Mt. Hood "Tragedy" - Is Bourgeois Press Encouraging Belief In Wilderness Rescue Miracles?
Little has been said about the wisdom of their decision to attempt to scale one of the tallest mountains in the Cascade Range during the worst time of the year for such an adventure. I realize that the families of the victims are holding out hope that their loved ones will be found to have survived the hellish conditions they encountered this week; I do not wish to add to their suffering by publishing this article. It is in the interest of preventing the loss of lives in the future that I present this piece, as my research into this tragedy has turned up some very interesting information regarding the quality of information available to the public regarding weather conditions in the region, and the facilities available to those who attempt to scale these very dangerous peaks.

Last Biscuit report back shows logging loopholes
An OSHA loophole recently gave the FS the green light to log giant green trees Are Oregon's roadless forests being sent overseas and certified as sustainable forest products by Oregon Overseas? This is a late final reportback on Biscuit roadless logging. Biscuit Logging is mostly done now, although Silver Creek may finish plundering the North Kalmiopsis roadless area this spring, and they may still log the massive live "hazard" trees the Forest Service has rewarded them. They call it an OSHA requirement to take out the biggest and best live old-growth trees along roadways.

Christians Protest Halloween Then Push for Christmas
Recently a Rabbi asked the Sea-Tac Airport to display an 8 ft. menorah alongside the 8 large Christmas trees they had on display. The airport blew him off. He threatened to sue. The airport went to the local media and made the Rabbi out to be a Grinch. Outraged Christians lodged 500+ complaints and threatened the Rabbi. Under pressure, the Rabbi said he would not sue so they have now put the 8 trees back up...but what about the menorah? Christian privilege gets old.

This slice was cut from a fresh 440 year old tree stump? at the Mr. Wilson sale. The Oregon Bureau of Land Management (BLM) which manages 2.6 million acres of public forest lands in western Oregon plans to slaughter Oregon' last ancient forests by eliminating the Northwest Forest Plan and weakening all other environmental safeguards to please their Oregon timber baron masters. These recent court rulings by the Ninth Circuit Federal Court of Appeals shows us again and again that the BLM is an out ot touch and an out of control federal agency!

In February 2006, Greenpeace, Sierra Club and other groups celebrated a historic agreement with government and industry to bring an end to the "war in the woods" in the Great Bear Rainforest area of coastal British Columbia. Less than a year later, observers say the agreement may be unraveling. Timber companies have ratcheted up the rate of clearcut logging to unprecedented levels, and guidelines for sustainable logging are not being implemented.

Brandon Mayfield Vindication: FBI Terrorism is Over the Top
The FBI has just settled on the lawsuit filed by Brandon Mayfield for $2 million. A couple of years ago, you may recall, Mr. Mayfield was topping the FBI's list of "terror" suspects in the wake of the 2004 Madrid bombings...even after Spanish authorities told FBI agents they had the wrong man. Using such shabby "evidence" as a homework assignment written by one of Mr. Mayfield's children, which they acquired via sneak and peek raids of his home, the FBI and the US Government harassed, hounded, and illegally imprisoned Mr. Mayfield. Today, they had to pay.

Thank You From Grand Jury Resistor Jeff Hogg
Thanks you so so much to everyone who supported Cecilia and I with love, letters, food, money, legal representation, outreach & media work, organizing fundraisers (especially the garage sale), yardwork, firewood, palm readings, cranio-sacral body work, and loaned-cars that allowed Ceci to make the 5 hour drive to visit me when our car broke. It is important that as a community we stood up against Grand Juries and the McCarthy-esque Green Scare. My role was no more important than yours. We couldn't have done it without you. This has been a success for us all in community-building at a time when the Federales have been spreading divisiveness. Hooray for solidarity! All for one and one for all!

Let's continue this support for the other Grand Jury resistors in San Francisco and wherever else they may be.
