Please join us for a community discussion about strengthening our struggles for liberation when facing criminal charges. This presentation and discussion are based on the ideas in A Tilted Guide to Being a Defendant. The Tilted Scales Collective is excited to bring to you this comprehensive guide for radicals about facing charges in the criminal legal system. Rather than being a how-to guide, this book offers a way of thinking about criminal charges that is based on defendants' goals: personal, political, and legal. And these goals are framed with this question in mind:
Tilted Scales Collective is a small collective of dedicated legal support organizers who have spent years supporting and fighting for political prisoners, prisoners of war, and politicized prisoners in the occupied lands of Turtle Island (i.e., the so-called united states).

We will introduce basic and common non-violent
direct action strategies and tactics, as well as review pertinent legal information and address how you and your group can keep each other safe while challenging those in power. This training will thoroughly prepare your group to take strategic and tactically
powerful autonomous action.
We ask that you show up in a group; a
group does not need to be any kind of formal organization, although it totally CAN be people those people. We ask that groups be made up of at least 3 people, and encourage much larger groups to attend as well. If your group doesn't already have a name, now's
your chance to think of something awesome to call yourselves. We also ask that regardless of its size, *at least* 3 people from your group attend the training. There will be a lot of information given and you might have to split up at all points to absorb
