Actions to Fight Pipelines and Fracking Taking Place All over US. . . Including Portland!

On Thursday August 22, 2013, from 6:30-8:30 pm, Portland Rising Tide is hosting an orientation at Laughing Horse Book and Film Collective at 12 NE 10th Ave, Portland, Oregon for people to learn more about the group's work and how they can get involved. There will be a discussion of the onslaught of fossil fuel export terminals proposed in the Cascadia region. Presenters will also talk about the work of Rising Tide to oppose these terminals; climate justice and direct action; and how people can plug-in as organizers and participants. - Portland Rising Tide Orientation event page

On Saturday August 24, 2013, from 10:00-3:00 pm, Hella 503 Collective, the Parasol Climate Collective, and Portland Rising Tide are organizing at the NE corner of Northgate Park in Portland, near the intersection of N. Clarendon Ave. and N. Fessenden St., to go door-to-door to talk to St. John's residents about climate change. Canvassers will be provided with a script and a short training, and will specifically be talking to residents about the fossil fuel export terminals that are already impacting St. John's. - Portland Rising Tide Climate Canvass event page

Earth First! Nationwide Call-Outs for Activists to Stop Fracking and Tar Sands Pipelines

From last year's Earth First! Rendezvous, the idea of the Full Time Direct Action (FTDA) Pledge sprang. The result was a list of people who expressed the desire to be contacted when crucial campaigns were in need of support at critical times. The call-outs featured in this article are modified from an email sent out to EF! activists nationwide regarding organizing efforts currently ongoing. If you can plug into these campaigns in Pennsylvania and Indiana over the next few weeks with skills, supplies, time, energy, funds, etc, it could be pivotal for the growth of these movements.
