an incoherent rant.
Here are some details regarding the funding operations of "Occupy Wall Street," and the "General Assembly."
Opinionators decry Susan Sarandons factual identification of thE Pope as a Nazi,
He WAS in the Hitler Youth
They say the claims are false because the pope wasn't personally responsible for "smashing babies against walls"
Movement for a Democratic Society (MDS) reports on the October2011 organizing effort. Calls for dialogue in the face of abuses.
I believe that the 99% protests are great, and can be worthwhile. At the moment, presumably most of the protesters are associated in various degrees with an organization that instantly sprung up, calling itself the "General Assembly." It has dapper "organizers" who go about dispensing money (from where?). It doesn't have to be that way. Other protesters should form their own affinity groups of five to ten individuals and show up. (Large groups get infiltrated fast.) Each group can make its own demands.
The Occupy Movement provides an opportunity to build bridges. Let's use its example to build a better world.
As the Occupy Movement gains strength nationally and internationally, questions of "what next" are popping up. Although there are no easy answers or ready-to-order recipes for moving forward, there are general ideas that can help unite the Occupy Movements with the broader community of the 99% — which is the most urgent need at the moment. Why the urgency? Writer Chris Hedges explains:
"The state and corporate forces are determined to crush this . . . They are terrified this will spread. They have their long phalanxes of police on motorcycles, their rows of white paddy wagons, their foot soldiers hunting for you on the streets with pepper spray and orange plastic nets . . ."
Republicans are winning the semantics war.
Last week, President Obama racked up several more broken campaign promises as he pushed through Congress three new job-killing corporate trade agreements.

Many Yemeni Muslim men with U.S. citizenship travel to Yemen in order to obtain a fast track "triple talaq" divorce according to the Personal Status Law of Yemen. They then return to the United States and seek recognition and enforcement of the Islamic Yemeni divorce in the U.S. But can such an ex parte divorce be recognized and enforced?
Loud music is a weapon of war.
It remains to be seen whether the internal contradictions within the Occupy movement-the limits of the 99% as a framework understanding for race, class, and police in America will be overcome by its significant contributions to the renewal of revolutionary potentials-its defiance of authority, its willingness to operate outside of dead-ended political channels, and its ability to arouse a sense of possiblity in thousands previously hopeless.
...we are fighting a new form of colonialism.... Overcoming the juggernaut of corporate personhood through our highest ideals and desires is by no means a painless and rapid process. ....it would be well for all of us to draw attention to a basic fact, that corporations, as we know them, are by their very definition what Psychologists for Social Responsibility calls "a misleading and highly dangerous fiction" when they pretend to sequester human beings from their "personal responsibility for their own actions."
Walk in and some what shocked by "that much chaos" in the middle of my city. What some people see as beautiful, i see as a glorified homeless/transient/lost soul camp. I know its about numbers, but no one is taking political messages from a zoo. Officers were remarking to one another about how fucking out of control shit was, honestly was more amazed with there self control then anything i saw at camp.
the 99% got some balls. It's just too bad that they had to wait until they were so insulted and it got so bad.
56 properties were attacked and a spy agency is in Clark county Washington.
If one hits the url of a public entity, is that a moment of occupation? An expression of free speech? And is it a right?
I have tears of joy falling as I watch videos from all over the U.S.A. of people standing together. So many people are awakening to the truth about the "civilized" world. The slavery, the war, the corruption at every level. But what now? How do we sustain ourselves and our communities?
By definition, capitalism is: An economic system based on private ownership of the means of production (industry, banks, technology), where through the process of market competition, production occurs for private profit — if something cannot be sold for a profit it is not produced.
In practice, private ownership has evolved into giant corporations, which monopolize production, markets, and government via campaign contributions, corporate lobbying (often legalized bribery) and promising politicians a cozy retirement from politics: "working" for corporations as consultants, lobbyists, etc.
Discussion and thoughts on Occupy Salem at the State Capitol from a Conservative
While in the past Canada has exercised a more independent foreign policy, in many ways, it has now succumbed to the imperialistic aspirations of the U.S. and NATO. The war in Afghanistan and the continued bombing in Libya have demonstrated Canada's willingness to use military force to advance foreign policy.
After what happened to Kevin Hayes in Portland Federal Court on Tuesday. I feel it is time to stand up to the worlds largest corporate tyrant. Portland I feel now is the time for a OCCUPY WALMART movement!
It's easier than you think to boycott the big banks.
At one protest, I took off a large scarf I was wearing & put it in my vest pocket. A cop grabbed me, & said to the other cops, "Let her out, she is pregnant." And I was out of the containment area all of a sudden! So women, roll up a sweater under your coat and feign pregnancy to get out of containment areas. Abbie Hoffman confused guards who tried to keep him out of a high security area by going off loudly about how it must be due to anti-Semitism, and he was let in via that confusion!
Knowledge is power, in street protest, as much as in any other genre. There are certain basics of street protest and tactical physics that can improve protesters' safety, and/or improve effectiveness, considerably. From individual precautions that are simple, such as thinking through possible scenarios and your choices of reaction to them beforehand, to rehearsed group precautions, such as group pointing and having scouts; street protest information is valuable and should best be learned before it's needed.
Money is power. If every occupier with a bank account, in nearly 100 occupied US cities, would pull their money out of the big banks, the power base would switch to We the People.
It's clear to me that the "NYC General Assembly" is a fraudulent government (oligarchist) front operation that is co-opting the Occupy Wall Street protests. They seem to be pretending to be equalitarian ("progressive"), but they are really trained oligarchist operators. Look at their organizational procedures (read them! they sound like Scientologists):
The OCCUPY protesters are expressing an emotional response, an appropriate emotional response. Their detractors who would paint them as bongo playing, naked hippies don't have much political memory.
