John Waters Pays Homage to his Role Models (Book Review)
Cover of Role Models John Waters is a Baltimore Icon! He's a film director, producer, author and a recovering Catholic. The then-Maryland Censor Board panned many of his early flicks, "as pure garbage." Waters is openly gay. His latest book is "Role Models." In it, Waters reveals the people who have influenced and have helped to shape his own complex persona. Waters confesses in his tome that he voted for Barack Obama because "he 'was' a friend of Bill Ayers!"

New Seasons owner is a factory farmer. So much for "local" "organic" labels.
On every commercial dairy farm, calves are forcefully removed from their mothers on the day of birth, at great pain to both. Males become veal, are auctioned off, or shot. Females replace their mothers in a cycle of yearly forced impregnation until they're "spent" and turned into hamburger. If you think that local and organic mean anything different, that's incorrect. Here's an expose of a local, organic farms owned by the New Season founder.

Global Oiling - Phase III. Okay Kids - This Is For Real. Start Fixing The Oil Volcano NOW!
First off: The "diamond saw" thing was scientifically absurd. The pipe is very obviously made of some iron alloy, similar to stainless steel. If you ask any hardware store manager, you will know you simply cannot cut steel or any iron alloy with diamond. Diamond crystals are pure carbon, which has an amazingly strong chemical affinity to iron. So you would need to use corundum or something like that. One more big piece of bullshit!

There is really only one way to stop the oil volcano: a nuclear blast. A conventional explosive will just not suffice.

The Rift between Teachers and Democrats Widens
The corporate media is brutally honest on rare occasions. Take for example a recent article in The New York Times Magazine, titled The Teachers' Union's Last Stand (05-23-10).

The title itself is surprisingly sincere, since it admits that the nation's teachers are being targeted for attack by the Obama Administration, through his "Race to the Top" education reform. And although the article has an inherently corporate bias, it contains many revelations that have been otherwise ignored in the mainstream media.

Red and Black Cafe asks cop to leave, mainstream media and boot-lickers throw a fit
Red and Black Worker-Owned Cafe For reasons unknown, former marine, Iraq-war veteran, current police officer, James Crooker went to the Red and Black worker-owned cafe in south east Portland and ordered coffee. He was given his coffee in a to-go cup and asked to leave due to the fact that cops make many people uncomfortable. This entirely reasonable act done out of concern for the well-being of other patrons has wrinkled the noses of Portland's cop-supporter community. The corporate media has jumped all over this not-very-exciting incident and loonies have been making anonymous threatening comments on blogs and what-not. Now is the time for all of us who have been supported by the Red and Black to show our support and solidarity as our friends and comrades come under attack.

The European and U.S. Economies: Falling Dominoes
Attempting to fix an unfixable problem can create new problems. Why is the global economy unfixable in the current context? For one, the cause of the depression is never mentioned in the mainstream media or politicians. And when a disease is misdiagnosed, a prescribed medication creates new afflictions.

Massive, bad debt is often cited as the cause of the global depression, but why this debt existed in the first place is never discussed. Quite simply, the debt was needed to buy the products of corporations that wages once consumed. Over time, corporations drove down wages to out-compete each other while driving up profits, creating the global "demand" for credit, which the banks are now demanding be paid back.

Economy, what economy?
An economy is traditionally created when people trade goods and services with one another. In this country, that process is usually formalized in jobs, in boss employee relations. In this country there is great effort by the IRS to include even casual exchanges among private persons. That is to say the govt wants it all to be taxable just like jobs and the employmwent system is set up with deducted cut for the regime and all its many henchmen, and of course the few, the deluded, the ones who think government service is for the people.....What happens when the economy is not based upon taxable jobs nor private exchange, but upon government distributions???????????????

Rudacille’s Tome: A Must-Read for Labor Buffs (Review)
Roots of Steel, Book Cover In 1959, Bethlehem' Sparrows Point plant, outside Baltimore, was "the largest steelworks in the world." In its heyday, it employed 36,000 workers. Bethlehem went into bankruptcy in 2001, and many of its retirees at the "Point" got screwed out of their benefits. Deborah Rudacille's book, "Roots of Steel," recreates, via compelling "oral histories," the history of the Point; the collapse of Bethlehem, an industrial titan; and the baleful impact that it had on the lives of its union workers and communities that they lived in.
