US attack on Tal Afar virtually ignored
Sept. 16, 2005

While the world has been falling all over itself to remember the victims of 9-11 and digging deep in its pockets to aid the wealthiest nation on the planet recovering from a natural disaster, a ferocious man-made onslaught on a town in northeast Iraq is being virtually ignored.

This is yet one more example of the double standards prevalent today when the color of your passport can determine your worth as a human being.

We saw this discrepancy recently when 1,000 Iraqis—mainly women and children—who lost their lives on a Baghdad bridge were a mere footnote in the Western media.

And we are witnessing this discrepancy now as our screens fill with images of Hurricane Katrina and 9-11 commemoration ceremonies with next to nothing about the horrors of Tal Afar, a stricken town in northeast Iraq, accused of harboring insurgents.

"Hey Buddy, can I borrow a medic?" Military requests assistance from BARHC Radical Medics
The situation in Algiers got a bit more surreal this week when the U.S. military asked the anarchists for help in providing basic services to local residents. A medical military clinic commander asked the folks running the Common Ground Clinic if they could lend a few medics and doctors to the military until the military sets up a "permanent" health clinic on Newton Avenue on Monday.

Infoshop News talked to Michael Kozart, a doctor at San Francisco General Hospital, who is volunteering at the Common Ground Clinic.

"Why aren't you all [the military] helping us transport people to the medical center? Why don't you provide us with some of the generic drugs that you are paying for with donations? Why doesn't the military help us with funds? Why don't your provide some of your personnel so we can train them is some basic medical care?

Katrina’s Heart of Darkness: A Vermonter Describes The Devastated Ninth Ward
As we drew closer to the ward, we began to see large "x"s spray painted on the sides of every house. In each quadrant of the X were written letters and numbers. In the top it read "9-6." To the left, "TX-1." To the right, "NE." At the bottom, "1." We correctly guessed that these symbols we the record of a search conducted by the military or other government agencies. The top obviously represented the date of the search. The left, the unit who conducted it. The right was a code for the type of contamination found within. The bottom number told the grim tale of how many bodies were found. Again, these were on every house.

Rainbow Rescue in Mississippi at "Wall-less Mart"
This is reposted from one of the Rainbow lists I'm on. We in the Rainbow family of Living Light are accustomed to feeding thousands at our annual Gatherings for World Peace and Healing that have been held since 1971 in the National Forests and Globally. These are an excercise in creating intentional community, and small villages of over 10,000 people are created in the forests for a couple weeks. So naturally in keeping with our love for serving each other, and in the spirit of creating community through participatory democracy, some buses with filtration systems and kitchen supplies have gone to help out, and anyone and everyone is welcome to lend a hand with medical efforts and providing warm meals.

Volunteers are needed and welcomed, for those who want to help out with Mississippi relief efforts. If you've helped with FNB, then you are well-suited to help out and your help would be much appreciated.

For more info about Rainbow go to: www.welcomehome.org.

To donate to our medical and food efforts, go to:  link to tinyurl.com - these all go to the same place.

Pre-Katrina "urban renewal" buy-up of 25% New Orleans by alleged 9-11 mafia links
Are there NYC'er Judah Hertz links, who recently bought 25% of New Orleans,.... This goes on about the tentative similar parallel to alleged gangster connected Hertz who just bought up 25% of New Orleans--and how he is allged to be connected to the Israeli and Colombian Drug Cartels. That goes well with the more well known Bush/Israeli/Lansky/Malnik/ mafia connections--only one remove from George H. W. Bush.

It doesn't take a detective to note that if Hertz has alleged links to Israeli mafia and drug smuggling money laundering into real estate, and that the Bush ties into this very nexus of Israeli mafia are more well known, that the aftermath of the Hurricane Katrina disaster may have been well planned out at least 26 months in advance, when Hertz began to buy up 25% of New Orleans. Is this a Bush redevelopment operation outsourced to Hertz?

And if it is a PRELIMINARY buy-up, that makes the hurricane even more sinister if a HAARP attack was planned out with urban renewal in the same cold blooded breath. After all, Hurricane Katrina was heading directly across the Gulf of Mexico, until, screech, it makes a 90 right turn dead toward New Orleans when it gets directly south of it.

Was any of the news coming from the corporate media accurate with regard to New Orleans? This article raises issues surrounding looting (black men with guns getting supplies for those who need them), gangs (armed white vigilante groups), police (lying about busses and detouring people to prevent protest), and the future of New Orleans. Will the rich rebuild the city with "fewer poor people" paid with taxpayer dollars funneled into the pockets of the corporate cronies of the Bush administration? Or will something far more important take place as the communities choose their own path for the city. --tc

The main concern now is for medical personal who can prescribe meds. Under the Louisiana state of emergency, all MDs who have active medical licenses in their home state have instant prescribing privileges here in Louisiana--simply bring copies of your license and DEA. I am not sure if this applies to NPs--could someone check on this? I will have to leave Saturday or Sunday, and at this time, I've been the only physician regularly working in the clinic...We desperately need a prescribing clinician to be able to commit to being here for a bit of time...

The Animatronic Presidency
It's way past time to demand a total manufacturer's recall on the world's first Animatronic Presidency. I know, the voters lost their chance in 2004 when they let the limited four year product warranty expire. However, that limited warranty does NOT apply to life-threatening defects in parts and workmanship or willful negligence on the part of the Manufacturer.

In this case, the defects have proven quite lethal, en masse, and the
workmanship shoddy and fatally flawed. At first, it was lethal only to
innocent bystanders (upwards of a hundred thousand in Iraq,
Afghanistan, etc), but now, it has proven highly lethal to thousands of
the end users themselves (the Gulf Coast, among other places).

From Victims to Vandals: Mass Media and New Orleans
Briefly, but dramatically, the political failures that turned New Orleans and many other Gulf cities and towns into a human catastrophe, shattered the bonds of conformity between the mass media and the government. Critical reporters described the failure of the government's Homeland Security to evacuate vulnerable poor people and the absence of basic food and water for the victims. The media contrasted Bush partying with Republican cronies in California, Vice President Chaney on the golfing green, Secretary of State Rice shopping in Manhattan and Homeland Security boss Chertoff claiming that disaster relief was in excellent shape with the cries of desperation and destitution of tens of thousands of poverty-stricken and hungry African Americans and poor whites barely surviving in a dark, filthy convention center and sports arena.
