Why the double standard? He is the Change don't you get it? George Bush ran in Texas as the Change candidate, there wasn't much disappointment in him. Hillary ran as a change candidate, I don't think she's let anyone down. Why good ole Barack? I suppose you think Ronald Reagan as senile as he was made decisions? You must think George Bush, Mr. C average put the US into Iraq? If you think that you must think Jimmy Carter held the fate of the United States in his very thought processes? So of course now you think Obama determines the fate of US now? Have you considered the people who explain policy are not usually the people who make it? Have U considered Kofi Annan was the president of the UN? How much power did old Kofi have, what about Mr. Moon now? TO CALL THINGS BY THERE RIGHT NAME!

According to some sources, some of which are rather politically "conservative," a new "struggle" against this Green Peril is being waged in both Congress, and by President Obama. It seems at least conceivable that this nascent legislation could bring $1 million fines per day to family farmers, or even to people with home gardens (unless they can afford $10,000 dollar inspections, etc.). Now there is an idea who's time has come!
(This could all be about a corporate media Clintonization of Obama and the Dems, however.)
The Democrats are now laying the groundwork to finally ratify LOST. Proponents view ratifying the treaty as an opportunity for the U.S. to further promote global security and stability. Critics maintain that under LOST, the U.S. would be forced to surrender more sovereignty to the UN.
Party of Former Leftist Guerillas Wins El Salvador's Presidential Election
Interview with Max Garcia, Committee in Solidarity with the People of El Salvador, conducted by Scott Harris
This year marks the 6th year of the illegal and brutal war and occupation of Iraq by the US. Over 300 people took to the streets in Salem, OR on March 15 to protest against the ongoing occupation and war on Iraq.
The SPP might have outlived its usefulness under its current name, but it is doubtful that multinational business elites are about to abandon it entirely, unless there is something to replace it. The global elite have not abandoned their vision for a North American Union and the SPP will rise again in one form or another.
Very good speech by Ralph Nader at Benson High School last May.
Are Mexican drug cartels a threat to the United States? This is an easy conclusion to make after reading most mainstream U.S. newspapers. Hardly a day goes by without sensational stories about "broad daylight" gun battles, heart-wrenching interviews with weeping mothers, and praise for the Mexican army in its "war" against "narco-terrorists."
Interestingly, Mexico has lately been compared to Pakistan as a country "on the verge" of becoming a "failed state," with the Mexican drug cartels accused of playing the same "destabilizing" role as the Taliban/terrorists in Pakistan. Calling such a comparison a stretch would be a gross understatement, of course.

On March 24th, 1989, the Exxon Valdez spilled millions of gallons of oil into Prince William Sound.
While the government has been concerting effort to crack down on animal liberation activists in California and Utah, there has been an unexpected rise in underground activity. So far there have been roughly 16 underground actions taken since the beginning of January - 6 in March alone (and the month's not over yet!)
Any fresh denial to the government when questioned about committing a crime "even when you did not do it" can "involuntarily waive" your right to assert in your defense—the "Criminal Statute of Limitations" has passed for prosecution.
This Tuesday, the Rhizome Collective will begin to die its slow death. All residents and backspace organizations have been forced to vacate. Many fear the blow of losing one's home will taper any gained momentum to save the space.
Single-Payer Marginalized at Obama Health Care Reform Summit
Interview with Dr. Oliver Fein, president of Physicians for a National Health Program, conducted by Melinda
Obama promised hope. The Tao says "Hope is as dangerous as fear" and I have been mindful of this throughout the past year. Obama has reneged on his promises as predicted. No single payer insurance. We will be required to get it. Our health records will be pimped out across the board feeding the vipers at the American Medical Association.

Obama Budget Makes Clean Break with Bush Trickle-Down Ideology
Interview with Robert Borosage, co-director of Campaign for America's Future, conducted by Scott Harris
There are fears that ending the program could strain relations with Mexico and spark some sort of trade retaliation. Allowing Mexican trucks full access inside the U.S. is a safety issue, as well as a security threat which could increase drug and human smuggling. In light of the growing drug cartel violence in Mexico, further securing the border should be a national security priority.
Because the development of a new energy technology has now become inevitable, and will happen, it is important that it be discussed and properly understood, and that people are made aware of changes to come.
Eminent Marxist geographer David Harvey, author of A Brief History of Neoliberalism, spoke to Sasha Lilley of the radical radio program Against the Grain, about the origins and trajectory of the neoliberal creed.
I am often asked by friends and acquaintances why I continue to be involved in the Green party when many of my viewpoints don't see to match the actions and official party positions. I must admit that I have asked myself that question many times over the years.
I guess the answer that I ultimately always come up with is this.
I concede that I do not believe that we can fix this corrupt system from within its current political framework. But nor do I believe you can have a "successful" revolution in the streets without having a viable alternative to turn to when the post revolution dust settles.
The great John Reed once said that "revolution is like a raging river that knows no path",
Thus building a true opposition party is mandatory if we want more than just an overthrow of the current corporate controlled two party system and all that goes with it. We must have some viable structure in place to deal with this transition if we wish to direct it and keep it from degrading into another self serving centralized hierarchical authority.
Cindy Sheehan Calls for Protest Against Obama Iraq and Afghanistan War Policy
Interview with peace activist Cindy Sheehan, conducted by Scott Harris
During the presidential campaign, Latinos declared, "Today we march, tomorrow we vote," says Francisco Lopez, Director of Oregon's Immigrant Rights Coalition CAUSA. "We voted. We are sending him [Obama] the invoice." Last November, two-thirds of the record-setting 10 million voting Latinos cast a ballot for Barack Obama, who committed to pass comprehensive immigration reform if elected.

