Would money have anything to do with 9/11?
On page 172 of the report of the 9/11 Commission --

"To date, the U.S. government has not been able to determine the origins of the money used for the 9/11 attacks. Ultimately the question is of little practical significance."

No, of course not, why would money have anything to do with it?

Increasing the flow of traffic and products into Portland will be harmful, not helpful
A report sponsored by the UN and the World Bank tells us that the Earth is near the breaking point. The cause? Overpopulation and overconsumption. So how do our intrepid leaders in Oregon respond? With business as usual, of course, planning right ahead to increase Oregon's population and consumption! So much for serving on the advent of sustainability. Rise up Cascadians, and say no to more growth as usual.

Another reason for Cascadia! (makes good economic sense!)
roud to be Cascadian/Support Local Econony 2Ribbons sticker Why do we Cascadians remain in this economic tragedy? We pay more in federal taxes and get back less. We have more national gaurd causalties than most parts of this corporatist system. Our lands and forests (our Mother) are seen as the profits of others. Our resources and commons are bottled, plastic wrapped, packaged, exported-to-be-imported and remarketed to be sold to us as something "owned" by filthy rich elite often from outside of Cascadia. We fear that our rights as states will be usurped by people who do not value our way of life or worldview such as the Oregon's Death with Dignity law or the repeated attempts to legalize pot. We watch as Fascists in the Whitehouse plan and plot the division of Cascadia by planting the seeds for gerrymandering western and eastern Washington or purposing the gerrymandering California or adding more restrictions along the US-Canadian border that divides Cascadia internationally.

Population growth a Small Problem compared to GNP Growth
Think, Simplify Carefully, Connect, Find the Strategy and Tactics that make Sens If you have ever practiced the rare and endangered art of math (subtractiuon will do) it is not hard to prove that at least in the medium run (10 - 30) years, that population is a much less severe problem than the growth of GNP. The analogy that I used to use was: Which can the Earth support more easily: 1. 5 billion Buddhist monks who own nothing, eat little and destroy little - or 1 billion US citizens?

Promised peace -- we get war
Theory behind action to stop appointment of anti-environment judges ! !

The promise made by the advocates of corporate globalization was that the elimination of trade barriers would remove the underlying causes of war. Thus, GATT was billed as the end of modern warfare. Then came genocides in Africa and the "necessity" of an air attack on the former Yugoslavia and the continued bombing of Iraq. Then there was 9/11 and, following that, Afgahanistan and Iraq. The promise of peace in a world freed of trade barriers has been replaced by the promise and the reality of perpetual warfare.

Has "everything" changed since September 11, 2001? Underlying economic and social problems involved in corporate globalization have not disappeared. Indeed, all those problems have worsened. Corporate media may try to excuse or escape from these truly overwhelming problems by a kind of 9/11 argument -- that a singularity in history has thrown things out of whack, but only temporarily. For example, the Iraq War isn't a manifestation of a systemic problem operating within the phenomenon of global capital, it's just a temporary perturbation -- or is it?

Why Mountain Justice Summer?
Mountain Justice Summer is a call to action and a request for help from the people of the Appalachia mountains for help in saving our mountains, streams, and forest from greedy coal companies. But why are we asking for help? Frankly it's because we are losing. More than 1,000 miles of stream have been buried and destroyed and countless mountains and ridge tops have been blown up-gone for all eternity. Additionally, under the Bush administration laws have been altered to encourage and accelerate the destruction. The price of coal has doubled, and the destruction of our watersheds is accelerating and spreading out like cancer not slowing down. Our state and federal agencies charged with protecting our environment are dealing out permits to these coal companies like crack dealers on the street corner the coal is the crack and the coal companies the addicts that will kill, destroy entire mountain ranges and bury streams in order to get their black fix.
