London's Mayor Ken Livingstone recently showed the world that he had the courage to stand up for truth and morality. Portland - who do we have among us that will work for the people and the hell with the government and corporate monsters? We have time and motive to do for Portland what we would hope to do for the whole country. Who has the brains, guts, and charisma to be electable and do right by the people? If big old stogy London can do it, so can we!
It is hypocrisy for the US to talk about weapons of
mass destruction as they are the biggest producers and exporters of
weapons of mass destruction.
Level3.net, the backbone of our internet service is a open door for those who want to disrupt internet service to anyone seeking truthful information about current breaking news from around the World or locally.
We already have one republican senator, and that is one too many. Wyden has rolled over to the right(cash) side of the aisle one time too many.
Today, if Rich Lowry stood in Coalition-devastated Iraq, at the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, he would be at a source that once "watered Sumeria and Akkad, and nourished the Hanging Gardens of Babylon" (Will Durant's "Story of Civilization"). The peoples of this ancient land, once known as Mesopotamia, (part of which is holy also to Christianity), prepared the first codes of law, under the magnificent Hammurabi.
"Growth, prosperity, free trade, liberal world economy and international division of labor are all ideologically charged terms. They reflect veiled interests more than a search for truth. The starting-point for an alternative concept of economics and development is a fundamental ideology-critical position." translated from the German

"For the love of money, there is no rest, not a second of rest either day or night.
With the love of money, everything becomes empty...
Money sucks you dry, makes you empty and ruins you: a field of dead bones.."

It really seems as though those who wish can sneak on the internet from none network IP addresses such as "10.32.32.30 or 10.32.323.40" and attempting to gain access to anyone's computer. Well, guess what folks, I caught two trying to do just that from a none internet network.
On Pro-Iraq Solidarity
Doctors fear that we may be on the verge of witnessing a global pandemic of obsequious pro-American fawning and toadying. Governments have been advised to put up posters bearing the image of the carrier of the disease at their local airports
Like many activists, i've been accused of being "too into" politics. i'd like to set the record straight on this, and i hope i can speak for other activists, too: i hate politics. What is the politics i hate? It is a method, a way of interacting, a thought construct, that exists in opposition to honesty. Politics is the careful manipulation of words and ideas based on how you speculate they might be received. Politics is when you want one thing, but express a desire for another. Politics is what happens when you "package" your ideas for the corporate media, censor yourself for the mainstream, or soften your language for some particular imagined audience.
Politics is all about control. Politics is backroom deals, bcc'd emails, and asking other people to speak for you because you're afraid they won't listen when you open your mouth yourself. Politics is careful word choices rather than your true beliefs.
Political speech is when you don't say what you mean so you can get what you want. Politics is about ego, not co-operation. Political speech is lying, with a fake smile and a handshake. Politics sickens me.
They cooked the books!!!
I believe just about everything about 11/22/63 has been said. Just one comment:
An organic reconsideration of US history and major "conspiracy theories" of the past 40 years, including those pertaining to the 9-11 attack, and how they shed light on America's present drift into fascism.
Don't let those anti-Bush folks tell you those quaint English villages and villagers weren't ABSOLUTELY AUTHENTIC. Here's the proof!
They carried P-38 can openers and heat tabs, watches and dog tags, insect repellent, gum, cigarettes, Zippo lighters, salt tablets, compress bandages, ponchos, Kool-Aid, two or three canteens of water, iodine tablets, sterno, LRRP- rations, and C-rations stuffed in socks. They carried standard fatigues, jungle boots, bush hats, flak jackets and steel pots.
Least we loose sight of the most obvious fact.
The recent decision by the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court is not just a gay rights issue. The issue affects all non-white and female citizens in the United States as well. The language that is being chosen by people who oppose gay marriage makes it clear that the oppression they seek to impose goes much deeper, targeting everyone who is not part of the white, male, heterosexual population.
Steve Moore, president of the Club for the Growth, and his group oppose the Medicare bill: "Our members just hate this bill. They really do. . . . We can't in good conscience support the largest entitlement expansion in decades."
As early as Aug. 6, 1999, "NY Times," Abe Rosenthal, an influential voice within the Israel First Brigade, was demanding a U.S.-led attack on Iraq. He also championed the economic sanctions against that beleaguered nation, totally oblivious to the widespread suffering they were causing (Casi.org.uk). He insisted that Saddam Hussein had WMD and that within a year Iraq could become "a nuclear power." Query: Is Rosenthal now putting a contract out on Iran?
Just wondering of there are any bike maintenance classes going on in PDX?
There has been a revival in the whole pros and cons debate of political violence with the announcement of Craig Whatshisface's new book "Some Guy Wrote a Book About Political Violence" (actually, I might be wrong about the name of the author and the book, so please feel free to correct me...). Here are my thoughts.

