Reason #83 to ignore American corporate media
We are being betrayed. All of the major social players in our country are betraing us and if you think you found someone that is not, then you are seriously deluding yourself. Fascism is being implemented without a peep from anyone - rethuglicans, democraps, mass media whores - and we go on to watch tv as if nothing is happening... Check this out between commercials...

Today (Tues. 6/28) the Senate Finance Committee decided NOT to vote on CAFTA because they don't have the votes. It seems that Bush and his thugs haven't found the thumb screws to turn on Big Sugar to get them to give in on this one. It is sooooo disempowering to know that this huge industry is holding back CAFTA...while they care nothing for AIDS patients, sweatshop workers or the thousands of US workers who will lose their jobs to outsourcing...but that's Politics right? Fact is, though, that if Ron Wyden would just vote against it, our lives would be a lot easier.

Scott McCollister: GUILTY
In spite of an unsurprising acquittal by a mostly white jury today, Scott McCollister knows in his dark, toxic heart that he is GUILTY. He shot and killed an unarmed, 90 lb woman to death, on the streets of Portland, after stopping her car because a black person was driving. He lied to a grand jury, and then to this jury. And star-crazed idiots from the suburbs let him off the hook. The rest of us, however, do not.

Venezuela, Oil and the struggle for Democratic Socialism in the 21st Century
The country of Venezuela is a startling paradox of immense suffering and extreme wealth. According to a private Caracas-based polling company, Datanalisis, over 58% of the 25 million people in Venezuela live on less than $253 (Cdn) a month. The level of poverty becomes all the more damning when factoring in that Venezuela is also the world's fourth largest oil exporter. This glaring contradiction remained unchallenged until the election of Hugo Chavez as Venezuelan President.

Naval Academy Dome Abe Foxman is a windbag! His organization, the ADL, got caught, back in the 90s, with its pants down, spying on political groups. It was the shameless Foxman, too, who was exposed, taking $250,000 in donations for his organization from sleazy Marc Rich, while working to get him a presidential pardon. Behind all the optimistic talk about the health of world capitalism from Bush, Blair etc, the more serious analysts are worried. In its semi-annual report, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), representing the richest 26 countries in the world, announced that it is cutting its forecasts for all leading economies. The OECD also forecast that the US current account deficit would continue to rise, hitting nearly $900 billion or 6.7% of US GDP in 2006.

Supreme Court Liberals Legalize Theft
A liberal big-government majority on US Supreme Court has handed governments at all levels the power to steal homes from people simply by declaring that it has other uses in mind that could generate higher property taxes or more jobs. The ruling, a goldmine for developers and powerful economic interests, is simply a license for the rich to steal from the poor. ------------------
