The Freedom From Fear Campaign will sponsor a funeral march for all that has been lost since the tragic events of September 11, 2001. The silent march will begin at the Space Needle at 10:30 a.m. and proceed to Seattle's major media centers, ending in Westlake Center. All who mourn the loss of innocent life, as well as the subsequent loss of democracy and civil rights, are invited to wear black and join the procession.
lets play connect the dots
Here lets ponder this around a bit. One September 11th it will be the anniversary of the building of the Pentagon.. oh wait and the attack on the Pentagon. Yep that is right the ground breaking of the Pentagon was ironically 60 years to the day on September 11th. So lets see here we have stories of a potential nuclear attack by terrorists, a weird situation with mounted nukes on a B-52 and a US Airforce stand down on the 14th of September (four days before the 60th anniversary)... hmmmm scratches head and ponders some more. What was that whacky expression that PNAC said "oh that is right a New Pearl Harbour".
Hmmm .... Gonzales steps down on the 17th and the USAirforce stands down on the 14th and Snow leaves when? Where is Rove in this? Where will Mr (not president) Bush and Uncle Cheney be on the 14th? Are all the copies of My Pet Goat checked out of the libraries?
Its been way overdue for Cascadians to get the hell out of this "federation" turned Empire. Please forward adn spread this news. Add this with Noble Resole and upcoming Top Off 4 with Cheney wish to nuke Iran. Why the Hell are we not pushing harder to arrest these fascists or break from the empire?
A small group of 40 citizens gathered in front of Rep. Baird's Olympia office to respond to his sudden conversion to supporting the war. Baird's office was expecting us. His staff greeted us with cookies and a desire to hear what we had to say. They cleared the parking lot so we could hold our rally.

Can any member of Congress read?
Could the B-52 with mounted nukes on the wings been part of a false flag against Portland during Operation Noble Resolve?

Sunday night vandals operantly spray painted anti-meat slogan on the wall of Longhorn Meat Co. in Auburn Washington. A picture of a decapitated cow along with the slogan "meat is murder" were painted. Oddly enough the word "PETA" was also painted.

Now why would the good patriots at Blackwater need airplanes that "can carry up to 1.5 tons of weapons, including 12.7mm machine-guns, bombs and missiles"? For their missions in Iraq, of course. Because, you know, the world's largest military merely owning everything that flies over a third-world country isn't enough in the way of air superiority.
Foster Farms one of the nations largest poultry farmers has plans to build 1.5 million chicken factory farm in rural Canby. Over 75 local residents showed up to a June 27th public meeting to voice their concerns over this proposed factory farm. Environmental and economic impact were among the main concerns of the local residents who will be directly impacted the project. A local group Friends of Family Farmers was formed to raise awareness of the take over of small family farms by large industrial factory farming.

An amazing story about alternative community rising up out of the ashes of the collapsing corporate state. And, it's located right here in Cascadia!
Interesting observations by those who suspect another terrorist attack is coming...
Salem Mayor Janet Taylor removed the much used Kiosks in Salem and told me there were plans to redesign them and replace them. Then she told me there was no planning of new designs being done. We post Akha human rights information on these kiosks and we see it as a matter of race that they are removed and not replaced. We have had numerous discussions with Janet Taylor, as have other Salem people, while she dodges this issue.
In the wake of a year-long surge of police brutality and repression against Olympia area activists, some have chosen to begin fighting back. But if we wish to have any success in fighting police brutality, we must clearly outline the issue, its contexts and nuances, and approach it with a clear alliance with the brutalized. The REAL story
Republican poster-boy Craig never met a river he wouldn't pollute or a tree he wouldn't cut for a small kickback. This is good news for the livablity of the Pacific Northwest. Good news for open human sexual expression. This evening, he is going through drafts of a suitably dramatic exit speech.
ass strikes back!
Craig's "any-minute-now" resignation is well deserved for his gay-bashing hyopocracy. But for years Craig has waged a relentless attack, fueled by big timber kickbacks, against the environment. Even staid Idaho Statesman acknowledges same in todays lead story:
As Astoria Port Commisioner he got in trouble, but not before he enriched himself-Just check out Astorian Articles on this loser, this staunch Karl Rove Republican. BEWARE
My boyfriend was recently driving through Scappose when he noticed at least a dozen signs saying "no garbege factory here" and "biodiesel can explode."

SASABE, Ariz. -- Another industry has been privatized in the United States by the Bush administration. This time it is the transportation of migrants for deportation. The Wackenhut Corporation, whose buses wait along the border to be filled with migrants for deportation, is actually a subsidiary of the Danish security corporation G4S (Group Securicor) in Denmark.
While Bush continues to ask for billions more to fund the Iraq occupation and Baird somehow thinks that winning a bad war makes sense, American soldiers continue to be killed. No matter how many times they repeat the lie that things are getting better, these soldiers, as well as the many Iraqis killed, show the truth. It is time to admit that the invasion was wrong and that the Iraqis are successfully resisting American occupation. No more people should die because Bush, Baird, et al lack the strength to admit we lost. Of course, it was never clear what winning would actually look like in Iraq--other than getting access to their oil. And the Iraqi government are resisting that too.
A Spokane anarchist named Travis Riehl is being brought before a grand jury because of his alleged involvement in the tagging of a military recruiting station.
The public comment hearing in Coquille on 8/28 was well attended by the public, the overwhelming majority 95% were opposed to the LNG facility proposed by Jordan Cove Energy Project (Fort Chicago) for the North Spit of Coos Bay. Many people addressed significant concerns that there was a risk to the community's safety and the estuary ecosystem of Coos Bay if said LNG terminal is constructed..
Question: Anti-Gay, anti-environment Craig pled guilty to soliciting undercover office in men's room -- but what became of his anti-gay legislation?
Despite the warnings from the media to avoid the demonstration in Bellevue on August 27th—all the streets were going to be closed, it would be dangerous, they said—about 1,000 people showed up to register their views. It was an upbeat crowed—perhaps because it was a rare opportunity to get in front of Bush to let him know what we think. Maybe because Gonzo resigned and it now feels that the Bush administration is unraveling.

Wavy Gravy made his first appearance at the Oregon Country Fair in 38 years this summer. Self described "flower geezer," Wavy Gravy the Clown has been delighting and enlightening generations of us since his days as icon of the 1960s counterculture (and later honorary ice cream flavor!) This was recorded at Wavy's appearance at The Front Porch stage of the Oregon Country Fair on July 15.
Wavy reminisces and reads passages from his book, "Something Good for a Change."
General rant against congressmen Baird and need for a new congress person
This should be another example of why being a braggart only lands you in prison. With the green scare, grand jury inditements, and snitch culture poking it's ugly head into our scene, we can't afford to lose anymore soldiers. keep your lips sealed!
No need to get to Bellevue by noon, since Bush will not arrive until after 4pm...That means you can jump on Amtrak and travel up here from Portland for $28.00 with all your signs and banners...
probably an inapropriate use of indymedia here.... I was wondering if the forest service road from hwy 26 down to ollalie lake is in decent shape.
As you may know, corporate polluter Northern Star has had designs on erecting an LNG plant on the shores of the Columbia river, in Bradwood, Oregon. That would mean the defilement of salmon habitat, the destruction of wetlands and estuary, and the desecration of one of the most beautiful places on the planet. The people of the river have been engaged in a fierce battle of resistance against the building of this plant. Last night, the people came one step closer to victory.
How does an informant with no credibility become the star witness in a sting operation. In the Coos County Courthouse documents just seem to disappear.
