Many people today are feeling powerless and frustrated, in the face of the overwhelming political war machine that has coopted our government, as well as the governments of most industrial nations. The question is often asked, "what good does it do, to stand around in a group, or to march down the street carrying banners and signs?" Being a lazy man, of a somewhat regimented background, I too have wondered at times. For what it is worth, I have found a few answers in my sixty plus years, and will try to articulate them for anyone who cares to share:
A Democratic election victory in November will not halt the Bush regime agenda of global empire. Only by driving the regime from power can we stop the Christian fascists.
Lamont Primary Victory Over Connecticut's U.S. Sen. Lieberman Shockwaves through American Party Politics ~ Interview with Jacob Hacker, Yale University professor of political science, conducted by Melinda Tuhus
Takoma, Maryland's City Hall was the scene for a lively discussion on Middle East issues, on Aug. 17, 2006. Kevin Zeese, the "Unity candidate" for the U.S. Senate in Maryland, and one of the panelists, said Israel's attack on Lebanon was premeditated and that an attack on Iran might lead to WWIII. Noura Erakat said Lebanon had been devastated 'on a humanitarian level" by Israel's War Machine. She also denounced Israel as an "Apartheid state."

Can't you understand that you will go to jail for life when the tide turns? As it always does? At least if you survive the revenge of your victims, the rightfully very angry people which you have permanently belied concerning 9/11 and brainwashed via your propaganda for so many years. They'll never forget what you have done and strike back!
America is drowning, and it is only a breath or two away before it is dead. Are we going to sit by and watch it happen or are we going to finaly stand up and fight against the disease of this dying nation. Here is a list of reasons why we need to act now, and never stop until we win.
The USA has seen the last two presidential elections decided by voting fraud, each time wrongfully placing the Bush-Republican Far Right in the White House to perpetrate 9/11, wars, destruction of civil liberties & environment, etc. 2008 is certain to be rigged also -- UNLESS we educate the Public to demand&enforce a fair election. And urge Hillary Clinton to fight for this.
venezuela ahead in the race for the un latin american security council seat
It seems that every time we turn around, an apartment house or a manufactured home park is being sold for development, displacing hundreds of low-income, disabled and retired people. With the options narrowing, where will we go when every owner sells out?
The events of 9/11, with the destruction of the World Trade Center, as well as the hit on the Pentagon, were designed by the architects of mass murder as the oil needed to fine-tune our thirst for blood and start the engine of the American war machine as well as those sparkplugs of blind and unthinking support, the American people. 9/11 was, in short, the neocon wet dream come to life.
Others too have come out with this, 'it looks like this last
big terrorism bust, was actually a real one of all things'.
It's too sloppy with the blatant ISI-Qaeda-ISI hanging all
over it. The bushmob might actually go down on this one, if
more evidence should arise linking the let escape ISI from 911
to carry on, with yet another attempt at murdering undefended
Americans left dying forsaken.
The lack of fresh water is being driven mainly by agriculture. Other contributing factors are lack of infrastructure in places like Africa, overalocating water resouces from rivers such as the Murray-Darling running through Australia.
oh, well, you know, it just HAD to be said.
to me this picture has come to symbolize the war between israel and lebanon:

The UBC Centre for Design Sustainability has just published results for an "edge" scenario in the community of East Ladner British Columbia. It is not lower Cascadia but it is certainly applicable to the region. I would encourage people to take a look at < a href="http://tsaw-town-com.bryght.net/node/380">SOUTH DELTA TOWN PORTAL for links to the study and to view commentary from the community on many issues relating to edge design. We would certainly enjoy hearing opinions from other regions in the Pacific nortwest that share similar problems
It's a real crime to hold these ladies.

It behooves us to use all legal/judicial resources to effect a citizen's arrest of the leaders (and you know who you are) responsible for the invasion on top of the occupation of Lebanon.
mexican people will keep fighting for election they won
Apparently, the City of Portland has pretty lax rules when it comes to use of city resources, vehicles, gasoline, and such.
Below is the updated Seattle Anti-Imperialist Committee leaflet supporting the peoples of Palestine and Lebanon and condemning the U.S. imperialist-backed Israeli Zionist aggression. Several hundred copies of this leaflet were distributed at the A.N.S.W.E.R.-led "Defend the People of Palestine and Lebanon" rally in Seattle last Saturday.
It took only six years with Bush Jr. as President to give birth to a new generation of radical political activists, journalists, and commentators, whose main concerns are subjecting the insane policies of the President to exposure and condemnation; this, it seems, constitutes the foundation for nearly the entire realm of real political opposition in the U.S. The strategy here is limited to educating people about the destructive policies of the Republicans and hoping that in response, a protest or political movement will evolve powerful enough to either reform or displace those in power. Education of course, is absolutely crucial in transforming any dissident organization into an entity capable of action and results. However, by focusing only on the policies of the Republicans, without explaining the larger framework from whence they came, political education is greatly hindered, limiting the potential for effective action.
It is incredible what the world can achieve when the US stays out of a conflicts.
Let us deal for a moment with a particular piece of Israeli propaganda - that Zionist colonization and dispossession of the natives was valid because it was ratified by international law - the League of Nations Mandate in 1922 and the UN Partition Resolution in 1947.
American support may no longer be enough
Israel's long-term future lies in connecting with its Arab neighbours, not a western superpower thousands of miles away
A former Army intelligence and public affairs officer who has

