Having listened to Mumia Abu Jamals' commentary the other day regarding the Oscar Juliuss Grant III verdict & why people were still outraged, i wanted to repeat Mumia's observance here, with my own observations.
Even from a ruthlessly economic standpoint, it makes sense for mass transit to be publicly subsidized; here's why.
"See, rather than tell the truth about what's happening in the Gulf, BP has resorted to police state tactics to threaten the media and intimidate journalists, threatening them with arrest, detainment and felony crimes if they get close enough to snap photos of what's really going on in the Gulf Coast."
Lately the DOW is up. Often its a indicator of market improvement of profit.
So how do you think there making money?
If one accepts, as I do, that prisons in the US are a contemporary extension of chattel slavery, that prisons are irredeemably rooted in racism and classism that prisons serve no purpose save corporate profit and raw retribution, then one must call for their abolition. Prison "reform" is insufficient if the very notion and reality of prison itself is grounded in inequality, injustice and destruction.
I'm sorry if the title of this post is confusing, there isn't an actual existing conflict between anarchists and the Barefoot Bandit (aka Colton Harris-Moore) that I know of anyway. What I'm talking about is drastically different public perceptions of the two parties in question, and why they exist.
According to several left-leaning critics of the 9/11 Truth Movement, some of its central claims, especially about the destruction of the World Trade Center, show its members to be scientifically challenged. In the opinion of some of these critics, moreover, claims made by members of this movement are sometimes unscientific in the strongest possible sense, implying an acceptance of magic and miracles.

"The truth about 9/11 is so explosive that if fully admitted, any lingering public support for America's wars in the Middle East would totally collapse ..."
The NSA has now inserted the probes necessary to bring down indymedia and any other subversive activity on the net. All this wrapped up and billed as "change" brought to you by Obama.
The Revolution can't be far off...
This week, my mind is with the sixteen Canadians who will be transported between their maximum security jail cells and the court to determine whether they will be held in prison until trial or released on extremely restrictive bail conditions. They are accused of organizing the protests against the elite G20 summit of world leaders that took place in Toronto at the end of June. At these protests, thousands of people took to the streets in opposition to specific policies of these twenty leading world governments or in negation of the global political and economic system in its entirety.
- the 4th of july has become a disgusting display of amuricun arrogance and glottony -
With the recent wave of strikes in China, the question of the class nature of China's state takes on an even more tangible importance. Today China's workers are struggling for better pay, better conditions, and independent unions. Tomorrow they may face the task of taking power and will, therefore, need to know what kind of state they are up against.
Today in the United States, under the Democratic administration of Barack Obama, xenophobic and racist violence is escalating. The criminal agents of the Border Patrol have reached the point of killing in cold blood, before the eyes of hundreds of witnesses. On May 28, construction worker Anastasio Hern?ndez Rojas was beaten to death by some 20 agents of the U.S. Border Patrol. Then on June 7 in Ciudad Ju?rez, across the river from El Paso, Border Patrol agents fired into a group of youths on the Mexican side of of the border, murdering 14-year-old Adri?n Hern?ndez with a shot to the head. These crimes are part of a policy of racist repression looking for scapegoats, typified by the legalization of xeonophobia and police use of racial profiling in Arizona's SB 1070 law. But while Obama criticize the law, "Obama, listen, we are in the struggle," his thugs are killing on the border. It is an illusion to think that the commander in chief of U.S. imperialism, or his counterpart and semi-colonial underling, Mexican president Felipe Calder?n, will defend the workers. It is necessary to mobilize the power of the working class to defend immigrants.

