Just as labor solidarity played a critical role in toppling South African apartheid, it now has the potential to cripple Israeli apartheid.
John Waters is a Baltimore Icon! He's a film director, producer, author and a recovering Catholic. The then-Maryland Censor Board panned many of his early flicks, "as pure garbage." Waters is openly gay. His latest book is "Role Models." In it, Waters reveals the people who have influenced and have helped to shape his own complex persona. Waters confesses in his tome that he voted for Barack Obama because "he 'was' a friend of Bill Ayers!"
why would any country as wealthy as ours even want 2 mis~treat our poorer americans as badly as we do ???
The congress and the courts of the United States allow the fbi/cia assassins to run murderously wild around the world; such abomination from the most powerful group of thugs ever to be in power in this country demands attention.
The Red and Black Cafe has been recieving alot of criticism for one of its co owners feeling unsafe around a police officer.
Lets do a little thought expiriment. The following takes place in a Portland in an alternate dimension. You are Terry Lynne of the Oregonian and author of the original article criticising the Red and Black Cafe. You live in a world free of discrimination against the Portland Police because they dont exist. You live in a lawless terrifying land, where only the "Organization" has the final say.
for several years now, I've lived in portland - coming here from a decade of activism all over the world and in lots of cities in the US. in my time in portland, friends who moved here from other places, who are people of color, have all had these long, tortured talks with me in which they expressed their dismay at the insidious racism in this city.
What happened to our Republic?
Free flowing discussions, debates and plans for action in the IMC forum sometimes get diverted if not overtaken by "speciesism" concerns. Using alternative spelling is offered as a possibility for reducing the injection of "speciesism" as a concern into non-"speciesism" reports and discussions.
On every commercial dairy farm, calves are forcefully removed from their mothers on the day of birth, at great pain to both. Males become veal, are auctioned off, or shot. Females replace their mothers in a cycle of yearly forced impregnation until they're "spent" and turned into hamburger. If you think that local and organic mean anything different, that's incorrect. Here's an expose of a local, organic farms owned by the New Season founder.
A rant of frustration -- can anyone relate?
Oops, but we were trying to make a profit, now clean up the mess.

Indy Media Artilce Divides & Conquers Community - Anarchist Community Now An Open Target
First off: The "diamond saw" thing was scientifically absurd. The pipe is very obviously made of some iron alloy, similar to stainless steel. If you ask any hardware store manager, you will know you simply cannot cut steel or any iron alloy with diamond. Diamond crystals are pure carbon, which has an amazingly strong chemical affinity to iron. So you would need to use corundum or something like that. One more big piece of bullshit!
There is really only one way to stop the oil volcano: a nuclear blast. A conventional explosive will just not suffice.
The corporate media is brutally honest on rare occasions. Take for example a recent article in The New York Times Magazine, titled The Teachers' Union's Last Stand (05-23-10).
The title itself is surprisingly sincere, since it admits that the nation's teachers are being targeted for attack by the Obama Administration, through his "Race to the Top" education reform. And although the article has an inherently corporate bias, it contains many revelations that have been otherwise ignored in the mainstream media.
For reasons unknown, former marine, Iraq-war veteran, current police officer, James Crooker went to the Red and Black worker-owned cafe in south east Portland and ordered coffee. He was given his coffee in a to-go cup and asked to leave due to the fact that cops make many people uncomfortable. This entirely reasonable act done out of concern for the well-being of other patrons has wrinkled the noses of Portland's cop-supporter community. The corporate media has jumped all over this not-very-exciting incident and loonies have been making anonymous threatening comments on blogs and what-not. Now is the time for all of us who have been supported by the Red and Black to show our support and solidarity as our friends and comrades come under attack.
Rafael Alvarez' "Storyteller" is a delight to read. It's mostly about larger than life characters from Baltimore, MD. But, that doesn't mean you have to be from there to enjoy it as much as I did. Alvarez was a reporter for the Baltimore Sun for 23 years (1978-2001). He literally covered the waterfront, and if necessary, he did the obits. "Storyteller" is made up of 67 newspaper articles, two essays and three well-honed short stories.

Sexuality and eroticism has always been "offensive" to somebody. Especially is this so in this land of the blue-nose, which descended here from a long Christian paranoia of anything erotic and unclean. But where is this psychology of "erotophobia" mentioned in California's latest crusade against anything that falls under the rubric of "sexual offender?"

Obama Wants The Power To Drag U.S. Citizens Off The Street, To Indefinitely Imprison Citizens With No Evidence Of Wrongdoing, Based Only On Government's Claim A Person Is A "Combatant" Or Likely To Engage In A Violent Act In The Future.

