How Not to Interview Donald Rumsfeld
Bush and Rummy Cal Thomas is a Right Wing hack, who has shilled for the bloodbath that is the Iraqi War. On Dec. 7, 2006, he interviewed Donald Rumsfeld, the outgoing Secretary of Defense at the Pentagon. "BaWa Walters, herself, couldn't have done a worst job of puffery. No questions were asked by Thomas about U.S. or Iraqi casualties, WMD, or the fact that Rumsfeld has been charged with war crimes. Thomas' shameless spiel mocks the idea of a Free Press.

Media Criticism - the bed bug story
Media stories about bed bugs are found to be full of disinformation, which is a sign of either lazy reporters not seeking out enough sources, or a disinformation campaign being launched by the chemical lobby which does not want to be blamed for an environmental disaster, such as a plague of pesticide resistant bed bugs.

It's Happening Again!
The lead-up to the invasion of Iraq has become notorious in the annals of American journalism. Even many reporters, editors and commentators who fueled the drive to war in 2002 and early 2003 now acknowledge that major media routinely tossed real journalism out the window in favor of boosting war.

But it's happening again.

Community Radio Turns Activist: Venezuela Radio Stations Challenge threat of Fraud
Seize the means of production? How ´bout we start with the means of communication.

The mainstream media outlets are widely credited here in Venezuela for aiding and abetting the perpetrators of the coup attempt in 2002 and oil industry shutdown in 2003. During these crucial moments for the new democracy, the TV channels either avoided the truth by blasted cartoons and nonsense, or tried to incite violence and confusion by completely distorting actual events to discredit Chavez supporters and give away airtime to hard-line opposition leaders.

Cyber Monday: How the Corporate Media Manipulates The Public Into Mindless Consumption
Every "news" broadcast in every city in the nation has been running non-stop feature stories today about something dubbed "Cyber Monday." Newspapers, radio broadcasts, and even podcasts are talking it up. Cyber Monday, Cyber Monday, Cyber Monday, Buy Buy Buy Buy.

Where did this come from? Did anyone ever hear of "cyber monday" before today? Why is it breaking over everyone's lips so suddenly...as if by plan? Perhaps because it was a plan.

I just added a comment to the recent article called "useful legal tools--we need to use them," and my comment was relegated to the discussion column. I suggested that women be at the front and center of the most visible edge of the revolution we have all been talking about. It was a strategic idea, because women would meet less resistance from the police or whoever. This comment was relegated to the discussion page, which marginalizes the thought of women being responsible for executing the revolution.

Six Flags over Neo-Nuremberg: Bush, Oprah & the San Diego Chicken Panopticon
Many believe fascism will come to the United States of America resembling contrived spectacles such as the Super Bowl, the Academy Awards, and American Idol, with the proceedings intercut with teary, yet ultimately triumphant, Oprahesque tales of how redemption can be gained through the renunciation of one's rights and liberties, as well as, the dutiful turning in of one's subversive neighbors.

Don't reach for that remote, folks: It's already here.

Our journey to fascism began at the end of the Second World War, when the tenets of the hyper-commercialized entertainment / military / corporate state became sacrosanct by means of our internalization of it from constant mass media reinforcement. What purported to be only a message from our sponsors metastasized into the 24/7 corporatized UberCulture of the present day. The Revolution will not be televised - because the Corporatist Coup is being continually broadcast.
