Around the world Indigenous peoples are fighting for their lands.
I wrote that for K.Kuneva , Unions and not only at the start of this year .
this small "article" it was written at the first week of the riot in Greece . it is the first thing that I upload .
Nobody really argue with that and that thing make me belive that it is very close to the truth - at least not far away ....
In response to the California state budget crisis, and, to global warming urgencies, Californiia's 20th District Assemblymember Alberto Torrico has proposed Assembly Bill 656, a tax "for the privilege of severing oil or gas from the earth or water in this state," to fund higher education, especially education in renewable energy creation and maintenance.
There's a jumbled, increasingly hysterical tone to the health care debate going on in Washington. On each side of the uproar lie powerful and opposing interests: on one side the giant corporations who make billions of dollars via the status quo; and on the other, the majority of working people who suffer immensely from it.
Creating a health care "compromise" between these two interests is of course impossible, but seeing the politicians in Congress attempt one is at least good entertainment.
The great strategic importance of Iran to the United States gives me an opinion differing from the mainstream media and most of the leftist media. I could be wrong in this opinion, but the riots in the streets of Tehran brought back memories of when Mossadegh was overthrown by the CIA in 1953.
Another sham election in Iran angers youth. Major riots involving riot police, rubber bullets, death and injured.
I've tried to post this 4 times now. Why is indymedia blacking this out?
Planned prior the shooting of a black guard at the Holocaust Museum, the US was doing multinational and multi-agency military drills for the same story; Internet groups and search engines were scheduled to be shut down and whistle-blowers and those expressing similar concerns or connections were being targeted; attempts to reduce US funding of Israel and war profiteers were being resisted; there were searches for excuses to have non-Muslims in the highest-security prisons in each state that are similar to or worse than Guantanamo Bay; other acts of terrorism by white heterosexual self-acclaimed "Christian" pro-gun anti-bank males were encouraged and allowed/exploited by the same government to terrorize dissidents; efforts were in place to silence reports on the USS Liberty and other ships attacked by the largest recipient of US tax-dollars the Israeli elite which attacks its own pro-peace/justice citizens; larger coal and nuclear disasters are being funded that kill Americans; various intelligence-gathering groups were being targeted for prosecution for their alleged similarities with the future alleged gunman; other important news and immediate decisions were hidden from attention, etc.
Many Indian nationals had their marriages in India and domicile in the United States. They travel back to India for the purpose of obtaining divorce judgments according to the Hindu law. The issue of jurisdiction becomes important factor for the recognition of their foreign divorce judgments in the United States. This article analyzes this issue.
Perhaps we should stop shouting at one another.
James Scott's book, "Attack on the Liberty: The Untold Story of Israel's Deadly 1967 Assault on the U.S. Spy Ship," makes for a compelling read. The onslaught, on June 8, 1967, in international waters, during the Six-Day War, off the coast of Sinai, killed 34 crew members and injured 171 others. Israel claimed that it was all "just an accident...a case of mistaken identity." Scott makes a very strong case that the assault on the "Liberty" was deliberate.
California is the only state in the U.S. that donates its oil and natural gas reserves to the private oil and gas industry, untaxed. Were it a nation, it would be the only nation in the world to do so. And it has continued to, even as schools close and the State of California threatens to close its doors.
Officer on horse takes a spill, animal emerges unhurt but why put the poor critter in this situation in the first place?

Very few of us are aware of the virtual armies of people that are listed on the internet by those searching for them or their identities. These virtual armies are missing and unidentified persons and they are only a small representation of the whole. There is so many of them that detectives are crushed under the weight of all the cases. This is an issue that impacts every state, every city, every person. It exists on every day of every year. Yet problems plague the current situation and the public remains ignorant to how it will harm them.
A political analysis of the events causing in-fighting following the BashBack national convergence in Chicago, written/collaborated on by people who were there and personally affected by the choices made by others.
