A Tale of Two Kings
Colonialism changes form but continues unabated as it has for over five hundred years. While reading King Leopold's Ghost, I was struck by the similarity in fabrications and lies told by King Leopold II to justify his actions with those given by George W. Bush to justify the Iraq war. The economic motivations and incredible hypocrisy of both men are also similar.

FDR's Second Bill of Rights
"Necessitous men are not free men." People who are hungry and out of a job are the stuff of which dictatorships are made.--Franklin D. Roosevelt

Browsing through a bookstore recently, I saw a new book called something to the effect of "FDR's Second Bill of Rights--Why we need them now..." I had never heard of his proposed second Bill of Rights, so I did some surfing... Think about his words in respect to what Republicans are currently doing and how prescient he was.

The Green Deceivers: Chronicle of a Nomination Foretold
So now that the American people are finally turning against the occupation of Iraq in huge numbers across both poles of the political landscape, the Green Party, the supposed banner of peace, justice and environmentalism, has settled on a plan of inaction that supports the perpetuation of the war and the corporate contamination of the American political system. That's the real import of the party's decision to support David Cobb, the stealth candidate, and his safe state's presidential strategy.

Where's the bold vision?
Anybody but bush is not good enough Every day the media reports growing opposition to the war; it is not just old-time peace activists like me who oppose it. The war has been a disaster. There were no weapons of mass destruction; there was no connection with al Qaeda; Saddam was not the culprit. Americans are deeply bothered by the prisoner abuse scandals in Iraq. We are embarrassed by the U.S. companies with no-bid contracts, which are reaping the profits of reconstructing the Iraq that we destroyed. The United States has lost its self-respect and the respect of other nations.

Salih Manasra 16.07.2004 00:23
Solidarity With or Against Palestine? On the US-based Solidarity with Palestine Movement
What the SJP preaches is no different. Their guiding
principles clearly state that their solidarity with
the Palestinians is conditional upon the Palestinian
adoption of their interpretation of "justice" which
manifests itself in the clear recognition of the
Zionist-settler state as a legal entity in Palestine.
Referring to Palestinian lands "illegally held" by the
"Israelis" implies that the group recognizes the
existence of Palestinian lands "Israelis" can
"legally" hold and therefore the cry for
decolonization of Palestinian lands excludes those
lands claimed in 1948 by force which the so called
"international laws" has recognized as "the state of
Israel".

Kerry caught in 1972 election scandal-brother breaks into rivals campaign office
WE need to throw this poser asshole out at the convention. ONLY John Kerry could be neck and neck with the most corrupt president ever. The reason....he's even worse. This is unacceptable. John Kerry won't call Bush on his B.S. and he is full of it himself so he is throwing the electiom to Bush. I just KNOW we can do better that John KErry. All my suspicions have been confirmed. He definately pulled some dirty tricks to 'win' this primary...I mean, does anyone know anyone who voted for this asshole in the primary? He had no campaign offices and no popular support..how the hell did he 'win'?

We don't have to just sit there and take this! WE have to FIGHT BACK!!!!!

When is Political Violence Justified?
Today I am writing about a very sensitive subject. Indeed, at this point in time it is a very dangerous subject to write about. The subject is political violence: when is it justified and when is it not justified. There are many positions on this topic and like most topics there are extreme positions. One extreme position is that political violence is never justified. This is the belief held by pacifists and followers of Gandhi. At the other extreme we find believers in political violence ranging from Stalinists, some Anarchists, Fascists, to Imperialists, among others. These political ideologies generally support the use of violence to achieve their ends.
