You Are Clusterfucked!
I traverse this landscape goggling at the sights in wonder and nausea. This part of America has become something worse than a former Soviet backwater, something sadder. In these places, we have managed to overcome even the hard-won fruits of enterprise achieved by the independent people who preceded those alive now. Everything they wrested from the land has been thrown away, or allowed to rot in place -- so that more attention can be paid to televised entertainments.

Arab Port Deal Distorted for Political Gain
Baltimore's Harbor Recently, 8,600 U.S. companies have been taken over by foreign ownership, while 20 percent of all U.S. assets are held by foreigners. The politicians were silent. Now, a United Arab Emirates' enterprise will soon be operating stevedoring companies in six U.S. ports, including Baltimore's. Its Mayor, Martin O'Malley, almost broke a blood vessel complaining. However, he didn't say a word while the preceding British outfit was doing the work. Go figure!

Media maintains Status Quo
The mass media's real "job," unbeknownst to the general public, is and has always been to protect the status quo, that is, to protect the interests of the governing classes. What currently threatens their legitimacy (and that of the ruling classes) is not that they have not been doing their job in the last few years, but rather that the public has begun to realize that the real function of the mass media (and the government) is to work against the public interest. This growing realization is a terrifying prospect for the ruling classes.

Jeff Free Luers - new article on climate change
Jeff Free Luers 2005 excerpt from entire article posted below by political prisoner Jeff Free Luers:

"The ability to alter the course of climate change lies in the hands of regular people. It is not an easy task by any means. Nevertheless, it is a task that humanity must begin to take; with or without our leaders... A free society is obligated to correct the wrongs of its government. If it cannot, then it is not free. If a people refuse to right the wrongs of their government, their endorsements make them equally culpable, and ultimately, they too will carry the burden of responsibility."

I am proposing a system somewhat analogous to Instant Runoff Voting (IRV), but simpler and more adaptable. Another Nail in the Free Speech Coffin - The Closing of Loompanics
When I think of America, the picture in my mind is not the Statue of Liberty or the flag, but the Loompanics Unlimited catalog. Loompanics is the apotheosis - a word I've always craved the opportunity to use - of free speech, the most perfect example of everything that's right with our beloved country. As Marilyn epitomizes movie stardom, as Willie epitomizes country music -in the same way, Loompanics is the ideal example of what America is all about. Or was meant to be.

Mere anarchy
THE SECOND COMING by William Butler Yeats, 1920 (Caps added for 'mere anarchy')

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
MERE ANARCHY is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

Update on the arrests of anarchists in Barcelona.
Thursday the 9th of February, 3 anarchist comrades were arrested in Barcelona, Spain. The arrests started at 8 in the morning when one of our comrades was coming out of work, he was arrested by balaclava wearing Mossos d'esquadra (a police force belonging to the local government of Catalonia). Later on as another comrade was leaving his home in the center of the city he was also arrested. Later in the afternoon the third to be arrested was released without charges. For the moment the other two are being charged with arson and public disorder. Apparently the charges are related to attacks on the company CIRE , a public enterprise who's business it is to make a profit from prison labor in the Catalonian prison system, and a sabotage on a Banc Sabadell, a local bank that has been prosecuting a activist in for breaking windows in a demonstration. On Saturday the 11th our comrades finally had a bail hearing ,where they were told that they would have to wait for trail in prison. This decision will be appealed. As our comrades were leaving the court to be transferred to prison the police attacked the demonstration of about 50 of their supporters outside. This in the scuffle that followed one of the demonstrators was beaten to point of requiring stitches on his face. The police also dissolved the demonstration on Sunday in front of the prison where our comrades are being held. In Barcelona there was also a demonstration with about 150 people that took place in the center of the city the day of the arrests. These arrests are part of a continuing attack on the anarchist movement in Barcelona, it's the same repression that has imprisoned since September 2003 four other anarchist comrades without trial. International solidarity is needed now more that ever