The FTAA protests in miami are a good example of why ALL Americans (North, Central, & South) should recognize what they are up against - An autocratically imposed mechanism( to accelerate transfer of wealth from many to a few) that has been designed by a few unresponsive, unelected people; a mechanism that will be enforced and protected with violent force by existing quasi-legitamite government entities, while those same government entities will lie about the mechanism as freely as they lie to silence opposition.

There was a time in America when only rich white men were allowed to vote. But as history progressed, so did we. Today, every able adult citizen enjoys this most fundamental democratic right with one notable exception: convicted felons. Were it not for felon disenfranchisement laws, the composition of Congress would tilt dramatically toward the left.
"Who would deny that nature is transparent to a mystery eluding us, that it points beyond itself to something that isn't nature and yet appears in every part of nature?.. If nature is degraded to a mere sphere of objects, its transparency is lost.. Because we are blind for creation's glory and accept the world as a brutum factum, the earth comes to nothing under our functional instrumental reason." translated from German

Only 2 members of the House of Representative rejected legislation that would impose penalties against fund trading abuses. Who were these industry insiders? Reps. Ron Paul (R-TX) and Jeff Flake (R-AZ), key members of the Republican Liberty Caucus.
Can we have an open mind on abortion and possibly change our minds on this issue?
The Uk can get damn near 3,000 people out to protest Bush's arrival, and he's not even their president.
Making a Case for 9/11 Skepticism
Medicare prescription drug bill is bad medicine. Tell your senators to vote no.
Critical initiatives like the recently negotiated Israeli-Palestinian Geneva Accords and what is called the Aylon-Nusseibeh agreement should also be pushed more aggressively, since they build on the pre-Sharon peace efforts and have the ability to refute the myth that "peace is impossible".
The reason that today's Federal Government is viewed with such hatred by the average individual isn't because it constantly violates the Constitution but because it alternately attempts to force the values of the East and West Coast cultures on everyone.

These are the Nuremburg Principles. Read 'em. They were originally designed to deal with the situation when corporate systems take over government and turn it into a fascism. This means that they apply to Multinational Corporations as well as the current situation in the USA.

We are the ancestral trees of this land.

Armed resistance to the US invasion and occupation of Iraq is expanding and entering a higher level of military and political significance.
An Iraqi witness to the most recent attack in which the resistance downed 2 helicopters and caused a large number of deaths to US forces, said to reporters "we will shoot down all their helicopters!!" Who can doubt that this reflects the mood of the people in all of occupied Iraq? In fact, most freedom- loving people all over the globe are speaking about these actions by the resistance in very respectful terms, even if the pacifist stranglehold on the Peace movement (mostly under the domination of the US branch of the movement), makes it embarassing to admit this openly.

When people are engaging in behavior that results in military oppression for the purpose of resource extraction (ex. US occupation of Iraq for oil), we need to educate people, so ignorance cannot be claimed..

Personal comment and more political theory
I commented to someone recently that the United States was "poised on
the edge of something". This person then called me a "dreamer" after I
expressed my belief that "something" might be "completely the opposite"
of the "fascism" he had offered as a possibility. This person may well have been right: later that same day, I bet a three-figure sum that President Bush will be defeated in the 2004 elections. It dawned on me later on that these opinions are in need of some explanation. I see no reason you should take me seriously. Beyond the fact that I've spent some time giving these matters a considerable degree of attention, there remain the question of how useful historically grounded speculation about the future really is, and the probability that I'm just rationalizing my natural optimism. You've been warned.
"In the global age, radical criticism has become an esoteric function.. Individuals have long been degraded into mere market subjects.. Whoever only knows customers and not individuals ignors institutions and collective actors." In this essay translated from the German in "Merkur", the criticisms of George Soros, Joseph Stiglitz and John Gray are explored.
