Tobias Read and The Elliott State Forest

Good news on the Elliott State Forest! Today, Treasurer Tobias Read reversed his previous position on selling the Elliott.
Read, who serves on the three member Oregon State Land Board, is now throwing his support behind Governor Kate Brown's emerging plan to keep Oregon's only old-growth state forest in public ownership! (more)  link to www.oregonlive.com

You, and tens of thousands of other Oregonians who called, wrote, lobbied, tweeted, and emailed Tobias Read over the last month, made this happen.

You expressed your support for public lands, and your desire to see Oregon's only old-growth state forest protected as a legacy for future generations, not sold off to private logging interests to be clearcut. Treasurer Read appears to have seen the light on the importance of keeping public lands public, and says he no longer supports privatization.

However, the work to #SaveTheElliott is not over. Treasurer Read made the right decision in dropping his support for privatizing public lands, and we should thank him for it. But we must now redouble our efforts, and urge Read, Governor Brown, and members of the Oregon Legislature to act quickly on a solution that keeps the Elliott public and protects it's priceless old-growth forests.

Please take a moment to thank Treasurer Tobias Read for listening to the voices of tens of thousands of Oregonians who spoke up for the Elliott and public lands, and encourage him to work hard on a good plan to protect the Elliott.  http://org.salsalabs.com/o/1780/p/dia/action4/common/public/?action_KEY=21500
