This is a summary of a action alert sent out by http://www.fair.org/index.php?page=2798
On indymedia we often complain and communicate our sorrow, frustration and rage, but awareness without action is dead.
This simple act of making a phone call or sending an email is an easy way of walking your talk.

People outside the US tend to think of our population as a nation of idiots. That's only partially true. Our lack of knowledge has little to do with our level of mental ability, rather it is a product of our educational system combined with our media. This short essay tries to explain to them that we ain't dumb, our media is.
Yee-Haw! All you pinko bastards out there need to get a grip!!!
Here's the question: can the Democratic Party be any part of a solution to our present-day political problems, or, is the Democratic Party so far gone that any activity under the Democratic umbrella is necessarily counter-productive to solving the systemic problems?
This question arises in the context of frequent comments - whenever g.d. dem posts an article, or even a comment, that contains even one word like "Democrat". Such comments can arise when ANYONE posts something that mentions a progressive Democrat without a single instance of the word "Democrat" or even the word "party"!
Those who hold the view that the Democratic Party is a hopeless case don't have a whole lot of patience for those who disagree with that estimate. Their view is that it's just obvious to any conscious person - how could you not get it? I have forced the anti-Dems that have the patience to deal with me to outline their various positions - and now it's my turn. I owe it to the anti-Dems to fully explain my position.
Payday loan sharks market to people who are impulsive and desperate. They are often the straw which breaks the camels back. People end up relying on pubilc assistance to get back on thier feet. A relatively small profit creates a tremendous burden of society. Lets quit subsidizing Payday loan sharks. Call today!
As we all know, 'Subcommandante Marcos' is riding a motorcycle from town to town throughout Mexico, conducting what he calls the "Other Campaign". At the same time, heated partisan election campaigns are on-going for the national election on July 2 -- that will determine both the presidency and the congress.
We gringos are looking south with envy. Yes, our circumstances are very different than what it is in Mexico. Yet and still, are we not wondering, CAN WE LEARN FROM THE ZAPATISTAS' "Other Campaign"?
I took a dip in the bloody pool. Anyone else care for a swim?
Jail is a place where dehumanization is high on the agenda of the state and guards, and thus humane interactions from the outside are greatly needed for the preservation of prisoners' sanity. This necessary jail and prison support can take on many forms. You can visit prisoners, organize legal help, write press releases, send prisoners books, phone cards, money and letters, organize rallies, help translate testimonies, and more...
There is an bill in Congress to investigate Bush for impeachable crimes. Did you know that? If not, maybe you should be asking your local media outlets why you don't know about it.

Four months since the murder of Fouad Kaady
Well, it is now four months since Officer Bergin (Sandy P.D.) and Deputy Willard (Clackamas County S.O.) took it upon themselves to terminate the young life of Fouad Kaady, who was much beloved by his community, and who will be deeply missed.
I went downtown in hopes of getting some good pictures from the weekly fur protest...
Jack Abramoff may be the sleaziest influence peddler to hit the halls of power in Congress - ever. As many as 20 Congressmen may be caught up in the crimes of this confessed master briber. Yet, there is nothing really new about corruption scandals on Capitol Hill. The biggest obscenity is this: Brave U.S. soldiers are dying in Iraq in a war sanctioned by the "most corrupt Congress in history," and started by a wacky President - George W. Bush.
Reclaim the debate! Resist the G8! In July 2006, the G8 will hold its annual Summit in St.Petersburg, Russia. Vladimir Putin says he's placing "energy security" at the top of the G8 agenda during Russia's presidency. The G8 countries consume 45% of world oil and produce 47% of global CO2 emissions. Their "energy security" is our energy grave!
Plan to reform health care in the US

Strikers Defy Taylor Law
"Bait and Switch" by Barbara Ehrenreich, 2005
In late 2003, with the U.S. in recession, unemployment stood at 5.9 percent. Almost 20 percent of those were white-collar professionals, probably close to their proportion of the workforce. This was a change, Ehrenreich writes, from previous recessions, where the unemployed were disproportionately blue-collar.
We're off to see the wizard....
A hard hitting, truth telling essay on today's Bush supporters, defenders of fascism
I suggest we pay closer attention to our commitments.
Maybe the idea of resolution is not strong enough for us.
Maybe if we decree our commitment to a healthier future for planet earth, its people and other living creatures we will have more success in keeping our personal commitments.
The tragic mine accident in West Virginia brings to light the sad fact that in the past years saftey has taken several big steps backwards.
What is going on in Palestine?
Remorse and religion is the standard of those representatives pleading guilty to government bribes and lies. Courage and conviction is the standard of American whistleblowers, Sibel Edmonds and Bunnatine Greenhouse. Is there a Patriot Act that can protect whistleblowers and reflect the standards of how patriots are free to act?

