WILL LIBERALS KILL AMERICANS FOR POWER?
A shot was fired..
Oregon Governor, Kulongoski recently called for a debate on the draft. While claiming not to advocate for a draft, Kulongoski peacefully banters along side people that do support a draft, as an apparent way to end the back door draft on the state's national guard troops. He claims to be against the war, yet asks the state for a hundred thousand dollars to build a monument in support of soldiers died, in a war not ended.
He clearly re-iterates his frustration with the federal governments efforts to nationalize the state's guard, and asks for a debate on the draft. While meekly asserting that he doesn't support the draft.
One can only wonder..

What stinks in salem?

anarchism versus reality
Anarchists, like communists, advocate a classless society; in a class-based society, there are two 'principle' classes: an oppressor class, and an oppressed class- what are commonly referred to as bourgeoisie and proletariat, or capitalist and wage-slave if you prefer. To do the dirty work of the capitalist we have the middle-class, or 'peti-bourgeois'. The capitalists are the owners; the wage-slaves are the workers. The middle-class are often managers, middle to upper range bureaucrats, or more privileged workers.

House Passes Bill Banninng Flag Burning
The US House of Representatives approved a constitutional ammendment today, giving congress the power to ban the desecration of the flag. Currently, the bill has a distinct chance of passing the Senate as well, due to the republican gain in the last election. It then would move to states for ratification within the next seven years, and would permanently amend the US constitution.

Global warming: a Socialist perspective
Introduction

According to the defenders of capitalism and the "free market", including "New Labour", socialism in general and marxism in particular is all but dead and buried. However before they begin the wake it may be instructive to examine one of the main environmental problems created by the free market, namely global warming. Global warming has been described as the greatest disaster facing humankind, not to mention a myriad of other species!

* 45 million more children will die
* 247 million more people will be living on $1 per day or less
* 97 million more children will not be in school
* 53 million people will be without proper sanitation.

Clearly, something must be done. Will the G8 and the Gleneagles meeting do anything to relieve world poverty?
