The Whole World is Marching - the Anti-War Movement
The Whole World is Marching - the Anti-War Movement The most impressive development in all this is that millions of people have come out to protest all over the world before the war has even started. Two million demonstrated in London, 2.5 million in Rome, over a million in Barcelona, over half a million in New York, a quarter of a million in San Francisco, 200,000 in Damascus-the list goes on and the mass radicalization continues apace.

Rachel Corrie: In her own words Rachel was murdered by an Israeli bulldozer driver on March 16, 2003 in Rafah. This is a communique from Rachel to her parents in February of this year. "Many people want their voices to be heard, and I think we need to use some of our privilege as internationals to get those voices heard directly in the US, rather than through the filter of well-meaning internationals such as myself. I am just beginning to learn, from what I expect to be a very intense tutelage, about the ability of people to organize against all odds, and to resist against all odds."

Marching the streets and singing in the park is nice and all. Now it is time to reclaim something real. Bush's argument that war is necessary to get rid of Saddam Hussein and his weapons of mass destruction is hollow and hypocritical. Millions of people are responding to Code Red, White and Blue, the real threat to world peace and security that America has become.

This is an article that appeared in the Hartford Advocate today, with commentary by smirkingchimp members... here's a quote:
...the Portland event was a watershed for anti-Bush sentiment the way the Seattle protests in Nov. 1999 galvanized the anti-globalization movement... the violent overreaction of the police conveyed an unmistakable message about the lengths this administration will go to to shield itself from democracy.

LIBERALS ATTACK 9-11 'CONSPIRACY THEORIES'
An article from ZNET written by Michael Albert and Stephen Shalom which attack the questions about 9-11 coming from various "conspiracy theorists." In particular, the ZNET writers attack Mike Ruppert and Jared Israel. These ZNET people essentially adopt the Official American line that 9-11 was due to incompetence, not complicity or conspiracy. To me, what's interesting is the timing of the piece. This article is part of a spate of RECENT pieces coming from the "The Left" which attempt to debunk the "Conspiracy Theories"--despite the fact that Ruppert and Israel published their 9-11 work last year. Curious.
