United States government, 2005: If it walks like a goose… (Part II)
Part I ( http://www.onlinejournal.com/Special_Reports/020905Drolette/020905drolette.html) compared Bush administration actions to the first seven of fourteen "basic characteristics" Laurence W. Britt claims (in his article "Fascism Anyone?") typify fascistic regimes. Here's a similar look at the list's back end:

Hunter S.Thompson Silenced with Silencer????
Anita HST Wife: "I did not hear any bang," she told Kass. She added that Thompson's son, who was in the house at the time, believed that a book had fallen when he heard the shot, according to Kass' report. Now that's interesting: WHY "slightly different"? Because CNN spinned some different CONCLUSION into it????? Stay with the facts!!! Learn from 'Bloggers'!!

The American Soldiers Must Know
Certainly democracy and freedom are not part of George W. Bush plans for Iraq. This Commander in Chief is not telling the truth to the soldiers who were sent to Iraq to die or to be maimed for life. He does not have to worry because he has no family members in any branch of the US military forces to face the danger of dying. He has friends in Corporate America and family members who are robbing the wealth of the Iraqi people and the American soldiers are paying the price with their blood.

Forget Compromising on Social Security; First Let's End Employer Theft of Worker Pensions
Compromise approaches to "saving" Social Security that involve voluntary private accounts on top of the current program are not going to help low-income workers. If Congress and the President really wanted to help protect low-income retirees, they'd end the legal theft of pension "vesting" so workers got pension contributions for every working day of their lives.

Popping the Bush bubble of fear: compare these images
President Chirac in France notice reality in other countries. This picture on the left was taken in France in 2003, on Bastille Day. Even though I don't care for Chirac, there he is, open car, waving, fully visible. A slightly more open and less fear based culture, eh?

Meanwhile, we have Bush and Cheney. We rarely even SEE Cheney due to 'security' or even know where he is because he is connected with the post 9-11 activated SECRET GOVERNMENT. For comparison, see the rare occuassions they are actually in public--in armored cars--unlike their staged events on secure military bases or Secret Service run press conferences, etc.

Keep in mind the reality most of the world has is like France, not like the U.S.

American Holocaust
Without Sanctuary: Lynching Photography in America Allen/Littlefield Collection We often hear how Americans are a breed all their own. Compassionate, freedom loving, protectors of the weak, protectors of the innocent. There is no doubt that there are many great Americans and many great things have been done under the American Flag, but there lies a dark side to our history. A dark, deep, disgraceful and undeniable truth. It is the long epic of racism and bigotry that peppers America's history and it seems all to often to be forgotten.

Scott Ritter challenged the peace movement--that it has failed. Hard to hear, but we must be far more active, resolute, focused and coordinated. We must find ways to light the way for more people to find and join the peace movement. Demonstrations are not the only, or even the best way to make peace. We need to move beyond our comfort zones. If we do what we have always done, we will get the results we have always gotten.
