ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (Reuters) -- President Bush on Friday urged that affordable high-speed Internet access known as broadband be available to all Americans by 2007.

"We ought to have universal, affordable access to broadband technology by the year 2007," Bush said in a speech focusing mostly on homeownership. "And then we ought to make sure that as soon as possible thereafter consumers have plenty of choices..."

It'll make it a lot easier for the government to keep track of what y'all have on your computers, that's for sure.

Some big companies are now opting to go back to dial-up, believe it or not, because their information is too vulnerable with broadband. And now the president wants us all to have high-speed internet in our houses. He doesn't want anyone keeping any secrets.

There's an ulterior motive concerning the invasion of privacy. Figures.

I'd thought maybe when he said, "We ought to have universal, affordable access to broadband technology by the year 2007" that what he meant to say was, "We ought to have universal, affordable access to HEALTH CARE AND OTHER BASIC HUMAN NEEDS by the year 2007". Apparently not.