When the UN refused to agree to the severe sanctions that the U.S. wanted, Obama responded with typical Bush flair and went solo. The new U.S. sanctions against Iran — signed into law by Obama on July 1st — are an unmistakable act of war.
If fully enforced, Iran's economy will be potentially destroyed. The New York Times outlines the central parts of the sanctions:
For the first time since the 1960s, the liberation movement of black people in the U.S. is winning public recognition from international leaders. Representatives of the governments of Venezuela and Nicaragua, a leader of the Mexican/Indigenous rights movement, and African leaders from Colombia, the Caribbean, Congo and West Africa will come together at the 5th Congress of the African People's Socialist Party - USA (APSP-USA), July 10-14 in Washington, D.C.
As the United States government broadens its military presence in Haiti and foreign non-governmental organizations increase their control over government and social service operations on the island, concerned African people are convening in Washington D.C. to organize a coordinated African response to this and other crises faced by Africans in Haiti and around the world.
He voted for war funding by voting for the rule!
The Arctic has been the subject of dispute. Increasing diplomatic efforts is the key to building the foundation for more multilateral cooperation in the area. It's vast untapped oil, natural gas and mineral resources represent a tremendous economic potential, but control of the region is also important from a strategic standpoint. The scramble for resources and the further militarization of the Arctic make it a potential flashpoint for conflict.
iCNN -- Facebook Deleted Boycott BP
The question is: Why did Facebook suddenly take down the site? Some will call it a media black out of what is really happening down here in the Gulf. Some might say he was doing more harm than good given the fact that the Boycotting of BP was actually beginning to take hold if you judge by some of the photos and videos being posted of station owners either changing to a new brand, or closing altogether.
The most powerful nations in the world met recently at the G-20 in Toronto and managed to agree on only one thing of significance: the need to reduce deficits, "half by 2013." Implied by the statement is the need to lower deficits via "austerity," meaning eliminating or reducing social programs.
Why does every mainstream political pundit or corporate CEO fanatically agree that reducing deficits is the most important thing to do now? Let Obama explain:
Below is the final draft of the Constitution of The African People's Socialist Party (APSP), to be adopted at our 5th Congress, scheduled from July 10 thru 14 this year. This is the document, through many months of grueling work, that is being put forth by the duly appointed Constitutional Commission of the APSP-USA. It has been again revised since our worldwide online study held June 27 on UhuruNews.com to reflect input and discussion from that study.
As criticisms of President Obama's war and economic policies mount, the group that first questioned his intentions regarding the concerns of the black community is holding a national Congress to define a black agenda to serve the interests of black people.
You've seen the posts. Usually they're comments after a demo, or in response to report-backs from some killer action or other. They go like this: "You shouldn't be doing x, you should be doing y instead." As in, "How dare you work to help animals when so many babies are dying," and "how come you're fighting police brutality when there is a war going on" and "why would you talk about going vegan when there are so many more important things" and etc. Not coincidentally, a disproportionate number of these vapid criticisms have to do with animal rights. And, also not coincidentally, they are ALWAYS posted by people who turn out to have never lifted a single finger, either for the cause they are disparaging, or for the cause they claim that others "should be" paying attention to instead.
Has anyone stopped driving because of what's happening to the Gulf of Mexico? How many are free to choose, even if they would?
The U.S.A.'s stupid stimulus funds went to build freeways while mass transit was cut back and fares were raised all over the country.
Every federal legislator behind the stimulus freeway building spree should be held responsible for the death of the Gulf Coast, as much or more than British Petroleum. Even now, the cuts to mass transit continue, as the oil volcano erupts with no end in sight.

Worldwide, from Israel to Iran and throughout both U.S. mainstream and alternative media, articles are making an alarming argument of a U.S. false flag attack as the beginning of a world war. We may be about to discover the true meaning of the "Global War on Terror."
An essay about the Intellectual Environment I am living in, and a list of logical fallacies in the Thai Monarchist/Militarist/Yellow Shirt Propaganda
At a free box I picked up a book that is very important to understand where civilization is going and what we might do for ourselves to continue beyond the collapse of The Final Empire. It's a two part book with The Collapse of Civilization coming first and The Seed of the Future finishing. From 1993, it's out of date, yet nonetheless relevant to the present eco-crisis.
William H. Kotke resides in Glendale, OR and has also written a follow-up book called Garden Planet in 2005. I don't have it, and want to borrow or buy it when I get through The Final Empire. His research and referencing satisfies the intellect plus he keeps it real by calling modern civilization akin to an alcoholic suffering delirium tremens!
A corporate backed group called "America Speaks" is hosting a "Town Hall" in PDX as part of a well funded national campaign to discuss fixing the federal deficits. Such events have been used to propose cutting Social Security and Medicare. The purpose of the picket before the Town Hall is to make sure other voices are heard. Don't cut Main Streets modest programs. Make Wall Street pay!
As is typical with U.S. politicians and media, an extremely serious topic has nearly been reduced to absurdity. Once the urgency of the Gulf oil eruption has been fully sterilized, the stage will be set for business as usual politics — with the corporations comfortably in the driver seat.
But the corporate establishment cannot act too quickly in its fervor to drop the topic.
The environmental destruction brought on by corporate greed has opened the eyes of millions in the U.S. — eyes that are struggling to stay open as they now face the enormous sleep-producing machine of the mainstream media.
The JwJ Economic Crisis committee believes that people going to the Town Hall should go with eyes open. But even more, we are concerned that the Town Hall is one tactic in creating a new narrative that the corporate and governmental elites are writing in this time of economic crisis. This offensive creates the fear of soaring future debt and sets the overwhelming economic priority of balancing the budget.

