seems like cops are going crazy everywhere in the

has gotten a fine grip on this country. We need to ALL work together to
loosen that grip, even if we have to smash their hands to do it!

Racism Shmacism
A year and a half or so ago, I posted a story about how I flipped off a cop, and he threatened to "jam me up" the next time he saw me. Oh boy, I was SOOOOO outraged. Me, a white male, got SOOOOOOO oppressed by the mean old Man. WTF? Now here's a guy who gets pulled over by a cop, doesn't have his license (I assume he didn't have it ON him, as opposed to not having one period, but it really doesn't matter does it? I mean, he's just as dead either way...), they tell him to get out of the car and then shoot him when he goes to unbuckle his seat belt. He didn't even flip them off. What's the difference? He's black, and I'm not.

A Transman Meets Dennis Kucinich
I hope you will publish this article in the center features area. I am transgendered and Dennis Kucinich is the only presidential candidate who supports equal civil marriage rights for my lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered community. Bush would outlaw my right to marry with an amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Kerry would give me 2nd-class-citizen status with the crumb of civil unions, denying me 1,049 federal rights and benefits from civil marriage. ALL lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgenders, intersexed, questioning, and heterosexual allies should vote for Kucinich in the May 18 Oregon primary!

lets be considerate - in the sense that people want to read your message, put some time into it - make it readable. i am tired of wordiness in largely irrational venting.

The film "What the #$*! do we know?" has continued an unprecedented run at the Bagdad theater and is now spreading to other McMenamins locations. Anecdotal reports suggest many people are flocking to see the film 4, 5 or more times. However, not a single media outlet in Portland has reported on the link between the movie and its apparent sponsor, the Ramtha School of Enlightenment. This film gives new meaning to the phrase "cult classic."

15 Hours Later, Po-Po Still Mute
Fifteen hours have passed since the black man was killed by a Portland cop, & nearly nothing is known about what happened & why. Fifteen hours is a long time to determine, for example, if the man had a weapon. The man was dead inside his car, & the po-po is still investigating whether he had a weapon? Must be. Or maybe it's that the Division of Creative Spin does not have a night shift. Hey, Derrick. Hey, Vera. Was the man armed? Your silence is not helpful. Perhaps you are beginning to understand that there are a few psychopaths wearing PPB blue. That would indeed be hard to explain. I don't live in Portland, but the demand for Justice recognizes no boundaries, certainly not political ones.

Some people spout off without checking facts here at portland.indymedia
The idea that there is no difference between the Democrats and the Republicans in Congress on trade issues is ludicrous at this point in time. It is very easy go to such web-sites as thomas.gov, maintained by the Library of Congress, and verify, for example, the vote on "The United States-Singapore Free Trade Agreement Implementation Act" (H.R. 2739). I can understand that people are too busy (or too lazy) to want to dig into the facts, but then why are they so eager to fill in the missing facts with misinformation?

In the past two years that I've been locked up, I've used the time on my hands to analyze our movement and study the past histories of the struggle for liberation. One conclusion that has constantly come back to haunt me is that our movement has failed to prepare even in the smallest of ways for revolutionary struggle.

Ramsey Clark has written to urge the impeachment of George W. Bush. There's no doubt that there's evidence enough to support impeachment from the legalistic point of view, but practically impeachment is a very tough proposition with the Republican Party maintaining lock-down control of the Congress. The trick is to build a fire under the Congress with something that the American people can find believable.
