The late Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir hatefully barked that the Palestinians "never existed." William Kristol acts the same way towards them. The next time he appears on TV, watch him very closely. He reminds me of HAL, the computer from the space film '2001', with no soul, heart or feelings.

Democracy Now transcript:
We speak with Harpers magazine publisher Rick MacArthur about what is being described as one of the most secretive presidential trips in American history. [Includes transcript]
This is Paul Krugman's column from today's New York Times (Dec. 2nd). It is interesting that he spacifically calls out the mainstream press for reporting Diebold/Vote fraud stories as Business news rather than political scandal. This could be huge.
So Michael Moore has progressive political views on some issues. So what? News flash: So does John McCain; Dick Cheney even expressed "progressive" views on homosexuality in a televised interview. No, Moore isn't either of those people, he's a lot more progressive than they are and maybe than most people. But that doesn't make him a hero, especially when he uses the mileage from those progressive views to direct liberal scorn at "the left", to openly call for a war criminal to run for President, and to express belief in the guilt of a death row inmate with lots of evidence for his innocence.
Just remember: vote Democrat, Mumia's guilty, and forget all those crazy causes. So says Michael Moore, and the chorus of loyal liberals following in his path. Or, if they're not actually saying it, they sure aren't dissenting.
Iraqi scientists never revived their long-dead nuclear bomb program, and in fact lied to Saddam Hussein about how much progress they were making before U.S.-led attacks shut the operation down for good in 1991, Iraqi physicists say.
Order of Battle CentCom reports and "embedded reporters" coverage was found to be about 70% unreliable when compared to the situation and evidence on the ground.
"FOX News exists to bludgeon even timid anti-imperialist voices, whether they emanate from the Right or Left."
Current headlines celebrate coalition victory as though 54 Iraqi fighters were killed during an ambush. Actual number of those killed may be under 10. Coalition forces were reportedly firing indiscriminately, leveling three buildings and firing at a kindergarten with a tank. Note that the collision of two Black Hawk helicopters is finally being attributed to a missile attack; the Iraqi civilians on the scene reported it correctly on the day it happened.
Today I have decided to feature the poet Don Marquis. I have included a forward. Most folks don't know that major newspapers used to feature poets and artists as part of their papers. This is one of the most well known. We are striving to take back the media, and as we do so indymedia captures the finer aspects of human intellect infusing poetry and art into our movement which is timeless in it's search for human dignity and human rights. With this we bring traditions of the past that were erradicated in search of corporate control by the media.
A poetic jibe at the complacent mases.
Progressives and sensible people everywhere need to find a way to divide the conservatives from their neoconservative masters.
Air Force One flew into Baghdad under conditions of secrecy so total that air traffic controllers at the airport did not know the identity of the plane. Bush was taken from his ranch in Crawford, Texas in an unmarked car, and Air Force One flew under a false call signal, with its lights off and escorted by US jet fighters.
The siege mentality of the administration is shown by the restrictions imposed on the handful of reporters and cameramen who accompanied the president. The stridently pro-war Fox News camera crew were the only ones permitted to record the event, with even CNN being rebuffed from participation.
Bush spent 27 hours in the air in order to spend only two-and-a-half hours on the ground in Iraq. His own itinerary suggests that the US military barely controls even the perimeter of the Baghdad airport, the headquarters of the occupation force.

The NYT advances a modest proposal for a bloodbath, what it terms a "three-state solution," based on the partition of Iraq along ethnic and religious lines.
Its author Leslie Gelb previously headed the Council on Foreign Affairs, the influential Washington think tank that provides a forum for corporate executives, CIA and State Department officials, and a select group of establishment journalists and academics with intimate ties to these camps. Gelb himself followed stints at the Pentagon and the State Department with his position as columnist and editor at the Times. His proposal is a clear manifestation of a reactionary nexus between the US State Department, Israeli intelligence and the Times' editorial board.
A powerful banking group with close links to the Pentagon, which has also invested money on behalf of the Bin Laden family, is in talks to bail out beleaguered Daily Telegraph owner Conrad Black.
If Carlyle - which, despite being only 15 years old, manages more than $14 billion in funds on behalf of investors such as George Soros and the Bin Laden family (who are estranged from their son Osama) - does take a stake in Hollinger, questions are bound to be asked over the links between the two firms, both of which have powerful links to the military.
The a good summary of how the Republican controlled Congress is trying to bury the FCC rules issue. We need to remain active on this issue to preserve any liberty and democracy we have.

Today, if Rich Lowry stood in Coalition-devastated Iraq, at the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, he would be at a source that once "watered Sumeria and Akkad, and nourished the Hanging Gardens of Babylon" (Will Durant's "Story of Civilization"). The peoples of this ancient land, once known as Mesopotamia, (part of which is holy also to Christianity), prepared the first codes of law, under the magnificent Hammurabi.

The CIA has now announced that the Iraqi resistance is "broad, strong and getting stronger", with numbers estimated at 50,000. The Bush regime's panic is reflected in its adoption of Israeli revenge tactics, using F-16 aircraft to drop 500lb bombs on residential areas called "suspect zones". They are also burning crops: another Israeli tactic. The parallels are now Palestine and Vietnam; more Americans have died in Iraq than in the first three years of the Vietnam war. The Americans hold more than 4,000 prisoners - a higher figure, it is estimated, than those incarcerated at any time by Saddam Hussein. "Out there", the Iraqi dead and suffering are still unpeople, their latest death toll not worthy of the front page.

As early as Aug. 6, 1999, "NY Times," Abe Rosenthal, an influential voice within the Israel First Brigade, was demanding a U.S.-led attack on Iraq. He also championed the economic sanctions against that beleaguered nation, totally oblivious to the widespread suffering they were causing (Casi.org.uk). He insisted that Saddam Hussein had WMD and that within a year Iraq could become "a nuclear power." Query: Is Rosenthal now putting a contract out on Iran?
The Los Angeles Times instructed its editors not to speak any more of Iraqi resistance fighters. Instead the words rebels or guerillas should be used according to the email order.."

This isn't news, really, just a rant.
This week George W. Bush faces a week of intense, non-stop protests. But you would never realize the importance or significance of these events if you relied on the corporate media or even the so called "alternative" or "progressive" media.
Bush and his administration faces a week of protest, first in the UK and then in Miami. To get the news as it happens, unfiltered by corporate editors and journalists, and untampered by money, follow http://www.indymedia.org.uk/ and http://www.indymedia.org.uk/ and link to www.ftaaimc.org.
Undercover reporter: "Had I been a terrorist intent on assassinating the Queen (Elizabeth) or American president George Bush, I could have done so with absolute ease," Journalist Ryan Parry wrote in the Daily Mirror.
With world attention and global headlines turned towards the protests in the United Kingdom and the FTAA in Miami, suddenly a new scandal erupts for Amerikan corporate media to waste the public's time with: "authorities have issued an arrest warrant for Michael Jackson on multiple counts of child molestation." What amazing timing...meanwhile, the world awaits the arrest of war criminals Bush and Blair.

Rush must realize the implications for what he espouses, so every time you hear the phrase "drug addict" use "Rush Limbaugh" instead: "When drugs come into our neighborhoods, violence follows and thugs and criminals like Rush Limbaugh dominate our streets"