Scientists who study human evolution have made great discoveries into the origins of human emotions and how they affect people and interpersonal relationships. People can put these discoveries to use in their everyday lives—if they learn about them.
Al-Jazeerah, August 11, 2006
According to the leader of Hizbullah, Shaikh Hassan Nassrullah, the Israeli war on Lebanon was approved by the Bush administration to be launched on late September or early October. However, the war was launched prematurely in reaction to the Hizbullah capture of Israeli soldiers.
What are people of conscience suppose to do in response to the unspeakable acts of barbarism being perpetrated daily by Israel? In America, they can still go out on the streets and protest. This is what happened on Sat., Aug. 12, 2006, in Washington, D.C. A rally at Lafayette Park, near the White House, organized by Arab-Americans, protested the relentless terror bombing of innocent civilians in Gaza and Lebanon by the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF).

Overwhelming evidence condemns the U.S. Government as the Perpetrator of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in New York. We must conduct the vital work of Public Information Campaigning to educate & politically activate the duped Public concerning the real terrorists.
callout and legal update...
roosters can be teachers
Where is the outrage about Lebanon? We need to rally the troops in Portland again and stand in protest. We should stage a large scale protest on September 11th.
Is Tony Blair so deeply involved in this scandal that he will happily be denigrated by Bush ('Yo Blair!')
Election and terror season begin coincedentally.
I guess if we believe we can take all the fuckin' oil we want, then we are going to have some people upset (rightly so) with 'our freedoms'.
This week the Willamette Week published an article entitled "Polluter Scooters" claiming to answer the question "What's worse: breathing the fumes of an SUV or a two-stroke scooter?" But as far as I can tell it didn't really tell us anything useful or conclusive.
Do you get the drill by now? Whenever they come out with a high emotion, 'look-over-here' story, there's something they really don't want you to pay attention to.
Israel is in violation of countless resolutions.

This leaflet was distributed during the second week of the occupations and in the 10000 people demonstration in Thessaloniki. Its content was determined by what we saw then as the major weaknesses of the movement, i.e. the adherence to democratic procedures and generally to a democratist ideology along with the absence of any critique of schoolwork and of the media's mediating role.
Blair and Bush use same old dog and pony show.
In the face of mounting aggression to attempt to stamp out the will and determination of the Lebanese and Palestinian peoples, Hezbollah and Hamas have increasingly come under fire, including being labeled as "terrorists." Unfortunately, the role of Islam in the struggle against imperialism confuses some in the progressive movement, but it shouldn't. The struggle of oppressed peoples for self-determination can and has emerged in different forms, including religious ones, and is best judged by the oppressed, not by ideologues from the oppressor nation....The Nation of Islam grew substantially in size and influence after Malcolm became a minister and a national spokesperson. His brother recruited him while Malcolm was in prison. The Nation of Islam provided hope for many in the Black community, through providing assistance to people in prison, addicts and alcoholics and many who had been beaten down by the ravages of racism and capitalism....The Nation, before and during the height of the Black liberation movement, explicitly argued for a separate Black nation. Today, this demand has manifested itself with, for instance, Minister Louis Farakkhan stating at the Millions More March last October that Black people have the right to govern themselves and have their own secretaries of education, defense, health, etc.The fact that the Nation of Islam has raised separatism shows that, ever since the compromise after the Civil War between the Nor th ern capitalists and the Southern aristocratic former slave owners to end Reconstruction—thereby killing what had been the beginning of a bourgeois democratic revolution in the South after the Civil War—there is serious concern that Black people in the U.S. are still treated as second-class citizens. One need only look at what happened during and after Hurricane Katrina to Black people on the Gulf Coast to understand that concern.
I think that freedom fighters should take another look at how they name their organizations.
Lieberman is attempting to sabotage the Democratic Party.
The conflict in the Middle East and the ongoing attempt to shape people's minds remind me of a
book - "1984" by George Orwell. I offer a snippet here to encourage all to read this primer on
...there is probably no term that is more repugnant and immoral than the one that discards the importance of other people's lives are mere collateral damage; especially when their deaths become incidental to the conquest of some military or political objective. As collateral damage, these people suffer the same outcome as fat discarded by a butcher...
There was a meeting of sane, concerned people, to include Tom Hayden, Cindy Sheehan, and members of Iraq Veterans Against the War and United for Peace and Justice. Held in Jordan, it was attended by official representatives of the Shiite coalition now holding power, the minority Sunni bloc, the anti-occupation Muslim Scholars Association, parliamentarians and torture victims from Abu Ghraib. Here is what Tom Hayden wrote about his 3 days there.
Back in 1996, a clique of Neocons, led by Richard Perle, concocted a scheme for Israel to "destabilize" the Middle East. The Palestinians were to be crushed and Iraq and Lebanon balkanized. The U.S. and UK were conned into doing the Neocons' dirty work in Iraq. Now, Hezbollah fighters have tossed a huge wrench into the not-so-clever plot. Instead of Israel becoming "safer," the Neocons have put its citizens at risk and its army in danger of defeat.
We progressives ought to suggest ways to accomplish 'World Peace'. I thought one of the tenets of being a progressive is an absolute embrace of equality. The fact is, under the skin we all are equal and the U.S. Declaration of Independence says we are equal before the law. So that covers the skin and the judgements we make.
