Part I ( http://www.onlinejournal.com/Special_Reports/020905Drolette/020905drolette.html) compared Bush administration actions to the first seven of fourteen "basic characteristics" Laurence W. Britt claims (in his article "Fascism Anyone?") typify fascistic regimes. Here's a similar look at the list's back end:
Anita HST Wife: "I did not hear any bang," she told Kass. She added that Thompson's son, who was in the house at the time, believed that a book had fallen when he heard the shot, according to Kass' report. Now that's interesting: WHY "slightly different"? Because CNN spinned some different CONCLUSION into it????? Stay with the facts!!! Learn from 'Bloggers'!!
I don't usually watch these award shows with a bunch of rich idiots giving awards to other rich idiots, but I have to say that Chris Rock hit the nail on the head at the Oscars last night. He again broke all the "rules" and spoke his mind.
Certainly democracy and freedom are not part of George W. Bush plans for Iraq. This Commander in Chief is not telling the truth to the soldiers who were sent to Iraq to die or to be maimed for life. He does not have to worry because he has no family members in any branch of the US military forces to face the danger of dying. He has friends in Corporate America and family members who are robbing the wealth of the Iraqi people and the American soldiers are paying the price with their blood.
In Response to such said question.
Compromise approaches to "saving" Social Security that involve voluntary private accounts on top of the current program are not going to help low-income workers. If Congress and the President really wanted to help protect low-income retirees, they'd end the legal theft of pension "vesting" so workers got pension contributions for every working day of their lives.
notice reality in other countries. This picture on the left was taken in France in 2003, on Bastille Day. Even though I don't care for Chirac, there he is, open car, waving, fully visible. A slightly more open and less fear based culture, eh?
Meanwhile, we have Bush and Cheney. We rarely even SEE Cheney due to 'security' or even know where he is because he is connected with the post 9-11 activated SECRET GOVERNMENT. For comparison, see the rare occuassions they are actually in public--in armored cars--unlike their staged events on secure military bases or Secret Service run press conferences, etc.
Keep in mind the reality most of the world has is like France, not like the U.S.

Israel has created a purgatory in which a free man is held prisoner because of nineteen year old memories in a fifty year old brain. What sensible motivation deprives a free man of his right to leave and make a new life?
This is a report of activities and events in Edinburgh on Saturday 26th February leading up to the day of Global protest on Saturday March 19th. I thought it would be of interest to `Puddletowners ` as some of you will be coming across to Gleneagles (50 miles North of Edinburgh)for the G8 protest in July.
Must read analysis, criticism and commentary on human religion. Very thought provoking! If you haven't read the entire three part series do yourself a favor. Please do. And read more of this writer's stuff too.
Day in and day out, patriotic American dissidents on both the left and the right keep shovelling through the bloody muck of the Bush Imperium. The filth is endless, Augean; Salon.com recently catalogued 34 ongoing major scandals, equalling or surpassing the depravity of Watergate. Yet still the patriots bend to the task, tossing up steaming piles of ugly truth before the public.
If G-Spot Female Ejaculation is one of the Great Sexual Wonders of the World, then Deborah Sundahl is Wonder Woman. In her book, Female Ejaculation and the G-Spot, she invites all women and their lovers to enjoy this once esoteric phenomenon that is just now flooding the world with pleasure.

An example of the ruin: In Minnesota, the Green Party has enjoyed majority status since 2000, but is now heading back to the political fringe. Cobb's poor vote total disqualified the Greens from $400,000 in public subsidies and automatic ballot access in the state.
I got lucky the other day. (No, I'm not talking about that kind of lucky. What do you think I am, a "family values" Republican at convention?)
this was to be posted days ago but due to hardware problems on Portland Indy Media it has been delayed.
This is a Fascist move to divide any possible united region against them. Ofcourse so will claim there is a eat west divide. Please do not let that false assumption gain media attention. The truth is that the region has shared cultural and historical features that transcends even the international border between Canada and the US.
SINCE THE election, the antiwar movement is showing signs of revival, but the same leadership responsible for the movement's hiatus during the presidential campaign is once again seizing the reins of control over the movement.

Yeah, I know, this never would have happened if I had been listening to KBOO...
Remember when the anti-war people alleged that the U.S. motive in setting up Afghanistan to be invaded was a projected pipeline connecting the Central Asian gas fields with India? We were told that such thinking was just conspiracy theory. But look at the news in the last couple of days . . .
It was a mistake for the peace movement to give Kerry a pass during the campaign, and it needs to correct that error by becoming much more militant now. But that doesn't mean wholesale rejection of the Democratic Party.
We often hear how Americans are a breed all their own. Compassionate, freedom loving, protectors of the weak, protectors of the innocent. There is no doubt that there are many great Americans and many great things have been done under the American Flag, but there lies a dark side to our history. A dark, deep, disgraceful and undeniable truth. It is the long epic of racism and bigotry that peppers America's history and it seems all to often to be forgotten.

America's apolitical culture breeds a curious, peculiarly American proclivity for political irrationality.
If "the gang that can't shoot straight" had actually "vectored the planes in," to quote Alexander Cockburn, we'd almost certainly have a lot better evidence for it by now.
Recently, I've noticed a disturbing deterioration in the quality of reportage from the BBC online (http://www.news.bbc.co.uk). Time was when they could be depended on for an authentically independent viewpoint, not obviously shilling on behalf of American corporate or government interests. Lately I've started to really have my doubts about them.

The word theocracy is derived from two Greek words meaning "rule by the deity." Throughout history theocracies have gained control of nations for short periods of time.
Is this a bad dream or a coming reality? Is it time to start storing food and supplies?
Since George W. Bush has taken office, we have seen many things from him:
a red herring to take energy out of the Prostitute-White House connection
Which Scott Ritter are we supposed to believe. The Scott Ritter of 2004 has done a complete about-face from his statements and comments in 1998. He previously exhorted the US to use military action!
Scott Ritter challenged the peace movement--that it has failed. Hard to hear, but we must be far more active, resolute, focused and coordinated. We must find ways to light the way for more people to find and join the peace movement. Demonstrations are not the only, or even the best way to make peace. We need to move beyond our comfort zones. If we do what we have always done, we will get the results we have always gotten.

When CBS goofed up, people were fired and quit in disgrace. But when dozens, maybe hundreds of news outfits run Bush administration-made propaganda posing as legitimate news reports, nobody has to resign. What gives here?
