Obama Administration quietly expands Bush's legal defense of wiretapping program
In a stunning defense of President George W. Bush's warrantless wiretapping program, President Barack Obama has broadened the government's legal argument for immunizing his Administration and government agencies from lawsuits surrounding the National Security Agency's eavesdropping efforts.

In fact, a close read of a government filing last Friday reveals that the Obama Administration has gone beyond any previous legal claims put forth by former President Bush.

Obama's War on Labor
Voters expecting change keep getting rude reminders of what kind, none they can believe in reiterated again on March 30 in Obama's remarks to the auto giants. While stating "We cannot....must not (and) will not let (this) industry vanish," he laid down a clear marker. Labor, not business, is targeted. More on that below.

What Obama's Trip to Europe Revealed
Declaring something a success doesn't necessarily make it so. We learned this at the Bush-led G-20 summit only four months ago, when global leaders were expected to do something far-reaching in response to the world-wide economic crisis, instead of chatting about it. When nothing came of the meeting, we were told that the summit "succeeded" because it "laid the groundwork" for the next G-20 gathering, recently led by Obama.

The four months between G-20 summits was one of rising massive unemployment and social misery for millions of people, creating an urgency that was unmet by the world leaders in London.

Message to the Police Officer
You know you don't work for The People you work for lawyers, who work for the richest. These same lawyers who've made government their private racket have turned the Land of the Free into a slave permit society. Driving a car, bearing arms, planting crops, fishing, adding onto your home-if someone who's otherwise peaceable and upstanding does these things without government permit you go in and wreck their lives. 'Protect and Serve' means protect and serve the lawyers.

Are you smirking, laughing at this? It's no laughing matter to the Americans trying to go about their lives, trying to survive in a collapsing economy, a society at war with them. Most Americans have a thin margin of survival and when you feel like slapping them with a ticket, or smacking them with your baton and throwing them in jail because they're asserting their Right to be left alone by the state you make more Americans your sworn enemy. How many millions of Americans are already mauled by the legal system you feed for the pettiest of reasons? How many millions more will you and your thin blue line of robbers, thugs and serial killers will you feed?

Do you see why what you do matters?

Obama's Disastrous Afghan Plan
Last month President Barack Obama announced the deployment of 17,000 additional U.S. troops to Afghanistan, raising the total there to 53,000, only to add an additional 4,000 training troops this past week. Questions of a possible quagmire have begun to sprout faster than opium poppies.

In an attempt to disarm his critics, Obama has defined his policy as pointed, specific, and winnable:

Unraveling the Card Check Debate
Sometimes in politics a particular issue strikes at the core of deeper social-economic forces. Card Check - properly named The Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA)- is such an issue.

EFCA, if implemented as proposed, would allow workers at any work place to join a union simply by having the majority of employees sign union authorization cards. The current law mandates that there be a secret ballot election one month after the requisite number of signed cards are submitted. This one-month period allows employers to mount campaigns to discourage employees from voting for a union, often using conscious distortions and intimidation as tactics. EFCA would prohibit newly unionized workers from striking for two years to gain a first contract. Moreover, if a first contract has not been negotiated within the first three months, a Federal Mediator can step in and impose a contract. Currently, employers who are compelled to recognize a union do not have to concede to a negotiated contract at all; and if, after one year a contract has not been negotiated, the union can be subjected to a vote of decertification, which is often the case.

The Obama Government: Take From Workers and Give to the Rich
These past several weeks have witnessed a stunning attack on working people, with the Obama administration leading the charge.

It started with Larry Summers, Obama's chief economic adviser, responding to the A.I.G. bonuses by pontificating about the sanctity of contracts: "We are a country of law. There are contracts. The government cannot just abrogate contracts." Like a mad dog pursuing its prey, he pounced on the conclusion that absolutely nothing could be done about the bonuses. Unfortunately, Summers voiced no similar outcry when the Obama administration, only weeks earlier, insisted that the U.A.W. contracts be renegotiated as a condition for the auto industry receiving a bailout, suggesting that a different set of rules applies to the rich than to the rest of us who constitute the majority and work for a living.

It’s Time to Grow Again! Let Hemp Loose.-Production buried by past needed to strengthen US
"Hemp is anti-microbial and highly resistant to insects. It NEVER requires the use of herbicides, pesticides or chemical fertilizers.
Hemp, unlike cotton, does not deplete the soil of nutrients. This makes it cheaper to produce, eliminates groundwater pollution due to pesticide run-off, and curtails farming community exposure to toxic and cancer-causing products.
Growing hemp reduces our dependence on petroleum products such as petrochemical fertilizers. Currently 15,000 lakes in the US are so contaminated by toxic agricultural runoff that NOTHING can live in them.
Hemp paper requires less chemical processing and can be whitened without producing dioxins. Unlike wood pulp paper, hemp does not harden, yellow, or crack with age. "......Boulder Hemp Initiative Project

What is Behind the AIG Scandal
The controversy surrounding the American International Group (AIG) is one for the ages, for it starkly reveals who is really running our economic system and to what end.

In an effort to please two irreconcilable groups — the vast majority, average working Americans, versus the few financial elite — Obama has lately resembled a tightrope walker on a tattered rope. The AIG debate has now unsettled this delicate balance; no longer will it be so easy to give billions to Wall Street while fake rage is hurled against this same group.

The jig is up.
