VIDEO: Armistice Day 2017 - Veterans Day - Portland Oregon

On Nov 11th 2017 over 2 dozen people gathered in Pioneer Square on Veterans Day to celebrate Armistice Day.

Veterans For Peace has taken the lead in lifting up the original intention of November 11th—as a day for peace. As veterans, we know that a day that celebrates peace, not war, is the best way to honor the sacrifices of veterans. We want generations after us to never know the destruction war has wrought on people and the earth.

This Armistice Day, Veterans For Peace calls on the U.S. public to say No To More War, No War on Korea, No to Nuclear Threats and Proliferation and to Demand Justice and Peace, at Home and Abroad. We know Peace is Possible and call for an end to all oppressive and violent policies, and for equality for all people.
Here is the video from the Armistice Day event held in Portland on 11.11.17

[An armistice is a formal agreement of warring parties to stop fighting. It is not necessarily the end of a war, since it may constitute only a cessation of hostilities while an attempt is made to negotiate a lasting peace. It is derived from the Latin arma, meaning "arms" (as in weapons) and -stitium, meaning "a stopping".]
