The Frustrated Journalist 21.04.2006 23:45
A Wave of Red Hits the News
In China, propaganda dominates the airwaves and the publications, freedom is not a cherished idea, and dissent automatically leads to incarceration or death. The media is just another arm of one of the most oppressive governments in the world. In America, we watch our rights to free speech and to a responsible media system dwindle. We aren't as bad as China yet, but we certainly aren't the democracy we used to be. It's time to take action through more grassroots media work and through enacting legislative reforms for mainstream media.

Net Neutrality Death or Life of Internet Decided in US Congress NOW, contact info!
55 people determining "Congress is about to sell out the Internet by letting big phone and cable companies set up toll booths along the information superhighway. Companies like AT&T, Verizon and Comcast are spending tens of millions in Washington to kill "network neutrality" -- a principle that keeps the Internet open to all. A bill moving quickly through Congress would let these companies become Internet gatekeepers, deciding which Web sites go fast or slow -- and which won't load at all..."

Here it is, it's been knocking on the door for a while...the corporate majors are about to strangle the internet. The voting is down to the wire. Please contact undecided members of Congress on the Committee [26 yellow dots below as undecided yet, 8 green voting already for net neutrality; 21 red voting to kill net nutrality]. In the map below caught off the website, many have NOT VOTED YET in this crucial issue that will decide "network neutrality" as well as future content streams of the Internet. Contact the undecided if you can at the website  http://www.savetheinternet.com ; media activist and author Robert W. McChesney is President of this action.

Corporate Media says Foxworth Must Go? Then I Support Him.
Apparently, the bOregonian has called for Foxworth's ouster over allegations that he acted inappropriately with a female subordinate. KOIN and KATU have implied as much as well. I was not sure how I felt about all this, because I do not agree with any sexist behavior, yet I have found Foxworth's softer manner to be refreshing after the (gag) Kroeker years. I was also very squeamish about the release of such personal conversations that I really think should have remained private. I think my mind is now made up in favor of the Chief.

Another Surreal Day in the Age of Bush
Dr. Death The baseball season opened on April 3, 2006. President George W. Bush was in Cincinnati and tossed out the "ceremonial" pitch. Jay Leno said it went off to the "far right." Meanwhile, nine brave U.S. troops were killed in Iraq on that day; one for every inning Bush was at the game. Zacarias Moussaoui, a suspected mental case, faces the death penalty for 9/11. Also, corruption-tainted Rep. Tom DeLay (R-TX) fears a hammering from the justice system.

Counter Strategies
Mainstream media has largely ignored two recent events that would have attracted sustained media attention in the past. Half a million Hispanics and other protesters flooded the streets of LA while in France a staggering three million protesters confronted the authorities. These protests occurred in quick succession but barely rated a mention in the popular press. Activists and analysts have been aware for some time that the independence and impartiality of the mass media has been compromised. Regardless of the magnitude and impact of a specific event, if it is considered to be incompatible with certain interests, it is disregarded.

CNN Fears 911 Truth - Cancels Ed Asner's Appearance
Infowars received an email from author and publisher Sander Hicks this afternoon indicating that the interview with Ed Asner scheduled for this evening on Showbiz Tonight has been cancelled. Hicks, a published author on the 9/11 cover-up as well as a Green Party senatorial candidate in New York was slated to appear with Asner on the program to discuss 9/11. Infowars confirmed with sources at CNN the segment was cancelled because another guest who had agreed to appear as an opposition voice to Hicks and Asner refused to participate the interview at the last moment. The CNN source further indicated that the opposition guest was none other than a former member of the Keene 9/11 whitewash Commission.

Is Moussaoui under US government mind control?
CIA MK ULTRA implant into Is Moussaoui just a human MK ULTRA robot? What does it mean that he had Berg's email address and passwords on his laptop (Berg likely being CIA himself, then beheaded by the U.S. in Abu Gharib and his body shipped back to the top secret miltiary base even though he's a civilian...), unless they are part of the rogue CIA traitors network that goes right to Tenet and Boren and Graham and Kyl and others on the day of 9-11?

