The former Green Candidate for US President (and Dems favorite scapegoat for the hard-fighting Gore/Lieberman loss to BusChENEY) articulates his support more as an attack on Hillary--"a corporate Democrat"--than embracing Edwards' rhetoric. Think Dems are suspiciously wondering just what Ralph's up to now?
grandpa told me that to solve most crimes, find out who benefits.
A little backgrounder...
This means that 16 states with less than a thousand Greens have 32 delegate votes in the Green Party's National Committee enabling them to outvote states like Pennsylvania which has 15,000 Greens yet only eight delegate votes.
The emerging revolution in communications is accelerating
the crisis in activists groups (like the Revolutionary Communist
Party) which have strong cult features. At the same time,
the communications revolutions will also be of great help
in the process of activists sorting out their errors and
regrouping on a healthier and more solid basis
The assassination of Bhutto could galvanize resistance to the Al Queda/CIA false flag operations. The Kent State massacre galvanized the people of the United States against the Vietnam War.
The left wing of the antiwar movement has some very serious problems, mainly our inability to recognize that the antiwar sentiment in the United States is resonating far beyond the confines of the so-called "left."
We cannot step back and effectively analyze the failures of the antiwar movement without peering under the hood of John Kerry's campaign in 2004. In essence, I think the majority of the left made a huge mistake on this issue by not opposing the Democrats; the movement supported a pro-war position by not opposing Sen. Kerry, who promised to continue the occupation of Iraq. There was no pressure on Kerry to alter his position on the war. No bird-dogging protests along the campaign trail. No outrage over his flip-flopping-let's-send-more-troops-into-battle rhetoric. Silence during election season is complicity. So let's be loud.
some thoughts on Benazir Bhutto's assassination
The article below by Sherry Wolf explains (in a way that everyone can understand) why being "anti-war" or supposedly "anti-fascist" should not be in an of itself a good enough reason to support Ron Paul.
The following excerpt challenges those who are considering supporting Paul to look a little deeper into the latest internet phenomenon.
"Supporters of Ron Paul who show up to protests should have their reactionary conclusions challenged, not embraced. Those of his supporters who are wholly ignorant of his broader politics beyond the war, should be educated about them. And those who advocate his noxious politics, should be attacked for their racism, immigrant bashing, and hostility to the values a genuine Left champions. The sort of Left-Right alliance Frank advocates is not only opportunistic, but is also a repellent to creating the multiracial working-class movement that is sorely needed of we are to end this war. What Arabs, Blacks, Latinos-and antiracist whites, for that matter-would ever join a movement that accommodates to this know-nothing brand of politics?"
Disaster Capitalism. Bush and Bush crime family affiliates gain from any major crisis that fans the flames of his "war on terror."
At Christmas time it has been my habit to write a column in remembrance of the many innocent people in prisons whose lives have been stolen by the US criminal justice (sic) system that is as inhumane as it is indifferent to justice. Usually I retell the cases of William Strong and Christophe Gaynor, two men framed in the state of Virginia by prosecutors and judges as wicked and corrupt as any who served Hitler or Stalin.
This year is different. All Americans are now imprisoned in a world of lies and deception created by the Bush Regime and the two complicit parties of Congress, by federal judges too timid or ignorant to recognize a rogue regime running roughshod over the Constitution, by a bought and paid for media that serves as propagandists for a regime of war criminals, and by a public who have forsaken their Founding Fathers.
Pacific Power has is using Oregon's newspapers to lie about the Klamath dams. Numerous reports show that keeping these polluting dams will cost costumers way more money then removing them, and that the dams do not provide for flood control. Science shows that these dams cause one of the worst toxic algae problems in the world while killing salmon. The Oregonian did not print the response of the Klamath Riverkeeper, or the other groups and tribes working to let Oregonians know the truth about why the dams should go. This is what we wrote in response to Pacific Powers lies.
From book subtitled: The Authoritarian Nature of the Three Abrahamic Religions: as When God Became the Terrorist: The major thesis of this book is that authoritarianism, as a "human" personality trait, throughout history, has influenced both the "creation" and the "interpretation", of religious and political dogma, and that this was even more so before there was a constituted division between Church and State. In Judeo-Christianity and Islamic authority, to some extent, is the egotistic imprint of monotheism in which God basically is perceived to have a "psychological" ego consciousness able to understand and communicate with the human ego consciousness of mankind. Particularly, we will want to focus on the ideas of justice—both the ideas of divine metaphysical justice and human social justice. According to Daniel Defoe, in no trivial sense, "Justice is the end of government".
The 2008 presidential election is heating up. Neocon-Lite Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-MD), in a spiel in the Baltimore Examiner, blasted President George W. Bush for shortchanging national priorities because of the cost of the Iraq War. She failed to mention, however, that she has been an enabler of that conflict and has done nothing to end it. The cynical Democratic Party strategy is to let the Iraq War continue and to blame Bush for everything.
The gap between the urgent threat of global warming and the collective will to do something about it has never been greater. The recently concluded Conference on Climate Change in Bali was a grand opportunity to act. Instead, it was another missed opportunity. Unfortunately, the United States played a very negative role, standing in the way of consensus at every turn. And unfortunately, the rest of the world thought that seducing the US into a new agreement on climate action was top priority, resulting in a Bali Roadmap that was very sketchy.