Jack London was a strong man himself and when he was young and an oyster pirate on San Francisco Bay he was rather a believer himself, like Wolf Larsen, that might makes right. After working in many different occupations he saw strong decent men destroyed by accidents, diseases, the cruel hand of fate and the workings of capitalism. Unless one had rich relatives, one was out of luck. Jack London became a socialist and I greatly praise him for it.
As if the bank bailouts weren't proof enough that Wall Street owned Congress. History will likely show that these bailouts involved the largest transfer of wealth ever — from the working class to that small group of billionaires who own the corporations.
This fact is recognized by most people now and is such common knowledge that even the mainstream media feels comfortable discussing it... matter-of-factly.
1492 -- The Great Mystery met the Great Lie. We were not lost and we did not need any book.
Guantanamo Bay detention center remains open at the behest of the U.S. Senate despite public disapproval and the half-hearted support for closure by President Barack Obama.
Lenin called parliament, in our case the House and Senate, a talking shop given to distract us from the real process of government that goes on behind closed doors. His timely words should be remembered now in the United States' continual War on Terrorism. The Senate is like a shock absorber that effectively neutralizes any grievances from the broad mass of the people that happen to make it through absorber number one, the House of Representatives. Recently the Senate voted 90-6 in favor of denying President Barack Obama the funds need to close the odious Guantanamo Bay prison in Cuba.
The USS Shoup (DDG 86) is in town for fleet week, better known as "When the sailors come up river to spawn". Is was named after General David M. Shoup USMC, Vietnam War critic.

Congress is set to give the FDA power to enact Reefer Madness II, a step to another Prohibition of yet another smokable natural plant that happens to be inconvenient to certain industries...in this case, the same ones who pushed through the first Reefer Madness...namely, pesticides, chlorine, big oil, pharms, and the rest. This isn't to say that cannabis or tobacco smoke don't emit particulate matter that may irritate some people...but this is abut Industrial Toxins and Carcinogens, quite another thing.
Plans to expand Interstate 70 through Denver and Colorado are merely symptomatic of a larger system.
June 03, 2009 "Information Clearing House" -- MIAMI--We expected broken promises. But the gap between the soaring expectations that accompanied Barack Obama's inauguration and his wretched performance is the broadest such chasm in recent historical memory. This guy makes Bill Clinton look like a paragon of integrity and follow-through.
Op-ed piece about the state of Queer liberation at the 40th anniversay of stonewall, and a call for the reradicalization of the queer politic
Now that the United States owns General Motors, many are asking, "What's in it for taxpayers?" This is an extremely good question, considering that taxpayers may spend up to $100 billion [!] towards a company that's currently worth around $450 million. (Wall Street Journal, 6/02/09)
This large discrepancy in numbers means, obviously, that taxpayers could lose tremendous amounts of "investment" money if Obama's "profit first" plan is put into effect. What is this plan? Strip the company to a fraction of its former self, using far fewer workers and making far less money in the hopes that GM will then out-compete the foreign competition on the world market.
America has lost her soul, and so has her president.
A despairing country elected a president who promised change. Americans arrived from every state to witness in bitter cold Obama's swearing in ceremony. The mall was packed in a way that it has never been for any other president.
The people's good will toward Obama and the expectations they had for him were sufficient for Obama to end the gratuitous wars and enact major reforms. But Obama has deserted the people for the interests. He is relying on his non-threatening demeanor and rhetoric to convince the people that change is underway.
The coal industry made Barack Obama the star of its $20 million advertising campaign as the American Clean Energy Policy Act of 2009 was being drafted, and RFK, Jr., called Obama an "indentured servant to the coal industry." African American activist Jeremiah A. Lowery objected to both Obama's pro-coal policies and to R.F.K., Jr.'s choice of words.
With time quickly approaching for the 2010 California Election, it would be too costly for California voters to recall Governor Schwarzenegger; however, before the state becomes bankrupt and Californians suffer greater losses, Governor Schwarzenegger should resign immediately.