The UNCRC infringes upon parental authority and represents a massive intrusion by the state into family affairs. It has the potential to radically alter parent-child relationships. The UN definitely has no business telling parents how to raise their children and neither does the government unless there is evidence of neglect or abuse.
It is clear that Canada must lessen its dependency on the U.S., but if future free trade deals are based on the failed NAFTA model, they could prove costly. A steady diet of globalization is being offered as a solution to Canada's economic woes. While there is a need to expand Canadian trade horizons, at the same time there is a push for further North American economic integration.

It's everywhere you look and in every speech you listen to. Every time a politician or businessmen talks about the recession, an almost in-synch, repetitive mantra can be heard: "Shared sacrifice, equality of sacrifice, hard choices." Oh my.
There must be something to it, since EVERYBODY seems to be regurgitating the phrase in harmony.
Interview with Karen Greenberg, executive director of New York University's Center on Law and Security, conducted by Scott Harris
The recent surge in kidnappings in Mexico has been blamed on so called drug cartels. While weapons allegedly stream into Gaza from Egypt, Israel is the supplying drugs to the middle-east and at the same time gaining a foothold in Mexico.
In solidarity and with utmost joy, the International League of People's Struggle joins today the celebration of women in general and their revolutionary struggle for emancipation and liberation from imperialism, feudalism and patriarchalism. We remember and honor millions of women who trailblazed and paved the path for women's liberation movement.

The very world as we know it is endangered. Each day, untold species go extinct

Is OHSU degrading the quality and increasing the costs of Oregon Medical Care? Is OHSU harvesting Oregon citizens the way Logging Companies harvest trees? Fact is, it will take more than money to fix the American Health Care System, and Oregon Medical Care serves as a perfect example as to why. Here are some things I have learned that I thought I might share with you all.

On February 19, the California legislature, after weeks of wrangling, passed a special budget to address the historically high $42 billion deficit. It represents an unadulterated washout for working people who are attacked on almost every front by the Democratic Party, which controls a broad majority in the legislature.

Why do Americans continue to play this game with big bankers and corporations?
One Reason is that The Coalition for a Democratic Workplace, Employee Freedom Action Committee, Chamber of Commerce, Alliance For Worker Freedom, Workforce Fairness Institute, Americans For Job Security, Save Our Secret Ballot, Union Busting Consultants, and other Corporate Front Groups all want you to.

Our globalized food system is a complete failure and has served to benefit multinational corporations, at the expense of small independent farmers. As a result of NAFTA and the WTO, a small number of multinational corporations control much of our food production in North America. NAFTA has been devastating for many farmers and nowhere is this more evident than in Mexico where globalization and urbanization have further fueled social unrest and coupled with the rise in drug violence, it appears as if Mexico could be on the verge of total collapse.

Analysis of the current situation in the Salvadoran presidential election.
In 1989 Catherine Austin Fitts became Assistant Secretary for Housing in Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). She began to notice money was not properly tracked as it moved between different HUD departments and there was a lack of proper accounting mechanisms to deal with discrepancies in revenue indicated fraud at an alarming level. She attempted to put in place some credible financial tracking mechanisms to identify where the money was going and to identify the responsible individuals and HUD departments, but after 18 months on the job she was suddenly fired by the Bush administration. Fitts was told the day after she left that her financial reforms through 'place-based financial accounting and statements' would also be terminated.

We are being told by the media that the current turmoil is an economic crisis. It is in fact a failure of the leaning tower of all our scientific pragmatically evolved systems of societal support. Injections of trillions is only impoverishing the middle class, enriching the upper class, and, this is doing absolutely nothing to address the real problem. The real problem has been evolving ever since the Enlightenment.

William Kleinknecht takes the gloves off in his new book,"The Man Who Sold the World: Ronald Reagan and the Betrayal of Main Street America." He shows that the so-called "great communicator," was, in fact, the "great enabler of corporate greed." The Vulture Capitalists were set loose on the people by "Reaganism." I say: Take Reagan's name off that airport in D.C. Let his Fat Cat cronies pay for his memorials, not the taxpayers.
Critical view of those currently supporting state sovereignty resolutions.
On February 16, in Salem, Oregon a rally of more than 5,000 students, teachers, parents, and social service workers assembled in front of the state capitol, demanding a solution to the state's financial crisis.
This was but one of many similar protests nationwide; and Oregon is par for the course when it comes to U.S. states neck deep in a budget crisis. It is estimated that, unless other sources of revenue are raised immediately, the state will make $800 million in cuts... by June. The projected deficit for the next two years is $2.5 billion.
Even with a new president, deeper integration will likely carry on in some form or another. It is imperative that concerned citizens in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico continue to resist any move towards a North American Union.

And the plot thickens! Bill Bergin pleads not guilty; seeks trial.
Since he was caught red-handed with the damning evidence, I'm quite curious to see how Billy-boy and his attorney have to spin this to try to get him off. At the very least, the whole thing doesn't get swept under the rug with some back door, confidential plea agreement. But wait....
We see it in our face as our society is caught in a machine of horrific greed.

An analysis of the root causes of our current economic situation reveals more than just banking greed.