The fact that the brother was found face down on his apartment floor and that according to the coroner there were no signs of violence or "Foul play" means nothing. The Democrats and Republicans have made it clear that they are the corporate parties and they only represent the interests of the capitalists and the billionaires. The new energy bill is another long term payment plan that will be required of working class people while the billionaires continue to collect.
This is now Part One of a multi-part series. It has been reworked and is full of surprises for those who read the first article.
We arrived at the house to find the front entrance closed with a sign pointing to a "secret" entrance through a side door.
As the wars drag on with no end in sight, new technology is enabling more of our wounded troops to survive, and naturally, survival comes with added cost.
From WWII to the present, survival rates rose from 1 dead for every 2.4 wounded to 1 dead to 8.3 wounded at present. In that time, an outfit cost went from $170 to $17,000 now. Future systems are expected to reach $28,000 to $60,000 in this decade. Every life is indeed precious, regardless of the price, but let us look at what makes up the cost of each system.
Ever since, President Eisenhower coined the term Military Industrial Complex, most of us are aware of the huge profits war can provide for the weapon makers. How many of you are aware of the Prison Industrial Complex, (PIC)? Do you know the two complexes have now joined together to share in the rich profit bonanza?
The PIC, one of the fastest growing industries in the nation is a network of public and private prisons, military personnel, politicians, business contacts, prison guard unions, contractors, sub-contractors, and suppliers, ALL making huge profits. And what makes all this profit possible?

Review of Derrick Jensen's Q&A last night in Portland
As someone who truly respects and admires much of Derrick Jensen's work as an author and activist, I had been disappointed in the past when Derrick appeared to simply repeat what appeared to be a well rehearsed "production" at each of his last three speaking engagements in Portland. But last night was different, in a very good way.

All the hype in local news since yesterday evening is the heart rending story of poor Mr. Christie, who was mistakenly arrested, and held without bail, all because he walks with a waddle, and some asshole thought he might look like the picture the FBI had posted, of the so called "Waddling Bandit."
"The title of the article captures it all: "Cultivate grass roots to build support for project" "That's right. Development companies should co-opt the community involvement process, local leadership, the social network, and local culture to "market" their properties to us, or at the very least, create acceptance of their presence in the community.
Iraq Moratorium #4 on Friday, Dec. 21, asks people to take some action, individually or collectively, to show that they want the war to end. Actions are scheduled across the country, many with a holiday flavor. None of the 88 events listed are in Oregon, but that doesn't prevent individual actions on Friday.