Moussaoui seems to have been "envisoneered" out of whole cloth for the show trial ("arrested before 9-11, blamed for 9-11!?"--that of course makes nothing in the way of legal sense). I think it is becoming clearer that "Operation Moussaoui" was just an anticipated public relations gesture, putting Moussaoui himself as a candiddate for U.S. government brainwashing and insertion into the traitor's network that perpetrated the 9-11 events directed by the Bush Administration. Moussaoui is their public relations vehicle, to disguise that no one else has ever been found to back up their official story, and to disguise that the military and FBI were all PROMOTED for standing down on 9-11 or altering local loyal FBI warnings about many people. Plus the rejection of the FISA to look on Moussaoui's laptop before 9-11 by the CIA, only means that M was their agent. CIA traitors were protecting Moussaoui for a purpose: he's with their clique. His bizarre "admittals" on the stand only serve to polish him off. Moussaoui, the new Sirhan Sirhan.

Disguised Attack on Free Speech
The digital revolution has created an imbalance in the supply of information, which has impacted heavily on minority ruling interests. Media moguls, minority interests and their puppet governments are lamenting the good ol' days when the mass media supplied 'disinfected' information to a gullible population. Millions around the globe are now able to exchange information, become independent publishers and have a 'voice'. It is not surprising that information from sources at an 'event' often contradicts popular reporting and tailored versions disseminated by the mass media and centralist governments.

As mainstream media and unrepresentative governments narrow the scope and range of social discourse, the public network has exploded with millions of 'voices' that continue the public discourse in a social space conveniently created by the forces that fear free expression most. The blogosphere is without competition as the primary body of free speech in today's digital age. It is not unexpected that the content and character of independent speech is in contrast and opposition to the mainstream discourse of minority interests. It would seem that attempts to limit and tailor the social debate have resulted in unexpected consequences.

Popping a U.S. media bubble: Cuban billboards show Bush shielding terrorists from justice
Hope this one spreads like a blog wildfire... nice pics to capture and save of the artificility of the U.S.'s "war on terror" when the U.S. is really conducting a "war for protecting terrorism"--shilding terrorists from being brought to justice, conducting extrajudicial torture chambers worldwide, doing covert ops terrorism to destabalize Iraq (i.e., like the British terrorists in Basra who the Brits broke out of jail with a UK tank instead of see their terrorists see justice.)

Several pictures from Cuban ad campaign at the link popularizing hypocritical links between Bush state managed "war OF terrorism," which is particularly clear in Bush's shielding of terrorist Luis Posada Carriles, with Carriles's known associations with the CIA and other covert and overt agencies of U.S. terrorism worldwide.

When Propaganda Controls America’s Thinking
Oswald Spengler, Author Propaganda is a science. No one knows that better than the Bush-Cheney Gang. It cleverly used every scare tactic and lie available to con the country into the Iraqi War. In the Dubai port deal, those same kinds of ruses were turned against it. George Bush was hoisted up on his own petard. The great Oswald Spengler reminds us of how the Media can influence us, via repetition, into believing any kind of lie. Now, will the U.S. be lied into a war with Iran?

U.S. repression of journalists
Bush and his ultra-right honchos are really pissed this time - in their efforts to track down a US loyalist, who spilt the beans on domestic spying, the Bush gestapo are now targeting journos and the free press. All the 'security' agencies at this megalomaniac's disposal have been commandeered for the task. This attack on the free press is yet another devastating blow directed at the already battered body of American democracy and liberty. America, the home of the brave and the land of the free, has been relegated to the historical record. This new land is an abominable aberration of the original.

"..and we all shine on.." - in the dark!

[History does record that the American Revolution was won by a brave and fearless people - they are without doubt in extremely short supply today!]
