The alleged gunman committed suicide - but who else knew about his plans?
Lars Larson notices fur protestors are having an impact
It seems natural that in the March 19th protest rally in Portland, which was one of the largest in the nation, was followed up by two acts of civil disobedience, also the largest in the nation. But let's not stop here! On every 20th of every month, we should continue to occupy Senator Wyden's office and use the downtime to make sure every month more and more people are involved in the action.
The nation goes nuts if it hears about a mad cow somewhere or if a bird comes down with flu, but global warming, a biblical flood on the way within a generation? Who cares?
March through downtown Portland to protest the abuse and torture of Iraqi prisoners by US troops on 3/17/06.
The biofuels movement is propelled by the powerful myth of progress; the myth that with the right technology, the right machines, the right fuel, we can go on living as we currently live. The myth of progress represents horrible misunderstanding of our past, and it equally misunderstands the future. Rather than leading to an age of renewable fuel, the biofuel movement is more likely to be the seed of a global scale genocide.
"It's the reality of a situation like this that when you have a large troop presence that it has the tendency to fuel the insurgency because they can make the incorrect and unfair claim that somehow the United States is here to occupy this country, which of course is not true," Feingold said.
Most Marylanders can expect their electric bills to go up by $743 a year-a 74 % increase! In 1999, the legislature deregulated the industry. In a sweetheart deal, BGE was absorbed by Constellation Energy and required to begin buying its electricity on the open market. Meanwhile, BGE's electric-generating assets, originally paid for by the people, were turned over to Constellation in "a cash-free shuffle." The ratepayers are now being asked to pay again!
Agri-labor, sometimes referred to as "stoop labor" needs a dramatic overhaul and the public recognition and respect for the often times mexican nationals who perform this exhausting labor for our (white folks) behalf.

The General Strike as a tactic to return democracy to the USA?
concerns the "spectacle" of September 11th
Numerous contractors, like Boeing, are pulling their investments out of the government’s hands and putting their money in a more useful place. As the government spends another 72 billion dollars in Iraq and Afghanistan, we see yet more money being thrown into a void with no return. It seems like principal investors in the government’s programs are finally beginning to understand that following the federal government is the road to ruins.

I have played with the idea of starting a website to promote this idea. I would like feedback, both on the content and how to go forward with it. You can post comments on my blog as well: http://elohigadugi.org/journal/

Limiting Presidential War Powers
In the face of the coming maelstrom, we can come together in time — whether we're 'leftist,' 'rightist,' 'centrist,' or whatever — to recreate this country in a truly beautiful, healthful way.
Impossible? Well, as Norman Cousins put it, "All things are possible, once enough human beings realize that EVERYTHING is at stake."
This USDA program, originally voluntary, will become mandatory in a few years. It requires the implantation of radio frequency ID chips into any animal defined by law as "livestock" or "poultry."

Botswana -- Bushmen dying from mystery disease
Sunday, here in Portland, the sun showed its face with no hint of shyness for the first time in months. No hide-and-seek with the clouds, just pure, glorious, unadulterated sunshine. On such a day you expect life to be good and to be rewarded with further soul-lifting support from the cosmos, so it should have been no surprise that the afternoon march and rally against the Iraq war would have a large turnout. But the actual size of the crowd was indeed a nice surprise.
A call for Censorship on the wide-open Web (of stuff the WW doesn't want you to hear) A response to an article in WW of March, 22nd, 2006 in response to my response. Did that make sense? Here's the WW article: WW Article
Doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results is a sign of addiction. Peaceniks who claim to want to "End the War" have a habit worse than the junkie: using the same, bankrupt tactics that make them feel warm and fuzzy while the killing proceeds unabated. When you gonna kick?
I had an encounter several years ago (pre-Dubya).
I knew little about Lard at that time, except that he was a
local looney righty radio talk show host.
I found out what kind of people Lard and his wife are.
Everyone on Sunday felt good being around so many other people who seemed to share the same basic rationality of opposing the war. Big permitted demonstrations provide an important space for a variety of people to see the size of their movement. Maybe the experience will even move some people from being mere marchers to being committed activists and organizers. But I must say that these marches mean next to nothing if they are not part of a broader and more confrontational (not violent) strategy centered on direct action.
An interesting comparison btwn the 'peaceful' protests of the weekend in the US and the student reaction to proposed labor legislation in France.
Lars Larson has expressed his disdain and contempt for anyone who dares speak out against the war on his uber-patriotic web site with a snotty little remark accompanying a news article about the weekend's march. You gotta wonder, what does the guy want? I think I know what he wants:
it is possible that the zealots, lunatics, and messianic who sanctify land over humanity, will nonetheless manage to lead Israel to suicide.
Invest in the stock market and support death destruction and violence!
that was so wantonly killed by the PoPigs yesterday, we need to keep keenest
eye on this so-called "medical examiner" that the state uses, as he's been in
the past subject to much pressure to rule in favor of the cops and to put as
favorable a tone towards their viewpoints...irrespective as to whether it was
indeed FACT and TRUE!
so we can add his name to the Hall of PoPiggy Shame...right up there with the
Bush's Prime Directive
Activists marched on the Pentagon, on March 20, 2006. In a direct action, a symbolic coffin was hoisted over a fence by the protesters at the facility, located in northern Virginia, just opposite Washington, D.C. About 20 demonstrators were arrested. The "Iraq Pledge of Resistance" organization sponsored the event on the third anniversary of the bloodbath in Iraq. A prayer was also offered near the Pentagon to honor all of the Iraqi dead.
I could care less if you burn the flag, after all the Bush Administration has done much worse to the Constitution.
The Oregonian sank to new depths this weekend marking the third anniversary of the U.S. War in Iraq. As hundreds of thousands marched around the world protesting peacefully against this war, The Oregonian led off its Opinion section with the huge type, "Crossroads or dead end?" Below were imbedded two, supposedly alternative views along the line of that heading, with a third innocuous title of an opinion piece on page B5, "Are we losing an unwinnable, unjustified war?"
The right would rather spend a billion dollars to kill people than spend five dollars to feed somebody.
It's time for progressive to join the Green Party and support the green party with time, energy, talent and money. Here is a good arguement about the reasons why.

The Oregon Board of Parole members have concocted an illigitimate medical diagnosis called "emotional disturbance", a fatuous label they use as justification to illegally imprison Oregon prisoners.
Following is an editorial comment my husband wrote to the Eastern Oregonian Newspaper. They refused to print it.

I am going to the march on Sunday. I am going to listen to the speeches, and then walk in the streets to support an anti-war effort. Bring the troops home now. Get out of other people's countries and stop killing them. Impeach the man in the White House, then try him for Treason. I believe it is important for all people of conscience to march, to educate, to engage in outreach. I hope everyone reading this will go out there.