Thousands of people across the continent have weighed in to say NO to the FCC's plan to allow further consolidation of the media. Indeed, millions. More than 3 million people told them NO last year when they tried this. And thousands more spoke up this time. And still, the rubber-stamping took place today. In spite of overwhelming public opposition, the FCC voted today to give all of our stories away to a tiny, control-freaking, corporate elite. Why?
A senior Official of Irainian Ministry of Defense defected Feburary 2007 with a brief case of documents and personal information which led to the reacessment of Irans nuclear weapons program. Experts say Bush knew long before information released to public.
His father was a drunk who regularly beat him. His name was Josef Stalin. Born in Russia's Georgia, in 1878, under the rule of the Romanov Czars, he excelled as a student, while building up a deep resentment towards the cruel occupiers of his Caucasus region. Stalin became a Marxist revolutionist and a master conspirator. The book, "Young Stalin," by Simon Sebag Montefiore, tells how this merciless, but extremely talented, psychopath was forged.

In horror, today, I realized that I will probably vote for Hillary Clinton in the next election. I say that I am horrified by that because I do not believe in elections, I do not believe in the democrats, and I do not believe in Hillary Clinton either. But, I'm going to vote for her anyway. Here's why.

"The guards wore black masks and black clothes. They would not utter a word as they extracted Bashmilah from his cell for interrogation -- one of his few interactions with other human beings during his entire 19 months of imprisonment. Nobody told him where he was, or if he would ever be freed. It was enough to drive anyone crazy. Bashmilah finally tried to slash his wrists with a small piece of metal, smearing the words "I am innocent" in blood on the walls of his cell. But the CIA patched him up." from Salon.com

"Parasites that breed in fish farms kill so many juvenile wild salmon that they threaten the survival of fish populations in some rivers and streams, Canadian researchers are reporting."
"...The parasitic sea lice prey on juvenile wild salmon when they swim past these fish pens on their way from inland rivers to the ocean..."
"...But not everyone accepts this view of sea lice. According to Fisheries and Oceans Canada, a government agency responsible for developing aquaculture while safeguarding wild fish stocks, 'no direct cause and effect" has been established between sea lice prevalence and salmon mortality. The agency says sea lice prevalence is 'a complex ecosystem puzzle' in need of further study."
"Brian Riddell, an ecologist with the agency, said in an interview that factors including fishing practices, logging and climate change can affect salmon abundance and added that it would be a mistake 'to become overly focused on a single point...'"
"...The authors of the new report said their findings show action should be taken quickly. It might take 10 salmon generations to accumulate large sets of data on the effects of farm-related parasite infestations, they said in their report, and that 'greatly exceeds the predicted time to extinction.'"
Far from Bali, home in the United States, it appears the US environmental movement is so desperate that we can do little but focus on getting something, anything from our country's negotiators at the UN Climate meetings, who appear to be bent on utter inaction.
Yet the appearance of unmovable obstructionism hides a deeper truth.
Peace and Freedom Party and Socialist Party USA fully support protecting the rights of working class people on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border and both socialist parties oppose building border walls. All the 2008 candidates, from the two socialist parties, favor strengthening ties with Mexico and developing policy that will benefit working people in both countries and worldwide.

As inflation rises from increased food and fuel prices we are looking at an economic down turn like we saw in the late 1970's. Resession combined with inflation means tough times for those dependant on work for income.
If we're to evolve out of our current crisis, we must hold ourselves and our leaders to account.
AT 44 years since the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, the war in Iraq and the Bush family saga have magnified the need to declassify documents related to the November 22, 1963 attack that affected not only the United States but, to a surprising degree, Cuba, and the rest of the world.

I am going to respond to the individual points you raised one by one in correspondence later today. What has been missing altogether however has been any communication beyond "someone will get back to you but not right away" spoken one year ago. That information was withheld. That certainly makes communication difficult, interferes with understanding and escalates concerns significantly. From the reports of citizens and evidence in public records, there has been further deterioration over the past year.
