"Fondly do we hope, fervently do we pray . . ."

In a better world, Shrub's speech to the nation tomorrow would go something like the following, modeled on the Second Inaugural Address of Abraham Lincoln during the American Civil War:
"Fondly do we hope, fervently do we pray, that this mighty scourge of war may

speedily pass away. Yet, if God wills that it continue until the illicit

wealth piled up by the corporate bondsman's years of unrequited toil on the

lands of Iraq by the hands of Amerika shall be sunk, and until every drop of

innocent Middle East blood drawn with US and Israeli planes, tanks, and troops

shall be paid by another drawn from the insurgents' sword and determination,

as was said three thousand years ago, still must it be said that the judgments

of Allah are true and righteous altogether."