Celebrating Dr. George Tiller, Presente!
If passed, this cut will result in the loss of 943 jobs, and severe reduction of library hours. Brooklyn Public Library hours are proposed to be cut to 25 hours a week to a Monday - Friday 1pm-6pm schedule - eliminating Saturday service. These reductions would bring library operating hours to the lowest since the 1970's.

Obama Adopts Bush-Lite Policies on Guantanamo Detainees
Interview with Elizabeth Goitein, director of the Liberty and National Security Program, at the Brennan Center for Justice, conducted by Scott Harris
these two high profile legal cases in georgia and pennsylvania should enlighten us all to the difficulties our current u.s judicial system has in knowing beyond a shadow of a doubt that they have the real criminal waiting on death row to be executed!
After 8 years of the Bush-Cheney nightmare during which we saw the wanton destruction of Afghanistan and Iraq, the cynical negation of centuries of Law designed to protect the most basic human rights and a foreign policy worthy of Genghis Khan, there came along the "Great Black Hope" in the persona of Barack Obama. The collective world consciousness turned uncritically to what was presented as a new era for peace, change and trust in Government.
Never before had one witnessed such an accomplished use of manipulation, propaganda, imagery and public relations wizardry to sell the public a man who was to take the baton from Bush and run with it in the race to destroy the economy, the rights of the people and help birth a nation totally controlled by those who have always lurked in the shadows of power.
Starting from a point of a desire for a new world, we must look at the social forces capable of making it happen and how.
For all the horror the global economic crisis has caused for so many people, one progressive consequence has emerged: many of these people are becoming politically conscious — searching for information to better understand their political and economic system. They want to know how things got the way they did and what can be done about it. Unfortunately, much of the resulting analysis has focused too little on actual causes, and too much on abstract financial details and other consequences of deeper economic problems.
Therefore, the typical explanation of the economic crisis goes as follows: depression-era financial regulations were tossed aside, and banks were allowed to merge into new institutions that then invented ways to transform debts into assets, which were gambled away on the stock exchange to the tunes of trillions of dollars.
All of which is true.
What's missing, however, is why.
The National Animal Identification System (NAIS) does nothing to improve food safety for consumers or prevent animal diseases. If it were to be fully implemented and become mandatory, it would threaten the livelihoods of many small farmers and ranchers. It is costly, intrusive and would further globalize our food system. It is yet another way to squeeze out small family farmers and further monopolize America's food production.
Having just found out I was barely considered for a job I applied for at a "progressive" organization, I'm asking myself a few questions. I don't intend these to be passive aggressive statements, but real questions for discussion.
How Will California/America Recover Economically If Gasoline Hits Four to Five Dollars A Gallon, As Predicted Yesterday By Major News?
Yes, we already know this but this is from Sibel Edmonds Blog-- The most well known and respected 9/11 whistleblower who was a translator for the CIA.
It seems many have recently come to the understanding that Politicians no matter how charismatic or charming do not set the agenda, nor do they decide military matters, health care issues, education or countless other things voters routinely get fooled on. I can feel a shift where people recognize that even if Obama truly does want to release photos or offer single payer health care he can't. Power is an interesting thing in America and depends mainly upon money. Corporations have power, lobby groups able to bank roll campaigns have power and wealthy individuals have power.
Anyone who might be persuaded by the argument that nuclear power is a clean, green "solution" to global warming , including California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, and San Francisco Mayor and gubernatorial candidate Gavin Newsom, should consider the devastating impact of uranium mining, the first step in the nuclear process, on indigenous peoples and environments all over the world.

A race car sponsored by the Indiana National Guard was the first to crash today, 05/23/2009, in the Indianapolis 500, not long after the opening ceremony to honor America's veterans, including a speech by General Craig McKinley, a three-volley salute, and the national anthem sung by a member of Indiana's Guard. The Indiana Guard sponsored two Indy500 race cars, to promote itself, and encourage recruitment, this year.