Comrade Mao-Zedong had been so clear in his teachings. Practice is primary over theory. He rhetorically asked in his philosophical writings, "Where do correct ideas come from? Do they fall from the sky? Are they innate in the mind? No, they come from social practice and social practice alone."
"... Many, many people are pitching in" to rebuild Haiti
HR 875 is a potential threat to our food supply and our freedom to purchase the food we want.
I will always question all "so-called authority" because I believe it is a healthy and *natural* thing to do. As a species looking to evolve and make progress I believe it is necessary to do so and is crucial for our own survival. Asking questions is fundamental and vital if we are to be able to help in 'healing the planet' with all that Mother Earth is being subjected to by humankind.
The Obama administration's behavior toward Iran is eerily reminiscent of George Bush's mobilization for war against Iraq in the half-year before the actual invasion. A recently leaked Pentagon directive and a host of other factors are "consistent with preparations for a general mobilization, as begun against Iraq by the Bush regime in the summer of 2002."
Article from Washington Post immediately sets the tone by referring to the disaster surrounding the destruction of the oil drilling rig "Deep Horizon" and subsequent catastrophic oil spill a "natural calamity", as if an act of God.
Black Box for Adderall due to the drug's serious, or even life-threatening, adverse effects.
THE MAY 10, 2010 ELECTION has been bandied about as the cleanest and the most peaceful election since the restoration of this exercise after the fall of the Marcos dictatorship in 1986. This is attributed to the computerized election which ensured the quick counting of votes so that there would be no sufficient time for any of the trapo (traditional politician) to cheat the votes.
Attempting to fix an unfixable problem can create new problems. Why is the global economy unfixable in the current context? For one, the cause of the depression is never mentioned in the mainstream media or politicians. And when a disease is misdiagnosed, a prescribed medication creates new afflictions.
Massive, bad debt is often cited as the cause of the global depression, but why this debt existed in the first place is never discussed. Quite simply, the debt was needed to buy the products of corporations that wages once consumed. Over time, corporations drove down wages to out-compete each other while driving up profits, creating the global "demand" for credit, which the banks are now demanding be paid back.

"The Office of Technology Assessment (OTA) was an office of the United States Congress from 1972 to 1995. OTA's purpose was to provide Congressional members and committees with objective and authoritative analysis of the complex scientific and technical issues of the late 20th century." Obviously public scientific truth is the last thing the owners of US government wanted.

More revelations of israel's true nature:
An economy is traditionally created when people trade goods and services with one another. In this country, that process is usually formalized in jobs, in boss employee relations. In this country there is great effort by the IRS to include even casual exchanges among private persons. That is to say the govt wants it all to be taxable just like jobs and the employmwent system is set up with deducted cut for the regime and all its many henchmen, and of course the few, the deluded, the ones who think government service is for the people.....What happens when the economy is not based upon taxable jobs nor private exchange, but upon government distributions???????????????
A commentary on the BP oil disaster...
When people in general think of anarchists, what I'm sure comes to mind is this flippant, characterized image of black-clad young mal-contents with their faces covered, throwing reactionary protests & smashing a couple of windows along the way. Anyone who gets most their info. from corporate, mainstream outlets surely believes this.
In 1959, Bethlehem' Sparrows Point plant, outside Baltimore, was "the largest steelworks in the world." In its heyday, it employed 36,000 workers. Bethlehem went into bankruptcy in 2001, and many of its retirees at the "Point" got screwed out of their benefits. Deborah Rudacille's book, "Roots of Steel," recreates, via compelling "oral histories," the history of the Point; the collapse of Bethlehem, an industrial titan; and the baleful impact that it had on the lives of its union workers and communities that they lived in.
Below is summary text from the US Dept of Energy, Energy Information Administration 2008 Report. Let it leave no room for doubt of the relationship between supply and demand: between the UNCONSCIONABLE BP DEEPWATER HORIZON supply side and the Transportation demand side of the Oil Economy.

In many ways, the whole security operations for the G8/G20 summits are a sideshow designed to serve as a distraction. Any violence and mayhem before or during the meetings plays right into the globalists hands and will be used to justify a police state crackdown.

Where are they-hanging out with Waldo? Where's Greenpeace-why aren't there protests in the streets against British Petroleum? Why isn't Barack Obama being burned in effigy for being such a step n' fechit for the oil companies-and Goldman Sachs whose working every angle in the financial sector to rob your money and your homes(another discussion yes, but... ).
If the Gulf Oil Spill had happened in G-Dubya Bush's time Greenpeace and the other environmentalist groups would be going nonstop 24/7, impeachment hearings would be televised live for months-under Obama there's nothing of the sort?
Time for action.

Textbooks can be dangerous.
While many radical activists applaud both the firing of Police Chief Sizer and removing the Police Bureau from (the unfortunately reelected) Dan Saltzman, the Portland Business Alliance continues to have the 'reach' into the power centers of the city, ie, the new police chief's band features the VP of PBA.
Picture a hungry mob of poor people. Then picture someone in the middle of that mob with a huge platter of food for just them. That is the beginning scenario that mocks current U.S. society. I understand the middle class are playing victim routinely nowadays, whining about things like foreclosures on their homes, but in all honesty, the poor don't even have houses to foreclose on (no, we pay endless exorbitant rent in excess of mortgages, so middle class people inherit)...
With just over five months to go, this year's national elections are already throwing the twists, experts, pundits, and pollsters predicted were going to happen, some added twists. The long overdue anti-government mood is yielding fruits for those tapping into it. The benefits are going to Republicans in places, like Hawaii's special election between the two Democrats and the one Republican and the election of Scott Brown in Massachusetts. Of course, in the former, even in a bad year for Republicans the Republicans should have the edge, and they are expected to.