In a preview of the profits to come, Wall Street investment firms Goldman Sachs and others sold more than $300 million in BP stock by the end of the first quarter, just weeks before the explosion that eventually sank the Deepwater Horizon and caused the ongoing worst ecological crisis in American history.
A reminder of the importance of solidarity and the construction of a general culture of resistance
We must remove BP from the crime scene and let an international team of experts fix this on BP's dime.

20 years from now, there will be so many muslims in the usa that they can elect whomever they wish in any office in the land- including president.
Even before that, we can start feeling the horrific effects of SHARIA LAW - being pushed and practiced now, by Muslims who have come to the USA, in private at home.
Muslims have a world domination goal, please read the article below, written by an Egypt-born formerly muslim woman.

The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) says that all comrades are equal, and cadres fulfill division of tasks within the organization. The global war machine burns more petroleum than all other users.
A vast ecosystem is dying before us. The Gulf of Mexico is soaked in oil. Millions upon millions of creatures -land, sea and sky are dead or dying. The gulf waters are dead to oil and greed. What have we done to stop this from happening? What have the generations of people living on the Earth done to leave a liveable planet behind after they die? Why are we not standing up?
Who does hillary think she is talking to! Why does she not say the same things to u.s. congress! We just read that a dead texan left $9,000,000,000 to his heirs with not one penny to be paid in tax!
"It Is Time."
After BP successfully placed a cap to divert some of the spewing oil into tankers, thousands of gallons continue to flow daily into the gulf. August is slated as the earliest date that any permanent solution may emerge. BP remains totally in charge of potentially the largest environmental disaster in the earth's recorded history, a fact that proves — in "check mate" fashion — that corporations dominate the inner workings of the U.S. government, a truth previously revealed by the bank bailouts.
More than one gigantic eco-system may be destroyed by BP, and the President of the U.S. is sadly reduced to lecturing in "serious tones," with daily adjustments of tone based on the results of polling agencies.
Peacefull protest planned for this Sunday 6-13-10, at 10 am! anyone want to join me??!!! please do.... thinking about a BBQ, giving out free burgers!
BP will years from now pay pennies on dollar for damages -- after "non-economic" extinctions of some species.

Increasingly, Mexico's drug war is being seen as a continental problem that requires continental solutions which is further pushing the NAFTA partnership into a common security front. This is escalating the militarization of the borders, integration in areas of law enforcement and the military, as well as advancing the development of a North American security perimeter.
In the old days the U.S. government used different tactics to trick the population into accepting policies that only the elite wanted. For example, it took legions of hired speakers (propagandists) to travel the country and to explain to people the "necessity" of fighting WWI and WWII. Movie stars were put on the government payroll, too, dazzling and awe-striking working people into buying war bonds and constantly cheerleading the war effort.
Not much has changed. Although the corporate-controlled media is a highly effective tool to influence the public to accept wars-for-profit (Iraq and Afghanistan), some policies are so unpopular they require the old tactics be revived.
With several hundred cell/ wireless towers in Portland (or any city) and the (PGE or other electric co.) smart meters in every home, plus cell phone usage, and other sources, how much radiation are we really being exposed to on a daily basis?
The problems of Palestine are religious in nature. The religions have become conflated, of course, with 'race' and ethnicity. But religions have always been nothing more than aspects of mass media. Before television, organized religions ~were~ the mass media, since people would assemble every Saturday or Sunday to hear the propaganda of the ruling classes who financed the temples.
In the wake of the Flotilla massacre it seems that more people think that Jews should leave Palestine to Palestinians.
