"The triumphalism of the Bush administration has vanished for a long time.. More than two and a half million jobs were destroyed since Bush took office.. The president's skid into the political danger zones was not surprising with strife in Iraq, a soft labor market, the shattering of public finances and painful cuts on the local and individual state planes.. No one has more reason for anxiety than Washington's neoconservatives."
It's important progs hear smart folks observations from the "other side."
Statement from political prisoner Alvaro Luna Hernandez to the Break the Chains Conference (Eugene, OR, Aug. 8 - 10):
"From within the belly of the fascist beast, we, inside and outside, must strongly oppose these war crimes by this government."
These are some musings on the personal experiences of being involved with the grass roots, indy-media, blog and e-mail driven campaign for president by Dennis Kucincih. In Portland there is a perfect fit between Kucinich and Oregonians, both independent and beholden to no one. But we're a strange lot here in Cascadia with our complete suspicion of anything organized. It's a lot like 'Herding Ducks'.
An overview of the books, videos produced about September 11, 2001 and the growing movement for truth and accountability.
A Truth-based dissection of the genocidally evil economic policies and structures that all human governments and societies inflict upon their citizen-slaves.
My name is Lori Chavez, known to most as RedRed. I am a Portland anarcha-feminist involved in autonomous community building and support. The purpose of this letter is to recap what happened to me while I was in Sacramento, and to ask for your support in my still pending felony legal case. On Friday June 20th, I came to Sacramento during a mobilization to shut down a meeting of the ministers of agriculture, including delegates from the USDA and the WTO. I came to take the streets and disrupt the business of genetic mutations, worker exploitation and land misuse. The destructive behavior of these institutions is not isolated; it is part of a system founded on the principles of exploitation. I came to help make the connection between the ministers of agriculture and the abomination that is capitalism. I had been in town less than a day when I first experienced the police state in Sacramento. While riding my bike down a major street, I was stopped by a police officer that demanded my ID. I refused to give it to him and stated that unless I was being arrested that I did not have to give my ID.
telling people who still use their cars that they are frauds for promoting progressive culture is assenine. any person willing to spend one afternoon out of their cars representing cultural change, whether or not its on the last friday of the month starting under the burnside bridge, has the same value and significance as the next. that's what makes it a MASS. that your criticism and theirs (or mine) WILL differ, is immaterial.
"`We celebrate the victory over the recession while several hundred thousand employees are dismissed every month', decried congressman Pete Stark from California. `This would be almost hilarious if it weren't so sad.'..The growth passes by the people. Insecurity grows. Those who still have work ;grit their teeth, finish the work of their terminated co-workers and hope for an improvement." Translated from German

Text Messages for Bush's visit
Bush's ministry of propaganda is sinister -- deceptively labeling policies like; Healthy Forests, Clear Skies, Patriotism -- only to construct those policies to the opposite of what is implied.
Don't mean to be too nitbicky, but...
BushCo dicking w/ the People and Press! (Powell, Terrorism Futures Market (PAM), Air Marshals getting pulled then not pulled)
In as almost as many business days, there have been 3 BIG stories coming out of the Administration via the Press - via the most legitimate journalists (albeit, that's not saying much):
Air Marshals being pulled;
that PAM grotesque, twilight zone thing;
and now the Powell resignation folliwed within hours of "no, no one ever said THAT!"
A short, interesting article about Leo Strauss, the 'father' of the neo-conservative (PNAC) ideology. Deception, religion, nationalism, all for the benefit of the elites and to control the masses.
For legal purposes I must say that this is a work of fiction and I am not trying to
incite anyone to break any law. This is for entertainment only.
Right. So as I was saying...
Why no PPRC announcements or event coverage on Portland IndyMedia?
On network news last night there was a 3 second mention of this, what should be a big news story. In today's paper and news...nothing. Looks like that story got pulled BIGTIME in the name of national security.
So 100's of soldiers are ill, two dead, and nobody's talking. The link below offered more information.

