Clicking on the Avakian article, on this "selection 2004" page, gets me the spinning ball everytime and I can't get out of it except by manually turning off my Mac (OS X) and rebooting. Tried about 10 times.
Enron Corporation has been, and still should be, an entity closely IDENTIFIED with the Bush family and the Carlyle Group. It has long been way beyond a few million dollars in campaign contributions.

Rarely is an "arrest" of a citizen a Lawfull one. They are civil maritime arrests and the power brokers have hidden the information so that they can rule with an iron fist under maritime contract jurisdiction
This is a letter prompted by having seen the pictures of the torturing of Iraqui prisoners by American Army personnel. The false posturing by our diabolical president and the falsehoods of the generals notwithstanding, this is NOT atypical of the America they have been ushering in for over 2 decades. The majority of the soldiers in Iraq (and anywhere in the world) are like the ones in the pictures because the leaders are like the ones in the pictures: perverted psychopaths
On the morning of May Day, mayoral candidate Tom Potter had his second "Ride for the Recumbent" bike ride through the streets of Portland. About twenty people attended the event that rode up and down the Esplanade and Interstate Avenue. As a bicyclist and a reader of Indymedia, I would like to tell you about the bike ride with Tom Potter and why I decided to vote for him.
Why is the UK sleepwalking into an ID scheme that has not been discussed, but that is nevertheless somehow moving ahead at full steam? And, for that matter, why is Europe doing so? The United States? The world?
The torture of Iraqi prisoners of war is a part of US counterinsurgency strategy and is not due simply to a few deranged, sadistic American soldiers.
i found this in a review on Amazon of The Gun and the Olive Branch
Why does this guy's hateful articles keep getting published here?
Willy Week has named GPFX as some of this week's "Rogues of the Week." The reason? Because we "plucked cops' names from newspaper accounts at random" to identify the worst of the Portland cops. They seemed to forget that many of those newspaper accounts were FROM the Willy Week. Are they admitting their accounts are not trustworthy? They slam us for being anonymous, then sign their rant "BY WW EDITORIAL STAFF."

I wish to start this off by stating that I helped with the Arissa march and would like to work with them in the future, but I do not claim to represent Arissa. That said, I wish to respond point by point to this statement:
For thousands of Iraqis, liberation has been laser guided destruction and horror. Clinton Fein's 'Sweet Dreams', 'Uncomfortably Numb' and 'One Summer' provide three brutally realistic audio-visual commentaries.

The President of the United States absolutely has a personal connection to Enron!!!
What good are big unions if they are only looking out for their immediate members and interests. Big unions are supporting John Kerry, offer pittiful resistance to the corporate trade takeover, and seem only interested in their own jobs, period.
There are four possible accomplishments that will almost certainly guarantee a Bush/Cheney re-election in November. Achieving any one of the four greatly increases the odds of Republican success at the polls. Achieving two of the four makes Bush/Cheney a lock. Achieving three out of four and Bush/Cheney win by 15 points. These scenarios are as follows...
This was to be expected. The prostitutes that have thus far been doing what their masters with the money told them to have suddenly began to be sick of themselves. They want to change things but suddenly find that there is no going back to freedoms enjoyed before 9/11 because the owners, the true power, got the curtailment of press freedom that they were looking for. Put Sinclair on your list of people to be shot along with Bush and the rest of the devils. Check this article on the CNN website.

I confess I've been watching the NBA playoffs, having always loved basketball. (I used to take gleeful pride in outshooting grown men when I was a teenager playing ball on the court of Liberty Park in Jamaica, N.Y.) Recently, when Carl Malone left his torn shirt on during a Laker win, he told a reporter the reason: "I'm a warrior!"
I couldn't help thinking that not only Malone but most Americans don't know what a true warrior is. So I thought I would make it very clear to folks that we do have warriors, true warriors, soldiers who fought hard for our dignity, self-determination, and freedom - who put their lives on the front lines of struggle against racist repression inside and outside of the concentration camps and torture chambers of the state. However, most of our warriors are still locked up in prisons across the nation.

An APOC Stament Addressing Tokenization and White Privilage in the Radical Community
This past Sunday, April 25th, many thousands of Progressive voters, Green Party members, Ralph Nader supporters, radical feminists and anarchists stood in solidarity with the women of the USA and Planet Earth in demanding access to abortion without Church/State interference and without apology. Given the sponsors of the event, we were not entirely naive about some of the sentiments we'd hear expressed from the stage, and who we'd hear them from -- but nothing could prepare us for the shock of the depth, breadth, and pervasiveness of the collective public insults, hypocrisy and effrontery directed at Progressive/Green/radical constituencies by the day's speakers, including, as we're all well aware by now, former Secretary Of State Madeleine Albright, notorious as the architect of brutality and murder in Kosovo, Palestine and Iraq. . .
According to polls shown by the link below, the majority of Iraqis view the US presence in Iraq as an occupation, not a liberation, and the majority want US forces out immediately or in the next few months.

People are posting comments like crazy for "Voting for Kerry is voting for political violence", on the main page --- although that article clearly belonged here at the "selection 2004" page. Hmmm. Just wondering, though, is anybody even reading this? How about a comment? Testing, testing, testing, do you read me, over.
It is clear that the neocons had no real plan for the occupation, but a plan may be emerging out of the mishaps and mistakes to date. A way to slowly take over the entire Middle East, piece by piece. In the old days of the Ottoman Empire, they were called "satrapies" in the Middle East. Before Mao Tse-Tung united the Chinese people, they were called "war-lords" in China.
Officer Macomber justified the killing of Jahar Perez, in part, because he and Jason Sery were suspicious that a black man would be driving a luxury car in the hood.

A look back at the organizing and day of this contreversial event.
People squat for many reasons, including advocacy for the homeless, and protests for affordable rent. Squats often take the form of community centers, as squats are often the result of community action. Present-day squatting alliances, such as "Homes Not Jails" and "ASS" exist...

There has been a lot of discussion on various threads about political violence vs. non-violence. Various people and organizations appear to have opposed the march last Saturday due to their opinion that the organizers advocate violence.
All the various comments, many of them harsh and aggressive against the idea of political violence, started making me think about this more.
From "Back to Basics, Volume Three: A Primer for a Balanced Existence Amid the Ruins of Civilization"
in Green Anarchy #16/Spring 2004
We are often asked what our vision of society looks like, what kind of world we are fighting for, or how we would like to live. As anarchists, it is important to always keep this question open. While we can certainly agree on some basic things we are against: domination, hierarchy, control, government, representation, etc., what we are for is endless. This primer is an accumulation of our collectives' observations, experiences, and some suggestions on how one could reconnect with wildness and to becoming feral. We come from the dirty chaotic moving earth, not sterile white stagnant boxes... and this is our journey home.
Civilization, very fundamentally, is the history of the domination of nature and of women. Patriarchy means rule over women and nature. Are the two institutions at base synonymous?
We ALL can learn something from this!
