Protester Arrested at U.S. Capitol Asks: What About the First Amendment?
Arrest at the Capitol Activists took their case for ending the Iraqi War to the party responsible for authorizing it--the U.S. Congress! On Sept. 26, 2006, 71 protesters were arrested by police on various charges. The organizing groups for the event were the "National Campaign for Nonviolence Resistance" (NCNR) and the "Declaration of Peace." One of the protesters arrested was Max Obuszewski of the NCNR. He demanded to know: "What about the First Amendment?"

in reading today's PORTLAND TRIBUNE about Multnomah County District

911: The Pod and the Petty
In the 911 hoax, illusion rules. Like a novel by Nabokov or a play by Pirandello, reality and illusion get all mixed up. This is no environment for the intellectually insecure who seek smug academic certitude. The situation argues for the widest tolerance and openness. Here in the twittering, ambiguous, illusory world of 911, any possibility can be entertained.

Murdering cops do not exist in a vacuum
Several months ago, a writer on this site was excoriated for suggesting that we boycott the Sandy Days celebration, in support of the parents of Fouad Kaady, and in protest of an out of control police department, where the chief of police had the temerity to arrest the grieving father of Carlos Rubio, for speaking out about his grief, and demanding an investigation into his son's death.

Democracy is such a charade that for centuries now, regardless of election or of time and place, the elites of all nations have yet to lose the power and control of their respective states. Democracy seems at odds with the historical preference of the masses, generation after generation, for authoritarianism and tyranny.

AMERIKKA'S ONGOING WAR AGAINST INDIANS
The war against Indians began shortly after the Puritans invaded our country. Outright murder of Indian people was commonplace and sanctified by the Catholic church via its specious papal-sanctioned "Right of Discovery" and "Manifest Destiny" doctrines, all of which are categorized in what we now know as "The Great White Lie." Our warriors were murdered with impunity, our women violently raped and tortured, our children kidnapped and molested sexually, psychologically, emotionally, and spiritually.

There may be probable cause to try George W. Bush for capital crimes. Bush is losing it. He's combative, belligerent, rambling, disconnected and overtly defensive. He's desperately trying to come up with various defenses on various fronts —all ex post facto. One is tempted to tell him: give up, George! Surrender to the authorities! You get one phone call; use it to get in touch in Jim Baker. Get your lies straight!
