NAU: Wanted Dead or Alive
We might have the globalists on the ropes, but they aren't about to throw in the towel just yet. They are in their corner regrouping, retooling, plotting a different strategy, looking for a weakness. They are predators, conniving, ruthless, arrogantly confident and at the same time highly motivated. Much of their agenda has already been achieved incrementally. At the same time, they are only human and make mistakes, and they can be defeated. They were counting on a dumbed down uninformed public, and what they got was resistance to their plans to create a North American Union.

The WTO's Last Gasp
Most had already pronounced it dead, and were surprised to learn that the WTO had meet in a frenzied attempt to conclude its "Doha Round" negotiations. The prospects for wrapping up the deal were always slim, however, and now the WTO has lapsed peacefully back into coma. It was made official on July 29th, when it was announced that the trade talks had officially collapsed.

Doha has confirmed what everybody already knew: the WTO is dead. And although keeping a brain dead patient on life support is sometimes comforting, the plug must be pulled eventually. The US and the EU refused to lower agricultural subsides (for their giant Agri-corporations), while China and other emerging economies refused to open their markets wide enough (protecting their own mega-corporations) for the leading industrialized countries.

Radovan and His Appeasers
A Bosnian friend of mine here in Tokyo sent me a mail to let me know about Radovan's arrest, after 10 years on the run in the heart of Europe. My friend almost cried when she heard the news. I felt almost nothing. What does get a rise out of me is the names that I associate with Radovan when I hear Karadzic. Names that the coward mainstream media are keeping clean and safe, and I mean real safe, not like Srebrenica.

When I hear Radovan, in my head it resonates like Lord David Owen, Cyrus R. Vance, John Major, Douglas Hurd, G. Bush Sr., Bill Clinton, Mitterrand, Yasushi Akashi, Boutros Boutros Ghali, Yeltsin... ...
Will they be in the dock with Radovan in The Hague, as well?

What Will It Take to Defeat the War?
On June 28-29, an "Open National Antiwar Conference" was held in Cleveland, called by a newly minted National Assembly to End the Iraq War and Occupation. Over objections from the conference organizers, centrally Socialist Action, the assembly voted to change the name to include reference to the war on Afghanistan, and to emphasize the connection with U.S. backing for the Zionist occupation of Palestine. (The sponsors of the confab were so right-wing that they feared losing "unity" with Democratic Party supporters of Israel and the Afghanistan war!) What did not change at all was the popular-front character of the new outfit, tying it to the bourgeois parties despite the fig leaf of electoral "independence." Making this utterly clear, it was decided not to call a national antiwar mobilization prior to the November elections explicitly in order to court those forces who wish to aid the Democrats (and therefore want to avoid making problems for the presumptive Democratic nominee, Barack Obama). Here is the leaflet issued by the Internationalist Group at the conference.

The financial crisis deepens with the nationalization of IndyMac and the likely bailout of Freddie Mac and Fannie May by the US taxpayer. The financial crisis has company as inflation, and in particular huge increases in global food and energy prices, enters the fray.

The American economic model has been discredited and the American century has lasted but a few decades. These developments have and will further open up a new period in the struggle between capital and labor on the world stage and the US working class will have a major role to play as it re-connects with its militant traditions.

Obama outlines policy of endless war
For those that have taken the "blue pill" and have bought into the latest "corporatist militarist" trotted out by the Democratic party, they need to look beyond the hype and actually listen to what this guy is saying.

(WSWS) -- Any misconception that Barack Obama is running in the 2008 election as an "antiwar" candidate should have been cleared up Tuesday in what was billed by the Democratic presidential campaign as a "major speech" on national security and the US war in Iraq.

Speaking before a backdrop of massed American flags at the Reagan Building in Washington, Obama made it clear that he opposes the present US policy in Iraq not on the basis of any principled opposition to neo-colonialism or aggressive war, but rather on the grounds that the Iraq war is a mistaken deployment of power that fails to advance the global strategic interests of American imperialism.

Police Line at the White House Conspiracy is as American as apple pie. Every day in America, in state and federal courts, some defendant faces charges of conspiracy. I submit that since 1891, a conspiracy has existed, forged by British imperialist Cecil Rhodes, and others, to reduce America to a vassal state of the New World Order. It is beyond cavil that the policies of Dubya (George W. Bush) have been an absolute disaster for America. Could Dubya be working for the NWO?

Gun Shows and Immigration in Portland
At key points in history the state and ruling class have directly utilized the Ku Klux Klan and other white supremacist groups as an instrument of terror, yet recently it has also seen necessary to attempt to reign in these tendencies, with differing levels of success. As the white nationalist Right grew increasingly militant into the 1990s, the Clinton government launched very real attacks on the militia movement and the militant wing of the anti-abortion movement. The rise and terror of,"The Order,( http://www.freetheorder.org/)" serial killings of abortion doctors, the shoot-out at Ruby Ridge, the Oklahoma City bombing all provide evidence of the potentially insurgent capabilities of these movements, and the state's need to confront it.

This has occurred as a new, internationalist and globalized capitalism has emerged, and concurrently, the structures of white supremacy have shifted. The new, "multicultural" face of the state and official institutions under this new regimen now find tensions with an old form of white supremacy still fostered by nationalist elements. Although the leadership and core of these elements appear to be composed of a dying 'middle' class (landlords, cops, real estate agents and dentists), their pandering appeals to new fears and lingering white supremacist notions within white workers. Many of these groupings, initially supported by or even formed by agents of Capital and the US State, now find themselves in (or moving towards an increasingly) anti-government stances.

As he now panders to seemingly any right-wing group that can fill a room, his staff is arranging fundraisers where the cover charge is $30,000. Bob Herbert of the NYT echos the "disillusion" of "many of Obama's strongest supporters who are uneasy, upset, dismayed and even angry."

The Audacity of Hype - Obama and the Future of an Illusion
In the aftermath of Senator Barack Obama's capitulation to the Bush Administration's new FISA bill and in the face of continuing evidence that Obama is more of a triangulating than transformative politician, many of his "progressive" defenders are doing their own triangulating tango in order to remain loyal followers. More than mere loyal legions, a number of these progressive pundits remain active advocates for the Obama campaign. In the process, they have articulated arguments that cry out for rebuttal, especially from those of us who still have some glimmer of a hope that real, if not radical, change is possible in the near future.

“Progressives for Obama” Fool Themselves
By Glen Ford of dissidentvoice.org. A good polemic to wake people up from the fog of Obama. While some of it is highly questionable, especially the final paragraph, it does a good job of showing Obama for what he truly is. A snake oil salesman. The Great Manipulator if you will. While millions were intoxicated by the thought of a progressive black man in the white house, he is moving quickly to kill the grassroots movement he harnessed into a nomination. If anything he is terrified by the prospect of millions of mobilized students, poor, people of color, and members of of a declining middle class that this system is in the process of throwing in the trash.

Why Does Barack Obama Hate My Family?
Addressing a congregation at the Apostolic Church of God, one of Chicago's largest black churches, on Father's Day, Barack Obama said:

"Too many fathers are M.I.A., too many fathers are AWOL, missing from too many lives and too many homes. They have abandoned their responsibilities, acting like boys instead of men."

This was his "Sister Souljah" moment. Just as Bill Clinton during his 1992 campaign tried to reassure whites that he wasn't too cozy with blacks by denouncing a rapper, Obama was appealing to whites by condemning his own.