We clearly need a revolution. I want mine to be non-violent and inclusive.
Here are two letters written to the overall 'Occupy' moevement, pointing out some issues which should be recognized and addressed. Please read, consider, and respond. Or better yet, take your considerations out to the streets and to the next General Assembly.
It's important to remember who the cops are when people say things like "cops are part of the 99%".
The terms "left", "right", "progressive" (toward what?), "liberal," etc., are semantically bleached, and shopworn. New terms:
over 15,000 people marched on wall street yesterday in NYC including student groups and unions. The movement is growing. WE ARE THE 99% but together we take back our lives!
The LA Times carries this headline. Sorry didn't ever read the article because...
At a time when the country is demanding that Wall Street pay up, Democrats and Republicans are insisting that China be punished instead. In a rare case of bi-partisan unity, the Senate voted 79 to 19 in favor of opening discussion on a punitive trade bill that would shut out Chinese products coming into the U.S. Another highly provocative incident showcased U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman, Admiral Mike Mullen, accusing the Pakistan's intelligence service, the ISI, of giving official support to the Haqqni terrorist network. This would make Pakistan an official state sponsor of terrorism, opening it up to a possible military invasion. After reading all the patriotic chest thumping in the mainstream media, it would be possible to forget that there are large anti-Wall Street protests emerging all over the nation. This is precisely the point.

Bank of America debit card fee plan met with resistance and anger
I just noticed the following on the occupyportland.org front page, and am incredibly dismayed! If we aren't allowed to debate certain issues, how are we ever going to have an egalitarian, horizontally organized movement to push for change? Why do occupyportland.org site admins and moderators feel like they should have the power to censor and silence people? Diversity of tactics, diversity of opinions, hello???
View and vote on the list of demands.
"We are all born free and equal" is a human right, but unfortunately, not all people are treated equally in every corner of the globe. In fact, there is some form of discrimination, slavery or injustice no matter where we look. It may be in forms of bullying, human trafficking, hunger or lack of education, but there are human rights violations every day.
Let's not impeach him because he's less evil?
Do you think the Drone killing of Americans should be an impeachable offense?
I have about had it with Obama. Who will be drone killed next? The Wall Street Occupiers?
I hope Nadar, McKinney or someone will challenge Obama in 2012. The Drone Killings
are not what we voted for.
Who is next?
Sometimes it explodes. But social explosions are rare events. Are the Wall Street protests and their nationwide copycats an explosion or just a flare up?
For an explosion to happen there must be not only explosive material, but plenty of oxygen to feed the fire. For social movements this means that enough working people, students, and unemployed find the necessary unity and inspiration to push through obstacles and maintain enthusiasm. The Wall Street protests have ingredients that can create such unity but the threat of extinguishing it is real.
Although many of the Wall Street protesters are following the tactics of the Arab Revolutions, they've begun on a higher plane politically. The Arab dictatorships made for an easy target and helped unify working people against the regimes; the Wall Street protesters, however, have already identified the money interests behind the bad government in the U.S. — a very similar money interest that rules post-Mubarack Egypt that Egyptians are still mobilizing to dethrone.
We are surprised and saddened that portland indymedia restricts access from TOR. Prohibiting TOR only forces people to use ways of connecting to Portland Indymedia that can be monitored by government snoops. Please do explain why this is the case, and if it is accidental, please remedy the situation! That policy helps no one but the PJTTF!
Muslim men from Jordanian background may choose to go to their homeland in order to obtain Islamic divorce decree from the religious courts in that country. Can such a decree be recognized in the United States?
From his first week in office, Obama has been actively using drones to kill people all to protect US oil profits around the world. This time, he assassinated 2 American citizens, Anwar al-Awlaki and Samir Khan, apparently as a favor for the US-backed dictator of Yemen, Ali Abdullah Saleh, who is being opposed by mass protests. Clearly, this phony lawyer does not believe in due process.
Consensus Was Not Really Reached on the Permit at Tonight's Meeting
Freedom or Death.
President Obama may have opened Pandora's box with his latest tax-the-rich rhetoric, but he'll try to keep the lid half-shut.
Truly informing the public about just how rich the rich are — and just how much their taxes have been lowered over the decades — would certainly cause working people to demand much more from the wealthy than Obama is. Equally important to what is being demanded is where the new tax money is to go. Working people would prefer that Obama put the deficit on the back burner and use the new revenue to create jobs and to save Medicare and Medicaid, both of which the President plans to cut substantially. The deficit does not represent a social crisis the way that massive unemployment does; the President is thus proposing to tax the rich at too low a rate and for the wrong reasons.
Yemeni protesters nonviolently and permanently took over a military base and solidiers chose retreat rather than being overrun.
It is not clear from the reporting how 50 people died if the soldiers allegedly did not use firearms to prevent the overrunning.
The Bolivrian revolution
America's Problem is Us
Words seem to have such sharp edges today. Each letter too violent to use when all I want is softness. They are also too cold to warm me--backing away as I reach out my arms for comfort.
There is no reason to trust that our governments will strike any kind of balance between security and freedom. That is why it is imperative that we demand more transparency and input. With a joint action plan expected to be released soon, it is my hope that Canadians and Americans will reject any perimeter security deal that reduces privacy rights and further puts our sovereignty at risk.
This statement is ours, and for anyone who will get behind it. Representing ourselves, we bring this call for revolution.
