2 p.m., City Hall: Mayor Ted Wheeler and Commissioners will proclaim April 24, 2019 Reverend Dr. James Lawson Day in Portland.

Reverend James Lawson is one of the architects of the American Freedom Movement of the 1950s and '60s. Portland State University's Conflict Resolution program is honored to host the subsequent Sixth James Lawson Institute.

Rev Lawson is 90 and has no further trips scheduled to Portland, so this is a historic moment.
