Global resistance is rising. In response, the global corporate media have done everything in their power to downplay the size, scale, number, and importance of protests, marches, actions, organizing, and other forms of resistance. In the United States, the peace and social justice movements in other countries are rarely mentioned. You only have to look at the coverage of peace marches in European countries, the U.S. backed coup in Venezuela, the growing movements in Latin America and South America, and countless others to begin to see the pattern. Likewise, news about organizing, tactics, and actions occurring within the U.S. are often concealed from the global community These pages represent a testament to the variety of ways that people are learning to come together to resist the various forces of oppression they face in their daily lives. These pages will not be silent to the large numbers of people from every conceivable background who are waking up from the long nightmare that is our civilization and starting to act to bring about change. Another world is possible and it is worth fighting for.

What Happened to Indymedia?
From the open publishing newswire: What happened to indymedia. it seems like everything radical has gone dormant.
I remember when it started twenty years ago there was a lot of energy going into it but in like a generation the whole thing has shifted. everything has shifted. it doesn't seem like there is much of anything going on anymore. there is lots happening online but it doesn't accomplish anything particularly radical. almost all of the online organizing is filtered through corporate social media sites. i'm just a ranty old bitch but i am trying to understand why the radical movements of the recent 20 years mostly just whithered up and disappeared and it seems like no one even noticed it happened.
No Fair is Fair
From the open publishing newswire: This was my first protest I have been to in a long time. I went cause of what is happening around the world right now and a new class consciousness emerging we have not had a class consciousness in this country in a long time. When I arrived there were a few young people dressed in black standing on the edge of pioneer square. After a few minutes more continued to arrive I would say a few dozen came. One participant asked me if I had a mask I said I did and thanked them for their concern. There was some right wing agitators and trolls but many people came up and asked me what was happening and I told them the best I could, but they needed to talk to the Youth Liberation Front. Seriously a great group of youth dedicated and passionate. After being there for a while I had to leave afterwards they marched on trimet and took free ride.
Say no to Trimet cops they way to fund trimet is to not criminalize the poor!
Portland Copwatch: FOLLOW-UP: The City/PPB still don't understand the text scandal
From the open publishing newswire: Portland Copwatch wishes to express concern with the conclusions being
drawn from the follow up on the Lt. Niiya texting scandal. The
investigation has cleared Niiya of violating Bureau policy. The Mayor
and Chief are claiming that new training for officers to act as liaisons
in crowd situations led to the "success" of the August 17 proto-fascist
/ anti-fascist demonstrations. [...]
The lesson the City and Police still have to learn is that the First
Amendment doesn't contemplate negative repercussions from the state for
those who refuse to communicate when they exercise their rights, nor
does it grant privileges to those who do talk with the authorities. [...]

Portland Aug 4 Help Antifa Push Back Nazis
From the open publishing newswire: Resist Patriot Prayer: Violent Alt-Right Bigots Off Our Streets
Saturday August 4 at 11:30 AM
Tom McCall Waterfront Park Portland OR 97124
Patriot Prayer is bringing White Nationalists to Portland again. At their last event on June 30th they brought in out of state Alt Right celebrities and brawlers to create what was the most violent confrontation to date in Portland. It was a thinly veiled excuse to attack vulnerable communities and leftists. They want to send a send a message of intimidation to any and all people that oppose the fascist, totalitarian direction the US is currently headed in and swarming on progressive cities is part of that program. Patriot Prayer is bringing national Alt Right figures like Gavin McInnes and Alex Jones to our city. Our community must stand up and defend itself from Joey and his Alt Right goons.
History has shown that militant resistance is a necessary and important tool in the fight against fascism. We make no apologies for the use of force in keeping our communities safe from the scourge of right-wing violence. Make no mistake, these people are coming here with the intent to harm and threaten people. If you look at any of their forums they are filled with disturbing, Turner Diaries type fantasies of purges and cleansing the streets of those they seem undesirable. If you look at their year-long pattern of behavior there can be no confusion about their objectives. The genocidal ideas they espouse and their belligerent tactics should not be dignified with a debate. They need to be routed.
