfortable life and possibly, with no effort at all, exist in complete unawareness of my participation in genocide. More big explosions somewhere in the distance outside.
When I come back from Palestine, I probably will have nightmares and constantly feel guilty for not being here, but I can channel that into more work. Coming here is one of the better things I've ever done. So when I sound crazy, or if the Israeli military should break with their racist tendency not to injure white people, please pin the reason squarely on the fact that I am in the midst of a genocide which I am also indirectly supporting, and for which my government is largely responsible.
I love you and Dad. Sorry for the diatribe. OK, some strange men next to me just gave me some peas, so I need to eat and thank them.
