Where has the center gone?
The center has been systematically destroyed by what is now identified as "neo-con" politics and which began in the 1960's with William Buckley's "National Review" characterization of "liberalism" as "leftist". This "conservative" viewpoint took off with Barry Goldwater's "Extremism in defense of liberty is no vice," (which really says that the center constituted an attack on liberty), and continues up to the present day with Dubya's idea that "You are with us or against us," (which really means that if you object to the domination of politics by the Republican Party, as manifest in the USA Patriot Act, you are a supporter of terrorism).

Why I Want to Fuck Ronald Reagan
reagan was a despicable and dangerous man. it's really unfortunate that men like this die in comfort surrounded by loved ones in their beautiful homes at an advanced age. i take some solace in the fact that he was losing his mind for the past few decades and by the end didn't even recognize his wife. perhaps, when he finally closed his eyes for the last time, he thought himself surrounded by hostile strangers.

I'll Piss On His Grave
With the death of Ronald Reagan the world will now face a weeklong orgy of grandiloquent of US military power and American Imperialism. Reagan was a cold-blooded murderer, a union busting parasite, con artist, and a good liar. Reagan was evil personified, he can rot in hell.

Why is the Corporate Media Doing Marketing for Hooters?
It seems that every other day we're hearing about "Hooters" from the corporate media. Every time Hooters opens a new dive, they're on it. With everything happening in the world, they somehow find the time to cover this "story." Today, I'm hearing about a Hooters airline where men "get what they want" (snicker snicker nudge nudge).

Debunking the biggest myth about growth
The growth game devised by the Home Builders Association and the corporate community is to siphon as much natural wealth from the earth and as much fiscal wealth from the pockets of the poor and middle class as possible. The way to do this is to constantly feed the fire of demand, artificial demand then fulfilled with jacked-up supply. The way to generate demand is by putting in place the businesses that create the jobs that attract workers from other states and countries. While a few of the jobs provide middle to upper income wages, the vast majority of them are low-paying.

Losing Our Commons In the Portland Area
Another day, another Urban Growth Boundary expansion. What's the point of having boundaries if they're always going to be expanded? We keep protesting public lands forest destruction while forest and farm land destruction continues unabated right here in our Columbia-Willamette Watershed. When will it end? When will the so-called environmental elected officials stop giving all away to developers and big business?

Is There a Bottomless Pit of Federal Money Somewhere That We Don't Know About?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but why should we even bother to collect State sales taxes if the House is going to vote to allow people to write it all off at the end of the year? And doesn't even more bailout money in corporate tax relief mean less money for struggling public services? How on earth does the House think we are going to be able to do this and maintain crucial services, fund a "war", or shore up the increasingly demanding Office of Homeland Security?
