US Corporate Mass Media In Meltdown After MAGA Victory

so the U.S. corporate mass media, which ensured Americans and the world that Donald Trump was a serial misogynist/rapist, "racist", oaf, and all-around scuzzbag...

is going to be eating a lot of crow in the next weeks/months(/years?).

They after all, were the ones who provided us all with those polls, especially after the July party conventions which 'proved' that Trump had 'virtually no chance' of victory. And that Hillary would be first woman president. Et cetera. Went on for over 4 straight months, a daily diet of:
"Poll shows Hillary leading in ___________"
"Hillary slated to win _________ "

...

Interesting statistic: the Clinton campaign spent fully twice (2) what the Trump campaign did.
Huffington Post "explains" their way out of it by saying that (even after purportedly 'providing all evidence') Americans "just didn't care" :

The polls all suggest that it will be a big night for Hillary. She either has a 94% chance of winning, an 84% chance of winning, or a 71% chance, according to the alleged savant of analytics Nate Silver, who has been hedging his bets over the last two weeks. That's a 23% margin of error for the leading pollsters. No wonder they make the big money. Could they be wrong? You bet.

St. Clair also notes :

It will come as a shock to both the Democratic and Republican leaderships that there is a class war going on in America. It's too bad for working class people that Donald Trump is the one leading it.

"... the most powerful weapon deployed by the Clintons is the corporate media 'the press'. Let's be clear on one thing: the corporate media in our country is no longer involved in journalism. They're a political special interest, no different than any lobbyist or other financial entity, with a total political agenda; and the agenda is not for you [points to audience], it's for themselves.

A few days later the President sidelong retorts to Trump, millions of his followers (and perhaps ? others...)

Obama: "Wild, Wild West" Media Platform Must End
author: Agence France-Presse

President Barack Obama decried America's "wild, wild west" media environment for allowing conspiracy theorists a broad platform and destroying a common basis for debate.

"We are going to have to rebuild within this wild-wild-west-of-information flow some sort of curating function that people agree to," Obama said at an innovation conference in Pittsburgh on Thursday October 13.

odd coincidence / synchronicity there...

News Media Yet Again Misreads America's Complex Pulse

Jim Rutenberg
MEDIATOR NOV. 9, 2016

All the dazzling technology, the big data and the sophisticated modeling that American newsrooms bring to the fundamentally human endeavor of presidential politics could not save American journalism from yet again being behind the story, behind the rest of the country.

The news media by and large missed what was happening all around it, and it was the story of a lifetime. The numbers weren't just a poor guide for election night they were an off-ramp away from what was actually happening.