Thoughts on my last night in Portland
In March 2006, Iran will take Iraq's switch to the petroeuro to new heights by launching a third oil exchange. The Iranians have developed a petroeuro system for oil trade, which when enacted, will once again threaten U.S. dollar supremacy far greater than Iraq's euro conversion. Called the Iran Oil Bourse, an exchange that only accepts the euro for oil sales would mean that the entire world could begin purchasing oil from any oil-producing nation with euros instead of dollars.
The administration is saying that huge damage was done to our

story to the NY Times.
Reflections of the new year
It's not just Lefties like me who are unhappy with the party they're supposed to be part of. I have friends and kinfolk who regularly vote Republican, and they're just as contemptuous of the Republicans as I am of the Democrats.
this review employs two main elements: orthodox "texting" and as well, permitting myself to art into another direction than perhaps previously anticipated. incorporated into this post is image, non-blunt points, rectangles, and other lines, along with 'marginal' commentary. All of this certainly cuts down on the verbiage and gets to "the point" (and allows for more broad input from those whose spirit just really ain't oriented to 'composing' formal ideas of text, re: "book reviews"). Lastly, this way allows people to leave *traces* of their spirit in a less mediated way.
A culture of surveillance.
On CNN this morning, Jan. 5, the CEO of Sago Mining actually had the NERVE to ask for PUBLIC DONATIONS FOR THE MINERS HIS COMPANY KILLED! Oh yeah, let's all empty our pocketbooks to bail out a rich corporate hog! GET REAL! I am sorry, but rather than calling the 1-800 number to "donate" to the families of the mining tragedy, why not force FAT CAT SAGO CEO TO SELL ALL HIS FUCKING HOUSES TO PAY FOR HIS GREED? How about Sago goes out of business to pay for this?
It seems to me that we are at a crossroads in America.
Before I'm accused of being some rabid "new anti-Semite" Israel-hater.
A change in control of the House could lead to real investigations into Bush criminality, and maybe even to impeachment hearings.
The Golden Egg I reffer too is a House and Senete control,Ran By your freinds In the Neocon Party, What a easy scam Abraham thought, this would be, And Just Mabe It was Bush who Put him Up to it , Ohh well Imagine What kind of Things you can promise people As a lobbiest if your Hole party Had control, a rare house of cards or Mabe it was deliberate and Not that rare, It was Masterminded By theifs, and Orchastrated By faithful desperation of Power , People Like Rupert Murdock Who controlled the flow of Media In favor of the Neocons so they would Have control, And Orcastrated By Rove, Cheney, Delay,Rumsfeild, AbrahmOFF , And Many many Many very close Neocons desperate to Conrtrol the white House At any cost??
Filling in the gaping holes left by the mainstream media.
Multnomah County Deputy Gelvik deserves a huge attaboy. While we here usually have much very deserved criticism for the cops, this guy must have missed the class where they are taught to kill the victim.
The House will likely re-vote sometime in January. The original vote in the House took place at 3 AM with members having just a few hours to review the 754 page bill. It was very close, so the hope is a few members given more time to reflect will reconsider their votes.
Republican lobbyist Jack Abramoff pedaled influence in the white house and Republican led congress.
This article includes an imaginary speech and photograph of the "president". Although it is quite entertaining and funny, it's a deadly serious proposition to anyone who listens, whether sheeple or activist.
Jeff has recently written two Dispatches, both pasted below, about the recent arrests and the death of William Rodgers. Please feel free to forward and post these writings elsewhere.

She said that her father had been "irritated" on the first day and had repeatedly stressed to the kidnappers that he and his wife had a flight to catch.
On the whole, I love street protest. I love the freedom it can give. I love the inspiration of people power in it. I love the message of defiance it sends to the state and police, a message that you can even beat us and spray us with chemicals, and we are gonna come back, with gas masks and rain coats on, because we believe more in our cause than they do in theirs. But I also am sick of self-imposed "peace police" and token "protests" following police around town...
Seattle and Vancouver B.C.'s media have pulled out all the stops to villify and publically BBQ school athletics coach Chi Yung Luu for "peeping" at naked bodies in the shower-room..
"/Well in our country," said Alice, "you'd generally get to somewhere else, if you ran very fast for a long time as we've been doing." "A slow sort of country!" said the Queen. Pacifism alone appears obsolete in the face of encroaching tyranny. Yet what if pacifism is but only one form of nonviolence in a spectrum limited only by our imagination? The author looks at one scenario sure to rock your world (with art)