why mimic the networks?
How come no discussion of Dustin Keller?
This is the story of two men. Both of them killed three thousand people in a suicidal act of vengeance by demolishing what they took to be a sacrilegious temple. One of them is commonly derided as a murderous psychopath; the other is commonly celebrated as a hero.
Statement from anarchist prisoner Harold Thompson to the Break the Chains Conference (Eugene, OR, Aug 8 - 10):
"I send warmest of anarchist greetings to all attending the Break the Chains Conference, from the belly of the beast of capitalism, this rural gulag fiefdom ruled over by prisoncrats! I stand 100% in solidarity with those of you wishing to build a strong Anarchist movement in the United States which will be a force for the monsters of the earth to reckon with in the future."
Statement from anarchist prisoner Brian McCarvill to the Break the Chains Conference (Eugene, OR, Aug. 8 - 10):
"I wish I were there with you. The camaraderie must be exhilarating, the hands-on personal interaction, the kaleidoscope of visual imagery, the realness of the revolutionary effort in practice."
Statement from political prisoner Free (Jeffrey Luers) to the Break the Chains Conference (Eugene, OR, Aug. 8-10):
"The USA is flexing its muscles, daring anyone to challenge its power. From without it threatens with overwhelming military power. From within it threatens with fascist laws designed as much to intimidate as punish."
A question for you all AmeriKKKans.
Statement to the Break the Chains Conference (Eugene, OR, Aug 8-10) from political prisoner Jalil Muntaqim.
Dont put this as a feature-it's just a suggestion...
"Problems are not usually solved by themselves. When left unconsidered for a long time, they frequently become greater..The social development on our planet illustrates this simple observation..In Richard Estes' Quality of Life study, the US is still at the development state of 1980 and is presently on the same level as Poland or Slovenia./ Poverty is the greatest threat to progress."
A shockingly honest summation of recent events.

just how open is Soros' 'Open society'? What is it 'open' to? Notice the resemblance between soros' funding of dissidents in europe and recent events in cuba.....

A network of Religious Right groups, Free-Market economists, ultra-Conservative columnists and others "are using vouchers as a vehicle to achieve an ultimate goal of privatizing" the education system.
A massive conspiracy exists between evil corporate types in the nation and their Republican buddies.
When you cut right through it, right-wing ideology is just "dime-store economics" - intended to dress their ideology up and make it look respectable. You don't really need to know much about economics to understand it. They certainly don't. It all gets down to two simple words.
"Cheap labor". That's their whole philosophy in a nutshell - which gives you a short and pithy "catch phrase" that describes them perfectly. You've heard of "big-government liberals". Well they're "cheap-labor conservatives".
"The attack on Iraq had less to do with geo-strategy and tactics, world power policy and securing resources than with the fatality of a psycho-logic that transformed the shock of one's vulnerabilty into open aggression.. A kind of rage has replaced weighing reasons and considerations, a theo-politically charged Manichaism that can no longer find its way in the diffuse shadows of power politics and divides the world in good and evil.."

What are we doing next time?
Back in 1982, the percent of total working age men not employed for whatever reason-- discouraged, disabled, jailed, retired early, or officially out of work-- was 17.3 percent. But as of last month, that total was even higher: 17.8 percent not employed, which make the current job bust, at least for men, look far deeper than the official unemployment rate suggests.

There are two train bridges in north Portland across the Willamette, one decommissioned I believe. Are either accessible to bicycles? Anyone tried crossing them and have experiences to share?
"Robin Hood's negation is described in Ayn Rand's `Atlas Schrugged': `Robin Hood was the man who gave to the poor what he robbed from the rich. I am the man who gives to the rich what he robs from the poor - or more exactly the man who gives back to the productive rich what he robs from the thieving poor.. Economic globalization occurs at the expense of social, ecological and political rights." Translated fromGerman
Oregon Representative Jackie Dingfelder, in her most recent newletter, has asserted that House Republicans, who have the majority, are draining the state's budget in an attempt to push Republican legislation through. This article is a direct reprint from that newsletter.
Libertarians have SOLVED homelessness! Just eliminate all zoning laws, land-use regulations, growth-control measures, and building codes that increse housing costs -- but don't be surprised when your matchstick house collapses in an earthquake or becomes poisoned by the chemical factory next-door -- "Live and let live"
What we need to do is organize the workers.
Subject: Made In Oregon stores are a JOKE
(with an Action Item to follow)
I am ever so sorry to have to report this. Someday, will nothing be left that is sacred? I recently had an experience that shook me to the core. OK, it wasn't the police arresting me, again, because I had a video camera documenting their misconduct, nor was it a close call with a rattlesnake or a black widow spider. Not at all, nothing like that. Very recently I became a consumer at a place I thought I could trust, a Made In Oregon store. Here is my brief & sad tale...
