"Human Recourses (Ree-Kor-Sez) is real and straight talk about work, jobs, wage slavery, unions, the guvmint, employers, and other topics related to the real world of employment. As an antidote to the company line, and the synchopants that seem to tow it in governments and union bureaucracies, we will attempt in earnest to simply call bullshit; and provide some insight on what to do about it..."

"Information is power and whoever controls the information has the power." This simple axiom applies today more than ever in America - with an addition to it. Whoever controls information access has the power to control the direction of our country, especially since the media are the most pervasive and omnipresent purveyors of information in the U.S. // ? 2006, Sasha A. How Turtle Island was Stolen
I read and saw with much displeasure the racial comments and tirade from the former Seinfeld star during his comedic act last week (from many media sources), but the M word pissed me off.
damn, i'm funny!
Nobel Peace Prize nominee, Kathy Kelly, gave a talk at the UMBC campus, on Nov. 20, 2006. She mocked the ex-Secretary of State, James Baker, for saying he wasn't going to "wring his hands" about past mistakes in Iraq. Baker heads up the so-called "Iraq Study Group." Kelly roared: "We will wring our hands! One of the ways to stop this next war is to tell the truth about this war. And, it's not going to be such a pleasant mirror to look into."
We've all heard people say that the land is being murdered. Usually, I'll think of trees and oceans when this is brought up. Below is a photo I find shocking. A true symbol for what is happening everyday.

As the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq continue, the cost has now reached $500 billion, and the price is still climbing.
Today as I rode my bicycle thought the Lents neighborhood (an urban renewal neighborhood) I saw the usual sights. Neighbors helping each other clear storm drains, a mass movement of cars coming and going from I-205, and quite a few fellow cyclists. But at approximately 2:45 I rolled past SE 82nd and Foster rd. and saw three patrol cars surrounding the local squat.

Must be lots of John Philips Sousa fans out there.
Minority party candidates have no chance of being elected in this two-party electotal system because the Republican and Democratic parties have a stranglehold on the electoral system. But does it need to be this way. Absolutely not.

Thanks you so so much to everyone who supported Cecilia and I with love, letters, food, money, legal representation, outreach & media work, organizing fundraisers (especially the garage sale), yardwork, firewood, palm readings, cranio-sacral body work, and loaned-cars that allowed Ceci to make the 5 hour drive to visit me when our car broke. It is important that as a community we stood up against Grand Juries and the McCarthy-esque Green Scare. My role was no more important than yours. We couldn't have done it without you. This has been a success for us all in community-building at a time when the Federales have been spreading divisiveness. Hooray for solidarity! All for one and one for all!
Let's continue this support for the other Grand Jury resistors in San Francisco and wherever else they may be.

Rangel is calling for a return to the draft, while McCain is calling for sending MORE troops to Iraq in a futile attempt to defeat both the brutal civil war and the popular resistance to US occupation.
Counterinsurgency experts estimate ONE MILLION TROOPS would be "needed" in Iraq. That return to the draft that Rangel wants would be the only way to get them.
Thank goodness this book is not getting a big welcome in Portland.
Karen Armstrong is an author, Feminist and scholar. On Nov. 16, 2006, she gave a talk in Washington, D.C., on the role of Religion in the Arab-Israeli dispute. Armstrong said that the problem was essentially "political," but because it had been allowed to fester, it has taken on significant "symbolic" meanings for Muslims, Christians and Jews alike. She sharply criticized the Christian Right for its literal interpretation of the Book of Revelations.

...Hold Bush Accountable~Interview with Matthew Rothschild, editor of The Progressive magazine, conducted by Between the Lines' Scott Harris
ready to prevent another horror?
Scientists who study human evolution have discovered the evolutionary origins of morality. The concept of morality exists in every culture on Earth, but the morals themselves are different, which causes a lot of conflict in the world. Now that the Democrats own Congress, I'm sure that conflict is about to get very interesting...
Protest contiues at the World Trade Center
Opportunism marches under two or more banners: proclaiming the need for a revolutionary workers' party on the great anniversaries of the socialist movement or in a box at the corner of the party's newspaper, and the rest of the time selling a discounted "alternative" party, not quite revolutionary, not quite socialist, half price for the less advanced workers.
Thanksgiving: An Indigenous Perspective. Back by popular demand, here ya go! Geez, and I was feeling SO insecure about my journalism and "middle class" activism.
11/12/06 "Information Clearing House" -- -- When Dick Cheney woke up on Wednesday morning, his entire world had changed. The House and Senate was in control of the Democrats, Bush Senior's buddy Robert Gates had taken over at the Pentagon, and his most-trusted ally, Don Rumsfeld, had been thrown overboard.

[Here's a translation of the latest article from the Venezuelan Trotskyists. It is of special interest in the United States, where the left entirely capitulates to the Bolivarian popular front headed by Hugo Chávez, thinking that their blind endorsement of class collaboration is some kind of "solidarity." Solidarity with whom? With what class?]

When the people marched protesting against war and torture one of the demands was impeachment. Now that the new congress will be installed with a Democrat majority will the people still demand impeachment?
Interview with Mel Goodman, former CIA analyst and senior fellow at the Center for International Policy, conducted by Between the Lines' Scott Harris
soooo...while the lame-duck congress in the US goes ahead with passing some of the most draconian laws yet, like the one they passed yesterday that makes protesting animal cruelty at a circus or an animal lab a terrorist act (!) -- which, by the way, goes right along with their stated priorities of 'who is a threat'......ie. not bin laden or the saudis who fund him.... but instead, as the FBI has stated publicly on multiple occasions, their 'Number One Domestic Terrorist Threat' is the 'animal
liberation front', an organization that has never ever been charged with killing or hurting anyone, but whose only purpose is to rescue animals from cruel conditions (!)....
It was those durn rednecks!
Just a question: Why is there so much pubic discussion supporting the removal of bad teachers when there is no discussion of removing bad cops?
Oaxaca occupies a sacred place in my heart; her mountains, coast, mole and native corns nourished my spirit for a good part of the years I lived in Mexico and her people—mis companeros/as—have been my teachers and friends.
But this has been a sad couple of weeks.
October 31 I found myself locked to the front door of the Mexican Consulate in Portland, Oregon to protest the violent repression against the People's Popular Assembly of Oaxaca (APPO), a peaceful resistance movement in Oaxaca.
...New Palestinian Unity Government~Interview with Nadia Hijab, senior fellow at the Institute for Palestine Studies, conducted by Between the Lines' Melinda Tuhus
This is an update on the current situation in Oaxaca City.
Traveling to a big city for a major anti-corporate protest is great. But it's not good enough, especially if those who can't travel with you are not encouraged to protest at home.
A look at the events in Oaxaca and a critical look at the APPO and their program of struggle.
The former Soviet Union and Nazi Germany were two nations that banned their citizens from travelling abroad without first obtaining
government permission. When the new law goes into effect next year, the U.S. will be added to that list.
If you want the new, Democrat-led Congress to stand up for peace, NOW is the time to call or fax Rep. Nancy Pelosi and your Representatives and urge them to support a peacemaker--not a war-enabler--as Chairman of the House International Affairs Committee.
Today Trent Lott, Republican Senator from Mississippi was elected Minority Whip by a secret ballot of 25-24 to beat out Sen. Lamar Alexander of Tennessee.
